Ralph was the mastermind behind the PAT tests years ago and he converted those into his on training app called Check Billiard. It’s a great self training app that many Euro players use while developing for the Euro Tour. His endless drills (there a few of them) are a pure form of training and a very young Thorsten Hohman is on the PAT videos from the early 2000’s demonstrating them. Thanks, Rollie for taking the trip and highlighting such an excellent instructor.
Hello from High Springs, Florida. thank you for all your videos. I'm 67 retired new APA 5 and have learned so much from all your guest experts. This Centerfield drill is a very good training drill and I do it a lot. I know the covid thing has stopped the momentum you had going but please find a way to bring new episodes. Love ya man. Thanks so much for these Rollie, production team and Guests. As new player (started in May), these videos have been crucial in developing not only the fundamental skills, but also the lens of digesting other content - what to notice and what questions to ask. Thanks again.

Rollie, these videos are simply GREAT. I've been a good Runout Player, for 60 years. After watching Pool & Billiards grow on You Tube, for the last 20 years, I think Pool has changed. The path to the Winner's Circle, has to pass through the Break Shot Practice Room or you'll always be an also ran... No Break Shot, no Winner... The BreakRAK is where it's at...
Ralph is such a professor of the game , you get educated every time he opens his mouth . Ralph Eckert is one of those consummate PRO pool players! He is always willing to help "average" players improve their game. I seen him do his exhibition at the SBE about 6 years ago. I bothered him for just 1 good tip to improve my game and he was happy to explain to me even when NOT doing exhibition. A total Gentleman and elite pool player. What he told me then, he shared with Rollie here at 15:10
By Far.. the best teacher I've ever seen! Rollie.. I TRULY HOPE You will have him on again!!!!!!! I am sure he has WAY More he can teach us (professional) rookies!!!!!!! Wow, he is good :-) Thanks for the Vid!!!!!
Nice video Rollie, ty. Anyone that gets to spend time with Ralph is very fortunate, he's definitely one of the best instructors in the world. Ralph, I think I'm stealing (borrowing) those centerfield drills for my own lessons, well done.
wow those 40 minutes were fast. enjoyed every second of your vid. Ralph seems like a calm, warm guy. That center drill is great. I will definatly try it. Thx Rollie for vid !
That's a very good way of teaching. Many coaches just tell you what's wrong and work on that. However Ralph gives you options and challenges to try different things, gather experience and see what works best for you. Beginners often think that's not as efficient...they often just want to hear what's wrong and how to do it right. Ralph's way of teaching might not fix a problem as quick but it helps the student with developing his skills on his own. Most of the time you don't have a coach telling you what to do. Ralph's method kind of helps you become your own coach so that you can work things out even when he's not there (to a certain extent). In the long run that's much better than just having the answers handed to you on a silver plate.
Awesome video. Looking at the drills....I said "easy, I'll have that down in a few hours". To say I was mistaken is an understatement! I can maybe clear the table a few times at best!
Ralph drops his elbow on nearly every shot. Lots of pros tell you not to do this, but I think it's the best way to ensure a good follow through, essential to good cue ball control.
Ralph has his FB page, where he posts some very interesting pool stuff. Most recently, he posted an extraordinary object ball JUMP carom. He jumped the cue ball into the eight ball, lifting it off the table, into another ball, caroming it off that ball, over two others and pocketing it beautifully. Best part, he must have corresponded with me repeatedly over the next couple days while I worked it out myself, and comparing my efforts to the original... He was gracious and asked for nothing. Just happy to share the game. He is one of my favorites to watch and watch coach. Thanks, JB
Ralph is a great teacher. I saw him coaching in Czech Republic. I was there to play snooker but my eyes were watching him all the time. Another great coach is Alex Lely.

Hey man just started watching your videos the other day! Great content! I enjoy watching someone improve over time! I’m rooting for you man! From one up and comer to another! Doing an awesome job
Rollie, you're really great at taking in the teaching. I can see you're very attentive, asking questions, applying past lessons, etc. The best part of what you're doing here is teaching people how to be good listeners and learners, which is not an easy skill. I'd love to see practice videos in which you measure the drills you've been given showing improvement. Imagine doing that coupled with fun bar pool videos in which you show results, keeping it light playing at dive bars and showing measured win rate, etc. You'd gain a huge following methinks ;-).
I genuinely learned from this video and I am extremely satisfied. I will now go on and decide weather I should share this amazing knowledge or use it to my advantage against my future non worthy opponents.
Very interesting and very entertaining videos. I would watch these even if I wasn't a pool player... in fact I'm not, I'm an average British snooker player, but I have learnt loads from your channel. It's a goldmine. Cheers Rollie.
this was interesting , I also try to find practice sessions that are not boring. I order a pool table from home, its 7 foot since I dont have space for bigger but it will defently make me better player. At pool halls you really dont practice that much because of the hour wage, you want to play to get more value for your money. That was the main reason to investe in a pool table at home.
To excel at this game is not easy. It requires a great deal of practice, patience, concentration and confidence. Each shot you attempt is made up of four elements, angle, speed, spin and stroke. If you can respect and work at all those things and keep your love for the game alive, you will succeed. Cheers.
@UCFb66Vm_lN8O6pGi3asePxgThanks Declan. The stroke is key, you are correct. I was listing the decisions to make as well as the possibilities involved when approaching the nuances of particular shot in the game you are playing. For example, a draw shot for position in 10 ball, as opposed to a bank shot to close out a game of 8 ball or a delicate 2 cushion safety in a snooker match. Stroke, angle, speed and stroke, I will try it. Cheers

SVB is not a good teacher, he came out with a 3 video series and every shot had to be coaxed from him by his co-host, even then a lot of the replies where "I just want an angle" or "for me this is how I shoot, I can be anywhere this side, that side". It was pretty much 3 videos that boil down to two things "don't get jacked up over a ball" and "don't get straight in". Even watching him in person at several places with kids and others, he does not know how to get players better nearly as well as some other players half as good as him.
Did you know that you can use Adobe to fix the crazy lens distortion on fish-eyes and ultra-wide lenses? It takes some processing power, but I think it's worth it for overhead shots like that.
I understand why you wanted to start off by playing racks to match the format of your other videos in this series but personally I would rather watch the instructor do the same thing with you as he would with any other student.
