    Great video. I actually didn't mind the speed that you went at, despite me not knowing everything about database stuff. It's easy enough to speed up the video, if needed, so maybe going a little slower would be more beneficial to other viewers. Slowing videos down just makes tutors sound...slow.

    • @PixemWeb
      @PixemWeb  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Mergulho, You could go to the users table in phpMyAdmin and check what users are created. you can see what level of access they have. If there's an account that seems to have greater access than it's supposed to you can either change the access level or you can further investigate via WordPress Admin Dashboard. In the dashboard you can go to your users and see who has admin level access. It should just be you. You can get greater control over your users with plugins like Members which I believe I have a video on and also the User Role Editor Plugin which is really good as well. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the video. I have a question. I would like to build a form where the drop down content is created from a query of a database. Here is an example. A user selects a U.S. State, (California), the results from a query filter only populates the Cities with those that are in the database. So, if California and I only have Los Angeles and San Francisco, only Los Angeles and San Francisco are listed in the new dropdown. Then after selecting Los Angeles, the output only lists facilities located in Los Angeles.
    Can you point me in the direction of a youtube video or link that might help me code this?

    Great Video again! So How to protect properly the database?

    • @PixemWeb
      @PixemWeb  7 лет назад

      You will want to make sure that your web hosting account is secure with unique credentials, 2 factor authentication and make sure your database credentials are also strong and unique. Since the database works with WordPress or any other CMS like Drupal or Joomla, just make sure to only use trusted plugins and themes since they can insert information into the database.

  • @stefcioagoodboy

    Joel, quick question, can I Optimize all tables directly on phpMyadmin? For example, I use WP-Optimize it clean several things, but I got the tables postmeta, post, and option tables which were around 8-12 MB each. And I reduce to 1MB each just by selecting those 3 tables and clicking "Optimize tables" on phpMyAdmin... So I was wondering if I can safely optimize like that All tables? Thanks !!

    • @PixemWeb
      @PixemWeb  7 лет назад

      I actually do prefer to optimize all the tables via phpmyadmin. I frequently check the tables, repair them and optimize them from phpmyadmin since it gives you greater control. Just make sure to take a full backup.

    Slow down. Remember, you are showing people who do NOT know what you know how something works. What is the hurry??? You zoom through it as though it were painful.
    Also, try NOT to wiggle the mouse around to emphasize something. That is very poor tutorial method.
    ...

    • @PixemWeb
      @PixemWeb  7 лет назад +3

      Gotcha, thanks for the feedback. Still learning how to do these video tutorials. Playing around with a few different ideas on how to best upload. It's either very long and slow tutorials, fast tutorials where I cram in a lot of info, or what I'm probably going to settle on is splitting the videos into shorter segments.

    • @davidfisher9251
      @davidfisher9251 7 лет назад +2

      Keep this in mind: people are watching this who DO NOT KNOW what you know. Use Camtasia #9 - really the best tutorial maker of them all. Then use zoom in/out, draw boxes and arrows and use those things (there are more) instead of nervous mouse wiggling around attempting to point at something using mouse wiggles (does not work) .
      Focus on ONE message and do not mention options and other ways unless you really think the mention is worth the diversion.
      Diversions are deadly for tutorials as they do not add to your message but divert from it. I recently watched a bunch of SSL installation methods and they all made it far more difficult than it actually is. So, keep it simple. People who know something which has options find it difficult not to show off their knowledge of the options. The discipline is to keep focused and if all the options matter than do another tutorial for options. Otherwise, show ONE set of an option and make a passing comment that it is "one option" and you have other tutorials for other options if you want to.
      ...

    • @PixemWeb
      @PixemWeb  7 лет назад +5

      Thanks again for the feedback. I'm using Camtasia 9. It's awesome. Still learning all the features it provides. I appreciate your constructive criticism. It'll help me create better videos that people will benefit from.
