Your problem was that you left the hot wet towel on top of it... The concept is to get the mat hot enough to soften the curves, and then let it cool in a flat surface with heavy stuff on it. I let mine on the sun for 30 min and then placed it on a flat surface with books on it for several hours. It got flat.
That is so nice to know. I cut it down, put it on top of a blank metal door for another sewing/cutting area and finally bought a new one for the big table. Thanks for your input
I agree- a hot soak in the bathtub works too, but it's important that it's dry for the cool down process. Mine warped in a hot car, and I was able to heal it with a hot bath, got it fully dry, and then the pressing overnight.
