      Thanks Steve! I appreciate it... Well, with any luck there should be some more coming for a bit at least. I got a Trail Boss one in the works and if the weather stays nice, the MF14 repair is finally going to start this weekend. Going to push as many projects through while it's slow here so when the busy season starts...

  • @jimthvac100
    @jimthvac100 3 года назад

    From what I read this problem was also endemic to the 180. If I had this issue on a tractor today I would look into the possibility of mating a Case 400 series rear axle assembly to this tractor as they are much more heavy duty. The differences that I am aware of are this older design had a much better braking system (disk) compared to a single Drum that only stops the transmission on the 400 series. Low pressure electric fuel pumps for these make them much easier to start when they are cold. After setting a while the gas takes a long time to get to the carburetor because the fuel tank is located below the engine and the stock vacuum operated fuel pump only moves the fuel very slowly as you are cranking the engine over. I really do like the looks of the round headlights and round fenders on the 180.

    Great Intro, Jake! You know...I think the engineers that design the tolerances do that on purpose..."just a 1/16th more...nope..gotta take this off..after this but before that..but only when this is loose...and those are knocked to the left..." then they watch the repair vids at their company picnic and laugh their butts off....

      @5Tractorguy  6 лет назад

      Hey thanks Dave! Dang engineers... of course they don't have to work on anything too. It's like opening the hood of a truck pre1990ish and one from today... chuck full to the brim with hoses, sensors, wires and useless junk to make an engine run. Trying to re-invent the wheel I guess.

    Good job, thanks for the video. I have a couple questions:
    1. Where do I drain the transmission oil?
    2. You mentioned this tractor wouldn't be used hard, is using that plow blade considered hard?
    I ask because I got a 195 and I'd like to use it to push snow but it if would be better off using it in the local parade due to not being very stout and hard to find parts, I'm okay to do that.

    • @5Tractorguy
      @5Tractorguy  4 года назад +1

      Thanks Spencer.
      1. Oil drain plug is on the front face of the transmission casting where the hydraulic lines enter. It will be to the right of the lines if looking at it straight on.
      2. Would and wouldn't. I'd push fluffy snow, mulch or a little bit of dirt, but nothing more. As long as the material isn't heavy. Previous owner used to plow snow with this like no tomorrow so I think that's what did the shaft in. May want to stick with the parade... these shafts are tough to find.

    • @sokey70
      @sokey70 4 года назад

      5Tractorguy thank you. Maybe I’ll get a Cub Cadet for some heavy duty work and the case for parades. Should be fine pulling a small trailer with kids?

    • @5Tractorguy
      @5Tractorguy  4 года назад +1

      @@sokey70 Go for it! You'll be fine with a trailer... It's moving piles of dirt as high as the blade, heavy wet snow, bucking the trans, running into something with the plow and spinning the tires that'll make that shaft snap.

    • @5Tractorguy

      The rear end (transmission case) on the 100 series is the hydraulic reservoir. Lines for the pump thread into the bottom of the case in the front.

      how to drain te oil ?? what is the method to flush te hydraulic system for a new oil ( bad english i speak french )

    • @5Tractorguy
      @5Tractorguy  5 лет назад

      Not a problem, I understand. Oil drain plug is to the right beside the lines going into the front of the transmission case. As for flushing the system, removing/loosen all the lines possible underneath to let them drain. If possible, remove the left most line that goes into the front of the transmission, this has the pickup screen for the oil, always good to clean if you can.

    • @5Tractorguy

      Where they roll pinned the end of the axle in the differential gear... knock that pin out, remove the brake caliper and you'll be able to slide the axle out of the housing. The axle seal sits in the end of the housing.
