    Thank you for another excellent video Gareth. I must admit that you have a way of making fishing more than just catching fish. I have been fishing most of my adult life and I can remember some amazing fishing trips. I am restricted to boat fishing these days and I must admit at times it seems like I am fishing in a wasteland where fish are few and far between. Commercial pressures on fish stocks are having an increasingly negative effect on recreational angling which makes it even more important to take what you can from the activity itself......enjoy the setting, the fresh air, the beauty that surrounds us (apart from the litter of course). Fishing has to be about more than catching fish....never thought that I would say that!. Once again thank you for all the time and effort you take with your videos...don't push yourself into making more content if you don't have the time. Quality not quantity is a good maxim. All the best P

      Thank you Paul, I appreciate it. A quiet session but I still enjoyed it, always nice to spend a few hours at that spot. Yes I agree, recreational fishing is getting harder and harder as the fish stocks continue to dwindle as a result of commercial over-fishing. It's very sad and you do wonder where it will all end. If it carries on like it is then I think the seas will be pretty much empty within 50 years. Money and greed seem to be the dominating factors and hardly any of it is sustainable. That's it, fishing for me nowadays is all about getting out, spending a bit of time next to the water and taking it all in, my therapy if you like and any fish I catch are a bonus. Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍

    I fished Aberavon recently early morning and the amount of rubbish strewn about in the dunes was outrageous.

    Tell you what buddy, if you like fushing rock marks like that, your gonna love Anglesey if you ever get a chance. Theres more species like wrasse, pollack, coalie, tope, huss, big congers as well as what we catch down here to. Bottom fishing is still the same pace, although the water is clearer so lure fishing is very popular up there, everywhere. Cheapy ol boat rod will definitely get action with congers, 20lb+ and upwards is a common size up there. And ye, littering is a huge problem, and something no angler should cause. Hi Gareth cracking session as always 👍 where do you park down there mate?? As I've had a ticket or two when fishing the white light 😂

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  Год назад

      Thank you James, appreciated as always. So for this mark, I parked in the Harbour Road Carpark which is open 24/7, 10 minute walk or so. Or you can park in Nell's Point Carpark which is right next to the mark but that doesn't open until 8am. As for the white light, parking is now a problem...I either park in Nell's Point Carpark and walk around (if tide times are right) or if fishing an early morning tide, I park above Jackson's Bay within the white lined area as you get two hours parking but as long as you're gone by 11am it shouldn't be a problem if you're there for longer. So I fished it the other week, arrived at 6am, left at 10:30am and no problems...I'm assuming the 2 hours start from 9am when they start checking. Cheers 👍👍

A quiet session but I enjoyed it, first time I'd been out in a couple of weeks. Yes it's such a shame and I think the problem is getting worse, I'm seeing more and more rubbish wherever I go, not good! Cheers for watching, have a good week 👍👍

    You seem to switch from fixed-spool reels to multiplier reels over the years, what’s the reason?

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  5 месяцев назад

      It just depends what I fancy using on the day. I'm preferring fixed soools at the moment, especially over rougher ground.

    Great video again Gareth. The inconsiderate idiots that leave the litter cant be classed as true fisherman. They are just the mindless idiots who lose us true fisherman our fishing marks. On a positive note, how often do we catch on our first cast raising our expectations only to be dissapointed. On other occassions as you said, we watch our motionless rod tips and ready to give up, only to bag up on the ebb. 🤣👍

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  Год назад

      Thank you Andy, appreciated as always. Such a shame about the litter, always frustrates me when I see it and as you say, they are not true fishermen. Haha yes, always the way isn't it whereby we catch a fish first cast and then nothing. I definitely cursed it, I should have kept quiet 😂. Not a busy session but it was nice to be out again, lovely mark in fairness and I've had some good fish off there over the years, never quite know what's going to turn up. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
