    I'm not familiar with military housing, It's nice that they provide furniture until your own arrives! Also how convenient that the outlets are U.S. outlets. What a HUGE help! I actually blew out an important piece of equipment as I didn't calculate a piece of equipment correctly. Also cute doggie! I'm American living in Berlin and brought my furry baby with me as well!

    • @JamieVaca
      @JamieVaca  4 года назад

      Yes it’s so nice. There’s not too many American outlets but at least I can use my vacuum and coffee machine. I think ultimately it’s still a transformer in the wall so it’s probably not too good for certain things but overall it’s been helpful.

    Like seriously? A closet being taxed in Germany? That’s ridiculous anyway your home looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing

    • @zippoblackburn3106
      @zippoblackburn3106 4 года назад

      that's just a wild fantasy. Taxes are paid for the land a house is built on. Reason why you might not find a walk in closet or built in closets is that you are in a rental property. Furniture rarely survives a tenant and replacing it would cost a fortune, furthermore kitchens are usually not included in rental apartments either, as the landlord would be required to replace it in a timely manner, even if the tenant broke it.

    • @JamieVaca
      @JamieVaca  4 года назад

      Zippo Blackburn could be because it’s a rental property. Thank goodness our home came with a kitchen or that’d be a hassle. Not sure where that rumor started about the closets but I’ve heard it a lot 😂😂

    It’s so interesting to see how a family lives when they are in the military. I can’t believe there are no built in closets there because they count as a room 🤭 I have a walk in closet lucky I live in Canada and it doesn’t count but a den counts as half a room here

    This makes me nervous coming from a 3 bedroom home... it is so tiny. Do you have to live on base or are you allowed to live off? Is there different housing for different ranks?

    • @JamieVaca
      @JamieVaca  3 года назад

      This is “off base” but it’s government leased so it’s all done through the housing office. I elaborate on the housing policy in this video ruclips.net/video/Pzng9RB2YlE/видео.html but if you’re coming to Vilseck/graf it’s 98% chance you’ll live in “government leased housing.” I think recently they’ve tried to separate a little more officer from enlisted but overall I’d say rank doesn’t play a role as much as family size.

    What rank is he? I’m a PVT moving to Vilseck with my wife. Do you think we could get the same housing?

    • @JamieVaca
      @JamieVaca  3 года назад +1

      he was an E4 when we moved here 3 years ago. we are definitely the exception. it's not impossible to get a 3 bedroom house without children, but it's more likely you'll get a two bedroom, but if you want to live off post, just request it, it's about 50-50.

      @@JamieVaca Is your husband Infantry? I’m going to 3/2 CR. My wife was wondering what a daily life would look like there. She’s pretty nervous. Worried I’m gonna be gone all time and what not.

    • @JamieVaca
      @JamieVaca  3 года назад +1

      @@andrewheckle1508 my husband's not infantry, but i would bank on going on at least one rotation to Poland, 2CR is almost always there and the Squadrons just seem to rotate. It's definitely a high-tempo base with lots of fields, and rotations. With covid though, everything has slowed down so it's kind of hard to say.
      It's more of a stereotypical "army wife" experience than a base in the states since we're in a foreign country the spouses depend on each other more and are more eager to make friends. Tell her not to worry too much, we're all in the same boat and I've never been to a duty station with more helpful families, every question she will have along the way someone else will have already struggled with and be ready to help.

      It’s still gov housing off post. Unless you’re an officer or have special circumstances there is mandatory gov housing in Bavaria (Graf/Vilseck) rank isn’t highly considered, more so family size, school proximity and availability.
