    Great video as always @Gent'sLounge. I definitely like the thought of the pairing a suede shoe with some dungarees. Goodyear welts are pricier because of the ease of being able to re-sole the shoe, however, due to the labor, it can be more costly. You also want to make sure the sole is actually sewn and it's not just an embossed mark on the top. To double check make sure you see the stitching on the actual sole of the shoe. While I love the concept of suede for a shoe I would actually leand towards a derby, or captoe double monk as double monks are actually considered pretty informal and speak to an air of casualness. I love the breakdown of balancing the proportions as well as the "weightiness" of denim. It's definitely necessary.

    I also think light washed jeans go well with derbies too, especially suede ones. Throw on a nice patterened button up on and your good to go. Blake stitched shoes are also a good alternative for those who feel like a goodyear welt is to expensive. Great video though.

    • @MattP-BandB
      @MattP-BandB 7 лет назад

      Blake welted shoes can be cheaper but in return you lose some water resistance. When it comes time to re-sole, Blake welted shoes are generally more expensive to do and require a special machine that not every shop has. Peace and Love

    • @2dahiphop
      @2dahiphop 7 лет назад

      Matthew Pearson Agreed. I'm aware of that as well, but despite the lack of water resistance. I think it would pay off for one to search for brands out there that offer the resoling of Blake shoes. Or even shoe cobblers who provide such services.

    Personally I only wear shiny dress shoes with suits, but I wear suede, nubuck or oiled leather dress shoes with jeans and chinos. Agree with brown shoes with blue jeans and a black shirt/t-shirt, but not brown shoes with black trousers. In reality there are really no rules, we should just wear what we are comfortable with.

  • @grantlinkenbach6130
    @grantlinkenbach6130 7 лет назад +3

    Are you sure about your description of a goodyear welt? I understand it to mean that the sole is completely leather, with actual stitching. I have a pair of Joseph Abboud brogues, and they have that exposed stitching on the top of the sole, but it's aesthetic and the sole is rubber. Also, a goodyear welted shoe isn't always bulky, and can be quite dressy (Allen Edmonds for example).
    Otherwise, another great video!

    • @MattP-BandB
      @MattP-BandB 7 лет назад +3

      Grant Linkenbach A Goodyear welted shoe does not have to mean a leather sole. You can have a rubber (Vibram or Dainite) sole or leather or a combination of both. Hope this helps to clear things up. Peace and Love

    • @StyleArchitexts
      @StyleArchitexts 7 лет назад

      Stacy Adams has definitely stepped up their game in the style department and they are making strides to be qualitative. You may just want to check out that you see stitching on the bottom of the sole, this will ensure you have a good year welt. If you don't you still will have a quality shoe you just may not be able to replace the sole once it's worn down. But they sound DOPE!

    Blake, this is a decent video. but the thing you mentioned about black jeans and brown shoes...it isn't a very beginner move in my opinion. medium and dark blue jeans with brown shoes could be a good start for those people. black jeans and brown shoes together require a little more understanding of style and experience to be pulled off well. but even still, some people may not dig it if they shows are too dark and creates little contrast.

    • @StyleArchitexts
      @StyleArchitexts 7 лет назад

      Great point it would definitely depend on the look you were going for. If you had sand or mocha suedes on it would definitely create contrast however if you did chocolate, oxblood, or cordovan shoes it could be an awesome pairing don't you think?

    Great video! I personally love double monkstraps combined with a good pair of denim, but I'm getting some mixed statements from this video, is it or is it not 'okay' to pair denim&monks?

    • @Ikari777
      @Ikari777 7 лет назад +1

      kipisgeenmus 100%, especially suede double monks!

    • @StyleArchitexts
      @StyleArchitexts 7 лет назад

      I could seem kind of confusing but double monks are actually considered a casual shoe, you really wouldn't want to wear them with a formal suit, maybe a sports suit or leisure suit but not when you're securing the bag at the negotiating table. Because of that monks, to me, are perfection when looking for a casually dressed type of shoes, get some in tobacco brown suede and you'd be dressed to kill. Remember suede is going to soften any look so adding it to selvedge denim would be a perfect balance as they mentioned.

    “Upwards of about $800”?! 🤣💸🙌🏽Hell no man there are shoes with exposed stitching that would look way better than those easily for a fraction of that price. I mean for less than $100. Leather or suede. There’s abso-fuckin-lutely no need to break the bank specially for those on a tight budget and are possibly upgrading their wardrobe for the first time. Good advice on the styling part nonetheless but come on, that much money for a single pair of shoes? You know people could buy great quality clothes and shoes for at least two years with that much money!!🤣😂😎

    I respectfully disagree with dress shoes and denim. Frankly, it's a trend that had it's time and will probably return again in the future. It reminds me of a time when men wore t shirts with vests, fedoras and a lot of accessories. Also a time when it was rebellious and cool to mix very formal pieces with very casuals pieces.
    Dressing down dress shoes is like dressing up sweat pants. You can probably achieve it but it never really ever looks effortless or purposeful.
    For the newbies keep it simple and streamlined. Instead try >>
    Dress shoes:
    Chinos (smart casual)
    Suits (formal)
    Denim:
    Sneakers (Casual)
    Chukka (smart casual)
    I agree with owning a good pair (300+) of resoleable shoes but I would recomend only wearing them when needed formal events. This denim and dress shoe look will leave you looking like a yuppie or a hipster.
    There are much better combinations that will make you look put together, effortless yet masculine.

    • @StyleArchitexts
      @StyleArchitexts 7 лет назад +1

      I definitely can't be mad at your sentiment Christian. It's unfortunate but we have moved to a much more casual society the days of men wearing leisure suits when going to brunch on the weekend in mass has deteriorated to a few "Odd men out" (pun intended) that catch our attention. Even most fortune 500 companies have adopted laxed uniforms. I'm definitely glad we have departed from the vest with tees and impotent trilbies fellas were calling fedoras. But I definitely like your advice for the young man who is looking to step up his statements in style. Great POV.

      Ted you can definitely wear oxfords with white or light denim, if you do I would recommend you don't go any darker than rust with color, so a sand, wheat, rust and those flow better with the rest of the look. And @Santi you definitely can wear loafers with white denim for the summer, I think he was more so addressing the dark denim for the fall and winter season. Not that you can't break the rules and wear some winter white ;)
