This was my Father's favourite song. May Allah bless both in Jannat-ul-Firdous Ameen.
واہ کیا بات ہے.. اقبال بانو کیا انداز ہے.. سُر تو جیسے اس کی غلام تھی.
This was my nana abbus favourite song.. He used to sit on the veranda and silently cry while listening to this classic on audio cassette.. He passed away this spring.. This brings back his memories.. I will always remember my nana g while listening to this song..
اللہ ان کی مغفرت فرمائے اور جواہر رحمت میں آعلی مقام عطا فرمائے۔امین

سنہری یادیں
One feels Melancholic after listening and watching such gems from days gone , as a young kid I have seen these master pieces of culture and arts on PTV , I was not old enough back then to appreciate them , And when I have the mental capacity to marvel at their stature they are no longer there , so much has changed , for the worse as we have fallen into intellectual bankruptcy .1977 forever changed our cultural outlook .
YEH GHAZAL ITNI KHUBSOORAT DILKUSH AUR MASOOM HAI JIYO JIYO IQBAL BANOJI

This ghazal and another, Qateel Shifai's "Ulfat ki nayi manzil ko chala", are soul-stirring and immortal ghazals of Iqbal Bano that I have been listening to for the last over 45 years all the time admiring the beauty of her voice, the melody, the words of Qateel and the simple but mesmerising instrumental accompaniment. It is my great fortune that I accidentally tuned my TV in Delhi when PTV was playing this programme. Though I had not seen Iqbal Bano either in person or in a photograph or movie/TV and could not recognise her in the programme, when she began the above tune, in the very first few notes, I could instantaneously recognise her great song and a favourite of mine.

Sir that ulfat me nayi manzil ko chala is just class apart. And I would also mention dasht e tanhai by bano. Both these renditions remain my fav Bano ones!!
Sir she was born in Delhi ...
Perfect assessment, and too support fully.

You are absolutely spot on ❤
Sincerest appreciation and respect,
Music transcends borders,
Iqbal Bano ji instantly reaches to the heart
Indeed
The best female ghazal singer ever embraced this universe....maar hi dala
superbly sung by Bano, even improvised in Nikhar ! kiya awaz aur tayyari thi !!
A couple of these legends are alive in 2020, Great ghazal by great artist.
Actually, this is the most beautiful song setting aside the intellectual idiocracies of the ghazals by so called important poets.. both the words and the music never became so 'together' in any other songs.
Great singer from our Goldenpaat the time when fanoon e latifa is alive in Pakistan now Taliban & khadim rizvi
No doubt she was a queen of ghazal signing
May her soul rest in peace
she should not have died.like her immortal voice she should have lived till eternity.
Ranjit Das
yes..... certainly . But The God has immortalised her voice and her face, gestures in our mind.
How many great legends we have lost in the Indian subcontinent. This is tragedy of human life.

Thanks you Tauseef - MS. Bano is unyielding and uncompromising in her delivery - as usual. Alas, wish I was old enough to witness her magic in person!
I have seen in this gathering like Late Nayyara Noor and Ahmad Fraze and many other. I live in london, England and belong to Delhi. India a refugee twice!
Jabardust Gana hai. It is very difficult to sing like her. Ranganath Iyer, Mumbai, India.
Mahadeva Ranganath
Yes she has a unique voice and style.
Thank you for uploading this beautiful song. Imagine Ashfaq Ahmad Sb playing the host in this PTV program. PTV used to come up with such wonderful programs. Just look at the audience. Big names. All enjoying, appreciating and honouring Iqbal Bano. That used to be our culture. All gone unfortunately. Sad!
yes even the person of ashfaq Ahmed's height is sitting on the floor, which is a posture of high ethics
Thanks to exercises in forced renovations..

What a beautiful song. Wonderfully written and sung.
Back in the days when the ladies in a pakistan till wore sarees, and did not colour their hair with too much mehendi and did not exactly have to be petite to be beautiful. How natural they look here
her voice seems Immortal
Look at nayyara noor a legend in making.
Wow I want to relive 70s
Yeah I saw her she was very innocent
This recording seems to be sometime around 1950 to 60 & surprising part is the composition is in "Shudh Hindi" being sung in Pakistan by a Muslim Singer. It's beyond imagination, where are our roots !
Iqbalk Banoji was born and lived her younger years in Delhi and after marriage despite moving her residence to Pakistan visited Delhi off and on. Her Delhi mehfil of ghazals is also available on RUclips.
Geet is a genre of Urdu poetry which uses Hindi words and imageries and meter common in Hindi poetry. This song is a geet, not a ghazal. Hence the vocabulary. Several Urdu poets, including Faiz, have written geets.
@@jamilahmad5937 Sorry, if I have mistaken by calling a geet as ghazal. I however have a doubt. If ghazals can be sung in Urdu and Persian without being called otherwise, why not ghazals in Hindi or why the need to call them only as geet ? Hope I have not hurt anyone's literary sensibilities by expressing my doubt.
@@chandrashekhara.k.1928 Just as in English a sonnet has a specific structure, which is different from other poems, ghazal has its own structure. The first two lines rhyme, with the overall pattern AA, BA, CA, DA etc. Usually each couplet (or sh'er) deals with an independent subject, which does not necessarily have any connection with the other couplets, except perhaps the general mood of the ghazal. Of course there are also continuous ghazals but they are not very common. Hindi poets have also written ghazals, but they follow the vocabulary, imagery, figures of speech similar to Urdu ghazal. In fact, except for being written in Devanagari script, they are indistinguishable from Urdu ghazal.
In addition to ghazal, Urdu poetry has nazm (a poem on one topic), masnavi (one topic, with patter of rhyme AA, BB, CC ..), qawwali, geet, even doha, and of course blank verse, among others.
Ghazal has disappeared from modern Persian literature. In fact the only language in which ghazal survives is Urdu, with the above qualification about Hindi, and other related languages.
The Google forum Alt.Language.Urdu.Poetry is an excellent place to discuss all these topics.
Chandrasekhar, ghazal is a very tightly structured poetic form, irrespective of language. If the poet follows structure, then ghazal can be in any language. Even there are ghazals written in english.
Firaq was one of the poets who used more hindi words in ghazals
Immortal....
