I'm guessing -- believe the base for vise is cast metal. It can be welded , BUT watch out for heat or stress cracks from vibration. Had an incident of a cast weld breaking and electric motor just missed my foot when it fell. Keep up the videos
Thanks for the tip!! Hey, I'm back to making videos, and there are some additions to the ballast coming up!!! No issues with the vice as of yet... i use it even when the box isn't mounted to the tractor! Can't sharpen the chainsaw with out it!!
could always weld a couple of bolts to the box to hold the vice.
Never even thought of that!!!
It’s never just one thing in Jonny’s garage…always a project on the go!!
You’re right!!! Just can’t stop!

I’m starting my ballast box build and found your channel. My welds are big and ugly too and mine hold MOST of the time.
thanks for coming in and watching. have been away from the channel for a year!!! But I am back to the things I love now!!
Love these!!!
Thought you might add a chain box on top of your ballast box where the chainsaw motor rests when you sharpen the chain. The chainsaw would be level.
Nice!!! Great idea.
Yes great idea. I’m actually doing a part 2 to this video and working on a couple mods. This will be in the list for sure!!! Thanks!!
An old tool belt attached to the side of your box might be a good way to hold/hang your axe??? Follow me for more Ballast Box hacks!!!
You’re my hero!
