I think you forget to go over the concept of combat atk. Brimstone and Starlight engine provide combat atk, which is multiplicative to your total atk on the stat page before battle. That is why they are incredibly strong, with brimstone on par with zhu sig wpn for her. Also regarding fusion compiler, I am not sure how Jane Doe gonna keep up the 3 stacks for AP, especially when the stack duration is calculated separately. She does not seem like the one that spams special like Grace. Pen ratio is also not that great until you get a lot of it.

Easy answer Brimstone for dps Hellfire engine for impact Don't pull for support S rank. Slice of time and The vault (Nicole's Wengine) are already good enough.
If you think about it, the cost is more than 30 pulls. If you consider that by doing those 30 pulls, your going to get you more currency to help buy more of those pulls.
Not only that, you literally speed up 5* pity too. So always get more pulls. It’s been almost 4 years and people still making this type of video while the answer was already there when Genshin released.
Factoring in the lost currency by not pulling and then spending again you lose say 40 pulls in total, but that's 40 pulls for a S w-engine of your choice! You don't build pity but its essentially pulling on the w-engine banner and then 'losing' the 75/25 to the w-engine you wanted from the standard pool. It's a solid deal. I main dps Koleda so I'll be definitely buying her w-engine for the visuals and then Lycaon's for the damage.

Genshin's case isn't even the same, lol. You can't get Royal and Blackcliff weapons from any banners, and you can't purchase any 5 star weapon. Idk why you're so keen on comparing Genshin of all games to ZZZ. Why not compare a game that ACTUALLY has a similar store? Aka, HSR. In the case of Star Rail, there are actually good weapons (Light Cones) you can obtain from the shop, namely Bronya's LC and Sleep Like The Dead. For ZZZ, some weapons are actually extremely competitive to even signatures, and you can guarantee it for less pulls. Grace: Great. Around a 10~20% increase over A-ranks without downsides and scales well with more PEN%. Although the battle pass one is slightly better at s5, that requires $50 and five months. Her signature pulls ahead again with any copies too. Decent for other characters. Koleda: Decent. You trade some daze for energy, the extra EX specials make up for the lost daze uptime. Marginally better than A-ranks at s0. Good for other characters. Lycaon: Bad. It has a ramp-up daze and no utility. The idea isn't terrible, but A-ranks are almost equal in every regard. It's still Lycaon's bis, he can stack it almost immediately and the numbers are high enough. Bad for other characters. Nekomata: Great. Unsurprisingly, it meshes seamlessly with her gameplay. Better than any A rank by a good number. Decent for other physical attackers. Soldier 11: Great. Same as above. Basically, an improved version of A rank options without their downsides. No crit rate or additional effects hurt it a bit. Universally strong for any attacker. Rina: Good~Great. It's really hard to evaluate. There are very few alternatives for support and all feel pretty restrictive. While Rina suffers the least from this, I expect something like Nekomata's signature; a seamless upgrade without downside. A support without their signature feels awful. Only Rina and Lucy can use this consistently.

I think we should mention how Honkai Star Rail Standard Lightcone shop was so tempting initially too especially since Genshin never had those. However after sometime, most of those lightcones are bad and most of the time never best in slot. Most 4 stars and even some 3 stars have more usage than the standard Lightcones. Never really worth the 30 pulls, but fine if you get them at the standard free wishes.
You didn’t talk about the Restrained or the cooking pot (which are my 2 stun engines rn), what do you think about them? Also you didn’t talk about the Anomaly engines as well. I did pick up Electro Lip gloss because it seems to be the best out of all the battle pass engines.
I think out of all of them the only one that’s really worth buying is the Brimstone. Some calc has shown that it is straight up comparable to Zhuyuan’s signature weapon’s dmg, of course with caveat where you have to build up stacks. Also being that it gives attack so in the future, in this game where you’re encouraged to have different elemental DPS, as long they scale with atk you can just use this. As for your thought on Fusion core, you’ve said that Pen ratio is universal, while I don’t disagree but why not ATK% substat instead since that’s the stat that is used for both anomaly and crit dps like you’ve also said? Atk would straight up benefits your DPS right away and same with HSR where for pen ratio to really outshine is when you stack enough. As for weeping cradle, Rina’s sig, I think it’s funny that Lucy can proc the passive and maintain full stack quite easily since her boar is pretty much on field all the time. imo support’s buff in this game is just too darn short. Outside of Soukaku at 22s and Lucy’s 10s. The rest are 3s without cinemas.

PEN RATIO ignores a percentage of enemy defense (ex. 10% pen ratio vs. enemy with 1000 def = 100 def ignore) PEN ignores a flat amount of defense (ex. 100 pen = 100 def ignore)
Pen ratio is a personal stat. If your support has 20% pen ratio, then only your support has that pen, it does not affect the rest of your team. The one exception is Rina, who can give some of her pen ratio to the on-field character due to her core passive.
Buying w-engine on shop is not a good choice since you can just use it for summons instead.. 30x pulls can be used for limited w-engine banner and 4 star w-engines are still good and quite competitive compared to 5 stars standard..
I'm debating between fusion compiler (anomaly) and weeping cradle (support) myself. Weeping cradle seems extremely strong for lucy, while fusion compiler I'd truly only think about getting when I have grace.
While yes you always have the possibility to obtain these, I think using that as the main reason to not buy them is very flawed. I played genshin for a little over a year and in that time I got c4 Diluc, but never a single copy of either Jean or Keqing. Not necessarily the same thing but I've also played FGO for over 4 years and there are still a handful of permanent 5 and 4 that I don't have, and that's with a fair bit of whaling.
I got back to back restrained from the standard banner. Idk if thats lucky or not but Anby and now Qingyi are who I have out the most when i play so...
wait you forgot to explain about the steam oven, i just grind for the r5 for my anby bcs i test it out myself to get quicker stun for her the R1 can stun quicker by 4 seconds and only level 10!, meanwhile my demara wengine is lvl 40/50! r2, so i feel it does better damage for anby but i only want her to stun quicker…
although it has a er substat but the wengine effect could gain higher impact by 3% which is 4 seconds different but i dont if its better than the precious fossilized core
Considering this covers a guaranteed means to obtaining an S-rank W-Engine, it would have been interesting to compare W5 versions with limited banner W-Engines.
You underestimate how much you need to pull to get Phase 5 of a W-Engine from the shop. That's a whopping 3000 currency's worth of pulls, which is even more absurd than saving up and pulling for a P5 signature W-Engine.
Probably not worth it for most players. I am getting The Brimstone for Zhu Yuan since it's essentially equal to her signature for less than half the price, but I think that is the exception. After getting that (soon!) I'll spend all future signals on pulls. Only exception might be if Nicole shows up in the shop and I have enough to get her (M5 right now, and it bugs me). She could also show up in any given 10 pull which is always the risk with buying mindscapes.
I’d disagree on zhu her sig also changes how she functions. Using an ex special gives her full shot stacks so it lets her be a sustained on field dps instead of a burst.

If you grind the contents you can actually get ~1-2 S ranks from the standard banner already, I personally am one of the unluckiest people here, getting 5 stars at 50 on beginner, then 80 on standard banner. And I will not trade the W engine for Grace from the first 50, but I will go for Brimstone for my S11 that came out at 80 on standard instead. This is just my example of not getting for the “First” from the 50 rolls. Yes as f2p or low spenders we gotta be selective with the W engines, but not exactly as you said.

Weeping Cradle is very good for Nicole too, since her energy field stays for while after leaving via Quick Assist.

No weapons worth 30+ pulls. It’s minimum 3 agents and 40% of 5* pity. Just craft Starlight weapon it only 10% worse than Brimstone.

@@keenno2001 if your f2p like I am, you dont have alot of S ranks so you are more selective with the Signature W Engine. In Star Rail that was Clara and her Light cone. In ZZZ its Nekomata and her W Engine. if your a whale my advice doesn't matter.

If you grind the contents you can actually get ~1-2 S ranks from the standard banner already, I personally am one of the unluckiest people here, getting 5 stars at 50 on beginner, then 80 on standard banner. And I will not trade the W engine for Grace from the first 50, but I will go for Brimstone for my S11 that came out at 80 on standard instead.
This is just my example of not getting for the “First” from the 50 rolls.

Wrong, it heavily depends on the game this isn’t genshin where there are lots more options if you don’t get the signature, here even the a ranks get a signature that alone tells you that they are necessary for your characters your not gonna get by well with random engines their effects are specific

People actually buys 5 star weapons when you can get them on standard pulls? People also did this on HSR and I can say its not worth it. Premium pulls>weapons/lc/wengine
