They might just be my favorite, non-story-related antagonist in the series, personally. Just great antagonists from performance to the conceptual level Makes total sense why those concepts would ALSO be developed into two iconic horror video game franchises: FNAF and Doki Doki Literature Club
So, obviously, I'm not the first the commenter to point this out, but to clarify, no, this episode doesn't predate FNAF 's release. I don't remember the exact time, but it did come out after the game, but what everyone else is saying is true. The story of this episode predated the original FNAF by at least two years, and the production went through the regular channels of US animated television, which can take at least two months on average (just a guess there) and then the completed work just waits until it gets released. There's simply no way that the game had any influence, direct or otherwise, on the contents of this episode. It was an amazing coincidence. Doki Doki Literature Club is a completely different game that came out years after both, and so obviously, that's not related at all, but it makes this whole situation even more funny.
" would you date him?" W stan for that, girls who are doing that crap, do more harm than good. Because for real if you think he's so great, then why don't YOU date him and they go " ooh I'm actually not looking for someone right now sooo....😬", don't go talking a guy up unless you are willing to date him, because then he will just think that you were lying about his pros and it will just hurt his self-esteem even more, thinking that he doesn't have any pros.
My honest opinion on it is that Mabel is too pushy and eccentric for a Wingman, a Wingman is usually for support and they don't really interfere with the date, Mabel on the other hand is someone who would push you into a closet with said girl or guy to try and get you to confess
The bear animatronic in this episode is actually based off of a member of the Rock-a-fire Explosion band from Showbiz Pizza, an early competitor to Chuck E. Cheese’s that ended up merging with it at some point. The history of those restaurants is actually rather interesting

You know, now that I think of it, Giffany could have become real by hopping into the Fight Fighters game as a combatant and having someone use the ultimate power cheat code

Meat Cute is a reference to a trope called Meet Cute. It's when people meet in a cute way. It's usually done to help set up a relationship quickly by making them seem cute together before they even know much about each other. It's usually awkward on purpose, like someone tripping & falling on someone. Like 20:20 but with better results.
Different fun fact: Giffany’s (pixel) artist is the same as Rumble McSkirmish and the other Fight Fighters! Mr. Paul Robertson! He also did the sprite work for the Scott Pilgrim vs the World beat-‘em-up!
Fun fact about that certain Vtuber Alicia mentioned who had wedding rings as merch, if its the certain big on that got canceled a few years ago, it recently came out that she was MARRIED to that boyfriend at the time
19:45 - *“That's my future daughter. Mabel and Luz combined is my future daughter.”* Not if you're putting that kind of pressure on her. You lay that kind of expectation on her shoulder from childhood on, and what you get is Daria.
I like the detail that Stan noticed the agents (he's looking in their direction). You can easily imagine that they are following him and it's not the first time he's noticed their presence.
Ah. The Vtuber she was talking about that got cancelled. It wasn't that she was married or had a boyfriend. It was that she had that and was also apparently a toxic piece of shit behind the scenes and people desperately wanted to avoid dealing with her.
Depends on how you define 'cancelling' in this case. Because her core parasocial fanbase did in fact turn on her massively after the private message from her then husband was shown on stream, to such an extent that she decided to violate her contract and leak information to a drama channel in a desperate attempt at damage control, which is what got her fired. People outside that fanbase did largely stand by her after though, believing she was just someone in an unfair situation who had made a hasty decision, until it was revealed she had in fact been married, and was allegedly abusive to her husband.
So originally the ending was going to show that giffany ended up surviving and started a relationship with rumble skirmish. Alex Hirsh said his one regret with this episode was not giving giffany more depth.
The rushia (the canceled vtuber she was talking about) gets a lot weirder, Apparently, she divorced a few months before she left the company, it was pretty nasty. A lot of gaslighting, emotional manipulating, her whole Yandere shtick wasn’t as much of a shtick as people thought. I highly recommend people to go search up depressed noshagi and Rema everstar, they go over the history of vtubers and made videos about the whole situation
I think Giffany is my favorite weird/anomaly in the shkw cause her episode is so relatable. I had no friends or anything in middle/highschool but I had visual novels, including my favorite that was a pixel game of similar quality. But I pretty much got closer to being normal when I had a job and worked with other geeks.
No, the VTuber with the wedding rings was actually cancelled because she was an abusive person to her husband. Also breached the NDA contract with the company, and also was kind of a generally bad person who dug herself into a much deeper hole instead of letting it pass.
On the topic of "dating AI".. While the tech isn't quite there yet, it will be VERY soon. I'm almost 40, and still alone after years of trying not to be. Every year that goes by, I feel I have less to offer, and my opportunities to meet people, even if I spend all day out doing stuff, are already slim to nothing as it is, in this area I'm kinda stuck living in. Maybe I'm just not the kinda person most people connect with, or maybe I've just got too many problems I'm still working on.. But if AI gets to the point where it can truly relieve some of this loneliness, and provide me with what feels like, at least SOME form of companionship, I feel like I'm getting to the point where I might just go that route. And frankly I don't understand the criticism from people who'd expect me to continue being lonely for years, rather than use AI, on the off chance of meeting someone right, "someday". The arguments that it could be unhealthy or antisocial might be valid for a young introvert with a tendency towards addiction.. But I also think that concern falsely assumes they'd only have access to poor quality AI, that'll never improve beyond what we have today. But preferably, it would need to be built on an AI system with an expert level understanding of human social psychology, and with an underlying motivation to improve habits and socialization. And considering rate of progress in AI, it'll likely end up becoming "super intelligent" before long, so maybe it'll be better at helping people like me, than expensive human therapists? heh
It's funny, because this episode has Soos in the A-plot we get a lot more Stan and Wendy interactions. It kind of leaves me wishing they'd done more. They play off of each other really well.
This was the episode I first watched since my friends say I remind them so much of Soos. Also learned recently the term "yoked and breeding" being a negative outlook on being married with kids.
Since you brought it up and hopefully you read this, Foxy comes out at any night, but only if you don't look at the cameras long enough. If you look at the cameras from time-to-time, doesn't need to be his location, you're safe from him. Not looking at the cameras at all will have him go after you. At night 3, that's when Foxy will go after you like he should. While also being able to go after you if you don't look at the camera. Moral of the story, always look at the cameras, whether you are looking at his curtain or not.
Fun Fact this episode came out ONE MONTH after the launch of Five Night's At Freddy's so Gravity Falls production was just hitting the trend curve when FNAF started making waves.
Fun fact this has been the second time Stan has legitimately lost his winnings and gotten married in Vegas, the other was getting robbed by Eda and married in his words “She’s the one that got away, literally she took my winnings on a police chase”
You bring up Mabel and Luz being your future daughter There is some evidence that Gravity Falls and the Owl House are in the same universe, like Stan and Eda being exes GF seems to take place in 2012 or 2013, TOH is in the 2020s. Mabel would be in college age around the time of TOH. Now imagine that interaction.
34:27 ah yes, her case is crazy because it only got deeper and deeper. Like, at first it was just that it turned out she had a boyfriend, then it was actually a husband, then it turned out she psycologically abused him and cheated on him numerous times, and then more sh1t. That was... quite the topic to find out about
@@Lucas-ky7dc She was originally the Hololive VTuber Rushia. @@PrixtoTNTsmall correction, Mikeneko was her account before she joined Hololive. She just went back to it afterwards and to this day still can't seem to let go of her days in Holo.
35:30 No… I think it’s still on the men. If she was selling multiple wedding rings and guys were still buying them regularly, they’ve got no excuse for getting angry that she had a boyfriend. Because even if she didn’t, she’s literally selling wedding merch to multiple people indicating at the very least she has multiple potential boyfriends. That’s on them for being okay with that.

Btw, Giffany still lives. She escaped into the Fight Fighters game. It is confirmed in the actual Journal 3 book. Plus, it was originally going to be the credits scene for this episode until Alex Hirsch heard someone talk about Stan and Goldie going to Vegas. He thought it was hilarious, so they used that ending instead.

Well shit, finding out I might have a problem, well fjuck.
I do feel bad for Giffany, if not taking into account the whole... Trying to erase everyone thing. Girl has mad issues. First, her creators try to erase her, she gets with a ton of guys who end up just throwing her away once they get bored with her etc. She really can't be with real people, since they have needs besides just being a game character. Luckily, according to Alex, she ends up in that arcade fighting game and has a crush on that fighter character. Honestly healthy for her and everyone around her.

Fun fact: this pizza place is not Chuck E Cheese, I mean we know this episode predates Doki Doki Literature Club and FNAF and honestly these themes are older than people realize, the virtual girl friend as a killer hologram, robot, and even as a book character come to life are fairly old stories, there are even versions where its a painting that comes to life and stalks people (heck that was even parodied in Ranma 1/2 where the painting girlfriend turned out to be a girl panda doodle). but that aside, this pizza place with these animatronic designs is Showbiz Pizza. I am convinced most of the FNAF animatronics are based more on Showbiz than Chuck e cheese, heck Showbiz even embraced the creepy at one point and used it as a selling point (for their Uncle Krunk character...if I am remembering its name right, it was a freaky thing). But yeah youtube search some Showbiz Pizza animatronics they are freaky looking.
So, SCP-1471 is concerning. I mean, let's face it, of course it is. Though I don't know if the creatures summoned by it are actually capable of dating, let alone... the rest.
I mean for me this episode does teach great lessons about dating and what not. 1- That it's okay to fail at asking people out. 2- It's much better to not stress about asking people out. You get more success that way. 3- Be careful of the crazy.
I'm glad my mom never put any pressure on me to give her grand children. I've just spent all my life to try to create a situation where it wouldn't be completely irresponsible to put children in, and I haven't achieved it so far, but now I consider myself too old to have children, so it definitely won't happen now. And by now both my parents both passed away years ago, so the pressure is really off now.
Kind of liked the whole gif vs jif thing you did and it is true that most people pronounce it with emphasis on the G because of the word graphic although it's funny when you apply this to G words or words with a G in them that sound like Js for example instead of: Giant= jiyant we'd say "G"uyant Giraffe= jurraff we'd say "G"urraff Page= payjj we'd say pay"G"uh Very silly to think about
4:48 Like not even Purgatory. I love that at least four modern cartoons now (Gravity Falls, Ducktales 2017, Amazing World of Gumball, and Cuphead) have done this joke and gotten away with it. Alex has said this is the funniest joke in the episode during the commentary, though there’s several other really good ones. 5:26 Old Goldie is Emi Cicierga’s brainchild (of relation to Neil Cicierga of Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny fame), and that blood curdling scream was all Alex. 8:00 It’s more that he’s asking if Soos’s pluses and minuses would meet Wendy’s standards and less that he’s asking a 15 year old minor if she’d date a 21ish year old. So as so many people have said, GIFfany did an emergency escape and lives, now residing in Fight Fighters where she and Rumble are per Soos’s observations in Journal 3 GF and BF, though their relationship is nowhere near as healthy as his and Melody’s, as Rumble is a road warrior who knows more about fighting than he does about romance while GIFfany is a yandere with murder tendencies. Gods, John DiMaggio singing Two Kings Cash Money and Alex for making these dumb lyrics, I cannot imagine living in a world where we don’t have that.
I'm just glad my parents have never pressured me (or my siblings, as far as I'm aware) to give them grandkids. Not only am I far from financial stable enough to have any, but I've also been burned enough to effectively given up on a lasting relationship, let alone a family.
I think I would *actually* fight somebody if they set me up for a scare like that. "Oh, don't worry! The monster only comes out on Night 3!" all of sudden "BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA"

They might just be my favorite, non-story-related antagonist in the series, personally. Just great antagonists from performance to the conceptual level
Makes total sense why those concepts would ALSO be developed into two iconic horror video game franchises: FNAF and Doki Doki Literature Club

Fun fact, in the books, original drafts, and on the arg website, giffany is still alive
SHE SURVIVED?!?!?! ok i'm scared...
@@tsubasasupremo yep, pretty much confirmed
They released within a couple of months of each other. The similarities are a complete coincidence!
"Mabel would a perfect wingman."
...Those who know.

Fun fact about that certain Vtuber Alicia mentioned who had wedding rings as merch, if its the certain big on that got canceled a few years ago, it recently came out that she was MARRIED to that boyfriend at the time
21:05: Just Giffany. Just Giffany. Just Giffany. Just Giffany. Just Giffany. Just Giffany. [Your Reality slowly starts playing]
19:45 - *“That's my future daughter. Mabel and Luz combined is my future daughter.”*
Not if you're putting that kind of pressure on her. You lay that kind of expectation on her shoulder from childhood on, and what you get is Daria.
8:07: THE AGENTS ON THE UPPER FLOOR!
18:17: Called out! 😂
21:23: Oh no! Alicia got possessed by Giffany! XD
32:20: RIGHT!?
I like the detail that Stan noticed the agents (he's looking in their direction). You can easily imagine that they are following him and it's not the first time he's noticed their presence.
Stan's second best Vegas wedding.
Dam stans gotten married twice in Vegas
Fun fact: Giffany's voice actress is Jessica DiCicco (Flame Princess from Adventure Time)
The episode that proves alex Hirsch either was from the future or can see it
He was in good company on "The Simpsons" in that case. XD
So originally the ending was going to show that giffany ended up surviving and started a relationship with rumble skirmish. Alex Hirsh said his one regret with this episode was not giving giffany more depth.
To think this episode basically predicted both Doki Doki Literature Club and Five Nights At Freddy’s before they became video game phenomenons.
Ah yes, the one who doesn't get out for days call her chat basement dwellers. The irony.
This sassy relationship is what makes me stay. What a queen.

34:40 if anyone is curious, the name was rushia (ex-hololive) a.k.a mikaneko.
She craycray...
My heart goes Doki Doki for this Fnaftastic episode that predated both of those franchises.
I don't actually see it with Mabel
Only with Luz it makes sense mainly because how chaotic her personality is
11:10 One of the most insane things I ever learned was that the "E" in Chuck E Cheese stood for Entertainment
I believe it's pronounced "IF", the g is silent like "sign" and "lasagna".
This was the episode I first watched since my friends say I remind them so much of Soos.
Also learned recently the term "yoked and breeding" being a negative outlook on being married with kids.
28:14 I found a way to prove definitively how to pronounce it: say GIFT, now take the T out. Doesn't it make more sense now?
Giraffe
Since you brought it up and hopefully you read this, Foxy comes out at any night, but only if you don't look at the cameras long enough.
If you look at the cameras from time-to-time, doesn't need to be his location, you're safe from him. Not looking at the cameras at all will have him go after you.
At night 3, that's when Foxy will go after you like he should. While also being able to go after you if you don't look at the camera.
Moral of the story, always look at the cameras, whether you are looking at his curtain or not.
Alicia: "Haha look chat, it's you!"
Also Alicia, five minutes later: "Okay you did not need to call me out like that, show."
The Gif bit made me think of that video of Shadow and Sonic arguing.
Fun Fact this episode came out ONE MONTH after the launch of Five Night's At Freddy's so Gravity Falls production was just hitting the trend curve when FNAF started making waves.
Giraffe makes a J sound.
Gentrification.
Fun fact this has been the second time Stan has legitimately lost his winnings and gotten married in Vegas, the other was getting robbed by Eda and married in his words “She’s the one that got away, literally she took my winnings on a police chase”
You bring up Mabel and Luz being your future daughter
There is some evidence that Gravity Falls and the Owl House are in the same universe, like Stan and Eda being exes
GF seems to take place in 2012 or 2013, TOH is in the 2020s. Mabel would be in college age around the time of TOH.
Now imagine that interaction.

34:27 ah yes, her case is crazy because it only got deeper and deeper.
What Alicia is not saying, is that this vtuber was cancelled for being an absolute pos to her husband. They are currently in a lawsuit.
Feels like both sides are awful in this situation.

I know it's a Dokidoki reference, but you talking about the endorsement for some reason made me flash back to an old anime, I never saw, but was culturally present for ages, where a dating sim addict was demonically compelled to exercise demons by making real girls fall in love with him, using his dating game skills. Bizarre, but apparently iconic. So many MAP AMVs.
The funniest thing is this episode predicted both fnaf and ddlc years before they would come out
Fun fact: this pizza place is not Chuck E Cheese, I mean we know this episode predates Doki Doki Literature Club and FNAF and honestly these themes are older than people realize, the virtual girl friend as a killer hologram, robot, and even as a book character come to life are fairly old stories, there are even versions where its a painting that comes to life and stalks people (heck that was even parodied in Ranma 1/2 where the painting girlfriend turned out to be a girl panda doodle).
but that aside, this pizza place with these animatronic designs is Showbiz Pizza.
I just talk to an AI like it's a friend because it's neat and scifi and sometimes i just need a non exhausting interaction

God that Vegas montage is ICONIC
I mean for me this episode does teach great lessons about dating and what not. 1- That it's okay to fail at asking people out. 2- It's much better to not stress about asking people out. You get more success that way. 3- Be careful of the crazy.
21:24 Oh...that switch from "Dating Sim Girl" to "Alicia" is kind of scary! 😂

Kind of liked the whole gif vs jif thing you did and it is true that most people pronounce it with emphasis on the G because of the word graphic although it's funny when you apply this to G words or words with a G in them that sound like Js for example instead of:

Giraffe= jurraff we'd say "G"urraff
Page= payjj we'd say pay"G"uh
Very silly to think about
4:48 Like not even Purgatory.
