Actually, the fabric on Zavala's shoulder is from Amanda's bandana. They actually apparently added it, even in-game, just shortly after Amanda got blown up.
Things I noticed in this trailer. The point Zavala gets pulled backwards by those set of hands, those hands had the same texture Crow’s arms have and in the part where Crow and Cayde are running away, for a split second you can see in the distance Ikora holding Zavala by the shoulder and walking out, so I am guessing Zavala got baited into this dream sequence by the witness where he was shown the house Zavala lived in (The house in the 2nd ViDoc with weird smoke coming out of chimney) and there he talks to his now deceased wife’s statue (where he says “I used to think I would give anything to bring you back” in the Vidoc) and then the Witness asks him to join him but Crow pulls him out and they start running where they get attacked by the big Witness hands breaking through reality. My highly controversial theory is that Zavala at some point realises he can use this bait, the Witness has set up, to get close to it and maybe discover it’s weakness. But a part of me feels Ikora/Zavala will die.
We will weaken the witness, unable to kill it. Zavala will trick witness into believing that he is falling for his trick, where he promises to instill Zavala with his wife and son forever. Just as witness is trying to turn Zavala into his disciple, he will hammer in the last nail into witness coffin and kill him. Which will ultimately kill Zavala, and he will finally be forever reunited with his wife and son in the afterlife. The leadership will pass to ikora.

Wow. I never noticed that before. Thanks for clarifying.
