Hole is so underrated. A bit more grungy than Sheryl Crowe, especially in the beginning. With grunge fading fast in the mid-'90s, the band had to polish their sound to stay current. Unfortunately, it was a compromise that divided the band members, sending Courtney out as a solo.
Great band! Criminally underrated. Love all their 90s albums.

This is her more “safe” and mainstream stuff… you should check out their older stuff.
Not much safer. Even on "Celebruty Skin" it's still Hole and and Courtney's lyrics are still dark as hell. Not that grungy - but grunge itself was very narrow and faded away very fast.
Think the song Violet is also on this album, much more of a harder rock sound but is a great listen

I heard Courtney doesn't actully play guitar & they are sonehow tuned for her or something like that, but I played the heck out of this entire record when it was releaaed. I love every song on Celebrity Skin. Violet is on Live Through This❤ I saw Hole at the Santa Barbara Bowl, around 2000, supported by Queens of the Stone Age, hot show!!!!!
