I was at the Tulsa Raceway Park last Saturday afternoon when I saw pro mod losing control of her car she hit the wall about 400 feet on the track car had a little bit of damage and the driver was okay
My first wreck I saw was in 2003 when Del Worsham had a major engine explosion at the finish line bouncing and jostled around until the sand trap stopped his car. Best video to see is called ‘funny car loses body at 300mph’.
Brittany Force's crash was really something in that this courageous woman still went on to race and eventually drive a dragster to hold the fastest record! Great guts and determination, sweetheart 😘

About the John Force and Kenny Bernstein crash, John's injuries were not minor. He suffered severe leg and arm injuries. Bernsteins car hit a timing block on the center line and that sent debris in Johns lane. It blew out Johns right rear tire and that with the force of the tug from parachutes ripped Johns car apart.
yeah. video is quite clear, shows bernstein clipping the timing block sending it into the rear tire and instantly demolishing the back of the car releasing the chute.
The cockpits in all types of race cars are truly amazing.

One of the worst drag racing crashes I've ever seen. I'm surprised it wasn't on this video.
I remember watching 2 of these wrecks on a Diamond P Sports VHS I had when I was a kid.
I actually had Tony Schumacher sign an autograph at maple grove raceway in 2022. It’s surprising how many wrecks he endured.
Im not well read on safety standards for drag racing cars, but many of these crashes looks worse than what they are, because the speed is scrubbed off over long distances. Generally speaking, when it comes to high speed trauma, the worst accidents are when there's been a heavy deceleration.
Why is it so out of focus?
drivers are not 'trapped' in their cockpits but securely held in them for safety reasons. any race car driver is safest in their seats. the rare exception being Alex Zanardi being the more famous case

The John force crash with Kenny was very bad the car broke in half with John's legs coming dangerously close to losing them so yea he had more than minor injuries some where quit severe
Force's problems started when Bernstein crossed the centre line hitting one of the timing boxes which fired it off into Force's tire causing it to fail.
Jerry Yeomans Crash was in 2014, not 2001

Doug Kaletta died in his Dragster in a horrible crazy into the sand and killed him instantly . Sad day in AHRA racing. 😮😢
Scott Kalitta was the one who died. Doug Kalitta won the 2023 NHRA top fuel championship and is still currently racing.
