    I love this channel. Missing pawn takes knight, rook takes, queen has to block, queen takes, checkmate is the kind of thing we've all done.
    Just last week I played a game that was 78 moves long. I eventially won, but in the analysis I missed checkmate in one on move 7. 😂😂😂😂

  • @kasciano24
    @kasciano24 8 месяцев назад +12

    The most interesting idea behind the position at 8:07 is that his analysis is correct that Rac1 exf3 Rxc3 is actually winning for white. After Qxc3 Rxe8 Bd8 Qxd8# I understand the depth is a bit much for a beginner. But when you drill yourself to take the position one move further you'll be able to find those brilliancies. Still, extremely strong progress for such a short amount of time playing. But it's also a good instructional moment.

  • @dimitryruizesparza2505
    @dimitryruizesparza2505 6 месяцев назад +5

    Maybe is a little bit late, but an important thing in chess is understanding the position. I'm not sure if there is someone explainning this type of things, but when you push a pawn, you make 2 squares and the diagonal weak.
    If you know this, you can see that when your opponent pushed the f and g pawns the weak white diagonal towards his king was completely open.
    In the minute 2:38 you can do Qh5+, he has to move with his king, because otherwise you take the queen with your knight. He has to do Kd8 or Ke7, if Kd8 you go Nf7 forking the king and the rook, and if he goes Ke7, you go Ng6 forking the king and the rook (again). In that position if he takes your knight with the pawn, you can take his rook.
    All this tactics come just from the knowledge of the positions and is better for you to actually understand them, than to memorize openings or cheap tricks that your oponents will try to do. In your elo, if you understand the position, you'll be imposible to beat.

    2:02 I'm actually thinking exf6 looks really good here. If either knight takes back you have Nxg5, and if queen takes you have Ne5 threatening Qh5 Ke7 Ng6 winning a rook if Black doesn't play h5, Bg6 if Black does play h5 you still have Bg6 Ke7 Bxh5 threatening Ng6 winning the rook, and if Kd8 instead of Ke7 in any of those lines, Nf7 just wins the rook, and if Kd6 you have Ng4 winning the queen, and if at any point Black tries to trade off your knight with Nxe5, you have Bxe5 with a nice skewer of your opponent's queen and rook. Way above your pay grade, but that's what I see.
    I guess the only issue is if Black plays 1... c4, forcing you to move the bishop, but after 2. Be2 you still have some major threats after Qxf6 Ne5, and even at minimum if one of the knights takes on f6 you still win a pawn with Nxg5 and have Bh5 as a serious future threat.

    I believe your beloved brilliant plan that fails on move 2 would actually be successful.
    If the move order is as you said: Rac1, exf3, Rxc3+, Qxc3. You have a discovered attack with the rook on the e file (Rxe8+). Only legal move is for the bishop to block on d8 followed by queen takes mate.

    5:05 here you have Ne4 threatening the Queen while also attacking the pawn on g5 and attacking the pinned pawn on d5. They have to move their queen and can’t defend both pawns. I would work on trying to see these discovered pins because they can lead to a lot of useful tactics

    8:50 I think you could also play the following moves, Be5 Rxe5 Qxe5 Qxe5 Nxe5. You don't get the pawn back, but you do force him to trade his rook for your bishop and you're +1 material. His c and e pawns are really overextended with very little support in that position so you should be able to win them eventually with the rook pair

  • @LeSpongedeStardust
    @LeSpongedeStardust 8 месяцев назад +1

    7:20
    Say the queen did take, what then? The e rook is completely open to capture the black rook, leading to a check. Even if they defend with the dark squared bishop, the king is trapped, and queen to f5 is a brutal checkmate, or my 600 elo mind is just dumb.

    05:05 I wonder what would happen if you moved Ne4 threatening to take the queen, and the pawn on d5 can't take because it is pinned, so the queen will probably move but it can't defend g5 and c3 simultaneously, or he pushes the c3 pawn to threaten your queen but you can take his queen with check and fork the king and the rook and then take the rook and when he takes your queen you just take back. (I'm also 600 elo)

    @10:03 you had some great potential with rookc8. If he blocks with bishop you take, he takes with king and then you check with bishop thinking he has to take and you icbm his queen, but instead he just moves king back and you go “fuck!”
    Alternatively if he goes to d7 you check with queen by taking the pawn and he has to go down where you take bishop . And then you realize he can just block the queen with the bishop and then it’s protected by the king and you go “shit!” (In this scenario when I was a 1000, I would start hallucinating that it’s my rook and not my queen and that I can take with the rook and then the queen would just take the queen except the pieces in my mind and in reality start to conflict and I’m a goofball)
    Also, there is some potential for queen to g6 check thinking if he goes to f8 your rook delivers checkmate only to realized he has two blockers and then you go “damn it!”

  • @איתיוייסבוך-ד8ס
    @איתיוייסבוך-ד8ס 8 месяцев назад

    4:44 not bad actually, he cannot take the c pawn because then you would just take the pawn behind it. however you need to be careful, your bishop is in danger.

  • @marvindunze8482

    After the whole calculation, wasn't rook d1 and Queen d7 also a possible more straightforward mate?

    • @ilyer4199
      @ilyer4199 8 месяцев назад +1

      It certainly is a more straight forward attempt at checkmate. Unfortunately, given that the opponent has like 7 minutes left on the clock, it might be too straightforward such that the opponent is able to see the attack more clearly and be able to effectively avoid it. For instance, Qe7 or Rh7 would neutralise that attack and give black tempo.
      A more complex plan keeps tempo (for white) and especially at these levels of ELO, might be overlooked by your opponent. Although that is probably true for all levels.

    • @marvindunze8482
      @marvindunze8482 7 месяцев назад

      @@ilyer4199Thanks for the answer, that makes sense. I am just 500 ELO myself so it's hard to come up with more subtle plans sometimes, but that's good practice then :)

    • @jack-o_lantern
      @jack-o_lantern 6 месяцев назад

      His initial calculation was good, betting on the opponent taking the free knight. If he first kicked blacks Queen off the f6 square by playing be5(like he planned earlier). Then If the opponent took the knight it was actually forced checkmate in three moves. 6:33 From this point, the full move order would be: be5, Queen likely goes to h6 to take bishop after it takes rook, rc1, pxf3, rxc3, bc7, rxc7, kb8, qxb7 checkmate.
