  • Join me for an early morning offshore solo trip to the Charleston 60 on a rough and cold winter day. I caught multiple grouper and snapper on cut bait and the slow pitch jig. The ride was a little rough, but the fishing was good on the SeaKeeper equipped Pathfinder 2700 Open.

To me this is the ultimate SW Florida boat. Few years before I relocate, the 2700 open will be the boat we buy. Just love everything about that boat.

Really nice center console boat man. Nice groupers as well. I just subscribed to your channel for future content. Keep them coming and tight lines.

If you want a lighter reel with more power/torque, try a van staal VR150. I had a Penn slammer 5500. I could only use it for 30min due to the weight. I can fish my vr150 all day
The gear on the van staal is twice as big.

I'll check it out as I have not been all that thrilled with the slammers.

Beautiful boat! How is the ride in comparison to the Regulator 25? Where did you install the Seakeeper gyro? I'm definitely gonna be checking that 2700 Open out at the Miami boat show in Feb.

Thank you! The Reg has a better ride offshore, but the PF is faster, lighter, way more fuel efficient, and a better layout for my needs. The SeaKeeper is mounted on the deck in front of the console. I had the fiberglass cooler modified to enclose it.

How much do you love that pathfinder? It looks like a perfect layout. Unless you think the bow layout could be better?

It's an awesome boat! The bow layout works great for my needs.

I recently sold my 32' Contender to downsize. How is the 27 Open holding up? I love the layout, but concerned the quality might not be what I expect. The Yamaha Performance Bulletin says you'll get around 2.5 mpg at 40mph. Are you seeing close to that?

I have not had any major issues and I run it pretty hard. Fuel economy is great and I generally see 2.5+ at that speed in smooth seas. I had a Regulator 25 before this that was a great boat, but it sucked down the fuel at pretty much any speed. This is my 3rd Pathfinder and they have all been great.

@@solofishcharleston Thanks! Really excited to get 1. I fish NE Fla and make runs similar to you. I know it won't ride as good as my 32ST but I hope it's ok? Keep up the content!

Agreed! The PF doesn't ride as good as my Regulator did, but I still love it. The layout is way better, better fuel economy, easier to handle at the sandbar, etc.

Great looking boat! Where did you have to go to buy it? Haven't saw a pf dealership in Charleston.

Palmetto Boat Sales on Savannah Hwy. Ask for Robby and tell him Brant sent you.

@@solofishcharleston in Georgia they ticket us for not using it in the near by reefs which are in about 40-70 feet of water . And they check your GPS chart to see where you have been fishing.

Hey man love the channel. Fish out of CHS the majority of the time, too. What carnage are you using for your 60-80feet of spinning gear?
