Thanks! I wanted to protect it. And ill make a video doing that. I actually already did that and have the winch rope with tension now so it's ready to use.
I got the winch cradle from Wal mart. Shocking, but good specs and reviews on it. It could handle 12k pull. The front mount hitch receiver was a 9k rating.
You’re losing a lot of amperage with those qd mounts. I believe they’re only rated at 175. Some are rated for 350 amps. But winches can max out at 400-430 amps. Momentarily, granted. But still.
i thought the same thing...meanwhile warn sells the same 175 amp quick connect with their 12k pound winch as an accessory,,and they use 2 guage wire for batteries...
was that 2ga wire adequate for your winch?
I like the cover. Put the truck in neutral and test the winch out.

Great info. Looking to put same on rear hitch.
How long is the cable you purchase from Amazon?
Thanks
The cable was actually part of the Badlands winch package from HF.
I'd say at least 6-8 feet would be needed. You can also trim it down.
just bought a used Xterra with this and also a 7 prong connector, both, in the rear. what were/are these for?
I installed these for my winch to battery to switch set up.
where did you get the cover, can you share a link?
It's been so long, I can't source the link. If memory serves, it was an amazon purchase for winch covers.
Where did you get the mount plate and is it rated for 12k lbs? Also where did yo I get the cover?
I just got me the same wicnch

So you ran the wire below your mount so you can drag them and damage them off road shorting out you battery?
I appreciate your round about suggestion. I wouldn't do it again this way next time, but do enjoy the benefits of the quick connect plugs.
Sorry. Very confusing post.
Lol, wasn't my best work.
