I'm seeing a lot of people saying I missed K'kruhk. I very well may have, but I can't seem to find confirmation. I would certainly agree that he was the oldest and wisest Jedi Master of the Legacy era, so it makes sense that he would have the title, I just can't see any confirmation that he officially held it. If anyone can point me to a good source, I would really appreciate it!
Tyler Dunn if Star Wars Explained was everything you just said why would he even bother making this list in the first place when over half of it isn't even canon anymore.
It sucks that Disney canon only people will never know the greatness of stuff like Luke slowly rebuilding the Jedi Order, learning from the mistakes of the old Jedi and making it better.
Maybe, but discovering what's good in the new canon rather than non-stop complaining is also good. I'm not saying that's what you do, I'm just pointing out there are two sides to this idea. Don't miss out on Legends, but don't write off canon as bad either.
@@ginge641 Did...you just admit to writing the new canon off, which is exactly what my comment warned against? Well, you're loss. Have fun hating Star Wars because that's the new hotness and people...want to, for some reason.

That "3 year span" pales in comparison to the 8 years between RotJ and Heir to the Empire (the book that practically kickstarted Legends). So how about this, once Episode 9 comes out, wait 8 more years, then tell us how much Star Wars content has been made. Canon is already on a role with the sequel to their new Thrawn series already being written (by the same author no less). Combine the books with all the comics, games, tv shows, and other movies being made, and I think it's a safe bet that canon will have more content in that 8 year span than Legends ever did starting off. I would include more here, but lets please try to keeps things civil. Things have gotten so bad in the SW fandom, I'm legitimately worried it's going to split apart and die.
I am running a Star Wars 5th Edition game with some friends based around the time after the Ruusan Reformation, and knowing who was the Jedi grandmaster really helps flesh out the world and allows me to work within established lore.
In Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, we learn that Luke Skywalker was the last Jedi Grand Master, and that Rey became the last Jedi. We have to wait for Episode IX to see if Rey becomes a Jedi Grandmaster or just restarts the Order from scratch.
What about Odan-Urr, he wasn't grandmaster in title but practically was being the yoda figure of the "Tales of the Jedi" storyline. Also probably the most awesome old man due to him studying a sith holocron for a thousand years without being tempted by the dark side. Just think about the number of people who have come in contact with a sith holocron, have fallen to the dark side because of it and how it took. Odan-Urr did this for a thousand years and never faltered. Also Exar Kun, the Dark Lord of Sith at the time was scared of him he used a instant kill sith ritual on him because he didn't want to fight him. Like Odan -Urr deserves that grandmaster title like no else. Just my opinion.
Hi, Star Wars Explained, how are you doing ? I am new to the channel and I have seen that if somenone puts questions in the comments about a subject in SW you either make a video for it or explain it in the comments section . So lets get to the point - I have question and I will be very glad if you could answer it the way you want : Why SW characters don't use their technical advanced ships with lightspeed to exit their known galaxy in search for new ones ? - for example the Millenium falcon could pass the Kessel Run for 12 parsecs, which ultimately fast even for the SW universe ! Let me know if you will tell me in the comments section or maybe in a separate video !
Man, they were so many Grand Masters in Legends and serving Luke's new Jedi Order, so much rich lore. What a shame Disney won't be including these Grand Masters or new ones of different species within the new Canon or The Last Jedi; Luke is practically ending it. I like the new Canon, but Legends is my resource for deeper and intriguing Star Wars lore. Yet, I own some copies being the Jedi Path and Book of the Sith, which are well-written books offering compelling insight into the Jedi and Sith and nothing to cause direct damage to the overall continuity. A minor issue being the achievement of synthetic red crystals vs. "bleeding" red crystals. What a waste of great mythos! 💎📚💔 I'm perfectly aware of the apathy and hatred surrounding the EU/Legends, but very bloated in my opinion. Sure, Disney/Lucasfilm want a CLEAN slate, yet with decent decisions comes great responsibility and heavy prices. I'll still read the new Canon, but collect more Legends on account of my passion for writing and creative ideas. Originality is an essential ingredient of good and quality storytelling and absolute dryness is a BIG no-no embedded in my books. I simply WON'T tolerate it. 😡😒👎 On the OTHER hand, nothing WILL enter my own "canon" of Star Wars unless it serves a form of adequacy, decency, logic, and relevance. Nothing. #LEGENDSNeverDie #NewCANONStillQuestionable #ReadersAreLeaders📚📖👑🌠
You and I seem to be a lot alike in our beliefs regarding Star Wars, especially in the idea that we create our own "canon" of the Star Wars timelines. So which Grandmasters are your favorites? Mine are Nomi Sunrider and Luke Skywalker.
While I don't agree with you, thank you so much for stating a good opinion. I think having a "personal" canon isn't the best way (as in, you may as well make your own stories and universe at that point), but I am all for personal interpretations of something. Like what true balance to the force is, is the Rule of Two a mystical law or a simple philosophy, or are lightsabers more of a science or magic, etc. (I prefer the bleeding red crystals and the "magic" of it all btw). I would like to point out that Star Wars is entirely based on taking ideas from past stories. Most of it isn't original at all. It takes from western & eastern movies, sci-fi, fantasy, romance, adventure, action , and more. The reason Star Wars is so popular and important, I think, is because it represents all media. It is every story combined and put into a different galaxy, with its own rules. The possibilities are endless, but Star Wars is rooted in representing everything that has already been done. George Lucas himself said that even future Star Wars movies need to take from past Star Wars movies ("like a poem", he said, or something around those words at least). Although Lucas has clearly shown that he doesn't always have the best ideas, I think it's good that they are sticking to this theme of inspired stories, mixed with a small bit of originality, of course.
