    Can you upload a video of you using the speed bag and seeing how fast It can go ? I really love on how you improved the speed bag mount with a thicker board.

      Yes, I wanted to make one, but it's been over 115 degrees just about the entire summer, had to buy new bladder and leather conditioner for little bag. I'm waiting for the cool weather before I make another video. I noticed it vibrates a little when I put the bigger bag, I might make a 5" thick backboard out of 2x6's if I could find a 10" circular saw.

    Wow man that thing is a beauty. That platform looks like 3-4 inches thick. Does it absorb the vibration pretty well? Did you glue them all together? I I love it. You should make a video showing the thing getting done from scratch I would like to try that myself

      Thanks, yes about 3" thick, I made it for harsh weather and so I wouldn't need to place sandbags on top to keep vibration down. Glued and nailed together, difficulty is making 2x4's square on edge, so they butt up close, should have used a table saw instead of free hand. Not hard to do if you have tools. Thinking about making out of 2x6's, if I do I'll make another video from scratch but it won't be until after summer. Appreciate your comments, thank you.

    Nice work! Where did you find the hanging brackets for install? Thanks

    • @ray8093
      @ray8093  4 года назад +2

      The hanging brackets came from one of those particle board platforms (fell apart when it got wet) they sell at Big Five.

    Beautiful piece Ray ! What type of wood, glue, and finish did you use ? How much did the materials cost you ? How long to sand ?

    • @ray8093

      Thanks. I cut the round edges off (straightest I could find) regular 2x4s, Titebond professional strength wood glue and 3" framing nails to hold each one. I was careful on the 4 corners, didn't want damage to the circular saw. Only thing different I recommend is to use a 10" circular saw vs an 8". For waterproofing used oil based Varathane Ultimate Spar Urethane (exterior-semi). Also sprayed flex seal on top only. Material cost under $75. Belt sanding didn't take long with 50-80 grit, maybe 15mins. It gets up to 120 degrees here, will see how it does in the monsoon season and direct sun. Thanks for asking.

      Can we use plywood to make platform??

    • @ray8093

      @@pushkarpotdar01 2x4 studs, plywood wouldn't last in the heat and rain unless it's sealed all the time.

      Etsy has them made of RedOak, Poplar, Pine and Maple already, just type in Speed Bag Backboard. Just got to drill your own holes.
