- The Labour Party has won a landslide victory in the UK general election.
With fewer than 10 seats left to declare, this is set to be the worst Conservative result - in terms of seats - in history.
Sir Keir Starmer will be the next UK prime minister and will enter Number 10 Downing Street today.
Overnight, the Liberal Democrats made huge gains, while the Scottish National Party lost dozens of seats.
Reform UK have net four MPs so far and the Green Party have had their best election performance to date.

Most people didn't vote for Starmer,
Most voted to get the Conservatives out.
I don't care as long as the Tories are out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So what? People have seen the disaster that the Conservatives have put this country through over the last 14years, and they overwhelmingly voted for a different path forward.
@@rangersnut you do realise absolutely nothing will change, in fact on certain policies it will get much worse
It was tactical voting yeah
Why? Is Starmer too decent?
Why are the pretending Starmer had anything to do with this? They won because of the Tory's utter incompetence, not because people actually like Starmer.
It doesn’t matter mate. Shush
Oh they gonna hate him soon.
I do think that Starmer has at least something to do with it. He’s much more respectable than any other Labour Party leader since Blair. The way he’s purged the party of cranks and corbynites certainly contributed a fair bit to winning my vote.
@@Verminator4agreed
@@ascgazzl guarantee, they get one go. And not another for 20 years or more.
More accurately, it is a landslide loss for the tories
This is a win through anger, not because Labour are the best candidates. They'll 1000000% be out next election.
This election was always going to be about Sunak bending over to take a caning for Truss and Johnson.
@@Dynasty1818 lol you mean the same way the conservatives won with Cameron bc the people were angry with Labour then??
This election was all about giving another mediocrity a go at leading an ever declining country.
@@Dynasty1818 surely the electorate will judge Labour on its record? If they deliver, they get another term. If they fail, they’ll be booted out. This election in my view reinforces the maxim “oppositions don’t win elections, governments lose them”.
Overall Starmer and Labour got less votes overall than Corbyn in 2017 but yeah let's pretend its Starmer's victory 😂😂
Just a 1.6% increase on 2019. Labour’s vote share is the lowest ever to achieve a majority.
Yes, Corbyn's retained his seat despite running as an independent. Starmer has him to thank for where he is now.
And how thoughtful of the government to give us all a pencil to vote with so that if we make a mistake they can rub it out and correct it for us😂
@@Stardust_Truth_Seeker Given the result, that is a slightly bizarre comment.

Labour won just 33.8% of the vote, just +1.6% on 2019. They won purely because Reform split the Tory vote.
Yep. I agree and I have been a Labour voter for 40 years
Labour has achieved just 33.8% of the vote, an increase of just 1.6% on 2019. This is the lowest vote share to achieve a majority, let alone a landslide. There is no evidence of a ground-swell of support for Labour. They have benefitted purely from right-wing vote splitting. Historians will call this the ‘undeserved landslide’.
Hopefully before the next election most of the right wing gammons will have kicked the bucket finally grasping at anger, Reform will soon disintegrate also.
