Great interview and good luck to Stephanie and her new business. Also, the US largely portrays Mexico as a dangerous place to visit and live outside of the more commonly known tourist destinations so many people dont view it as an alternative place to live, which is quite the opposite.
Just found your channel! Great interview! My significant other and I just started traveling and currently living in Thailand. We are loving it!! This is our first stop and we want to travel around more but Thailand is really impressing us at this moment. We did the same thing. We quit our jobs and said forget it we want to travel lol. We did our research never been to Thailand but we did have a plan. Yes Airbnb and FB groups are definitely the way to go to get your grounding. Just traveling itself, being in a beautiful country and having your dollar stretch far has been amazing!
Wonderful guest Cartess. You stated that you had only been in Merida for a week. Cartess you have come a long way. I met you and I have been watching your videos in Boston for 2 1/2 yrs. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Cartess, you’re wonderful and inspiring dude, been following you since Free Magic School at 2007. I sincerely suggest you to improve you level of production. I know you’re into pure DIY thing, but I really think it will grow your numbers a lot. Greetings from Moscow, Russia.
They're cracking down .... Back in the day, when you showed up, most folks got 180 days by default. It was just given. Not so much anymore. You need to have a valid reason for why you're here. If your hotel shows only two weeks, u risk only getting that. You'll need to have valid reasons to get the full 180. It's a lot more detailed than this but it's not too much of an issue if you're not trying to game the system. They're really trying to push long term visitors towards getting residency. Gaming the system with 6-month border runs is what they're cracking down on. If you gonna be here longterm, much easier to do the residency paper work before coming.
“Black Australians”? Lol! They’re called “Aborigines “, They are indigenous, actually have brown skin, very brown skin, look like you, and not placed via “slavery”. They are not “black” and know their nationality. They are suffering the same fate as Americas’ indigenous- by the same hands. Please read history of Australia and understand, it is not a European country- not yet.

They think you’re from US or Haiti because there is a growing Haitian population that came to Mexico because of all the drama in Haiti. I lie in TJ and there are HUGE communities of Haitian French speakers 🥰🥰
Thanks for the video.. I plan on moving and retiring somewhere outside the U.S. when I retire in a few years. It's not an easy choice for me. I have been to so many countries in the world, but I still don't know where I want to settle as I become older. How is the noise level in Mexico? I have been told that it's a very noisy place with constant fireworks, etc, etc.. Is this so?
@@comrade916 I don't recall hearing dogs in my stay in Merida. It was rather quite. Mexico CIty is extremely noisey however, fireworks and massive parties.
Not that kinda noise where I'm at (in Merida), maybe other parts of Mexico. Colombia is loud as hell, lol!!! Barking dogs can be an issue here but you can work around that. Just gotta come explore it as an option to be certain.
I sense great chemistry between you and the lady speaking. You and her might end up becoming a couple and having a baby in Mexico and getting permanent residency.
After much thought I've decided that my top 3 most important things are... 1. Having a warm place to live. 2. Having an affordable place to live. 3. Living free where I'm not controlled by a bunch of narcissists. None of those things are available in the United States.
After visiting, Merida I wouldn’t recommend it. It was my least favorite state in Mexico. The roaches and frogs at my Airbnb traumatized me. I stayed in a fine hotel and a tarantula wondered into the lobby. It’s super hot there. Too hot to really go anywhere and enjoy it.
It is obviously not for everyone, however on your traumatizing experience finding frogs and roaches and too hot for you put the whole State in the same basket not to recommend? Closed mind it and out order of your part. I live in the UK and rains alot here and I find frogs and spiders here as well. Life goes on
I live in Florida. Lizards. Frogs. Palmetto bugs (flying roaches) are a fact of life. They find their way into the cleanest of houses. Don’t let little things ruin a possible blissful life. Attitude and flexibility is everything.
black people would not be high on the list for kidnap... they assume (correctly)for the most part that our families will not have enough ransome money.

ADO was nice. I took it from Cancun all the way to the belizean border
I'm gonna take a ride one day, i keep hearing how nice the buses are.
This was wonderful!! Thank you!!
You are most welcome friend!
Ross can you talk about the current immigration/Expat issues in Mexico. Keep hearing they will not give you the 180 day stay anymore?
There is no guarantee they will give you a 180 day visa lately and the days of border runs are over. That's correct.

How can we follow her? Is the temporary visa the same process for minors as well?
The process is the same for minors
Yep. The same. She'll be launching a website/channel soon.
I did not know you were from the SIP! I am from Gulfport, MS
Yes!!! Them SIPS ain't no joke LOL
I"m up in the Delta!
She’s beautiful.

Question; if you don’t live near a consulate can you apply for your application online or do you actual have to travel to a consulate.
You can only apply at a consulate outside of MEXICO

The noise is true of Mexico City. Not Merida.
@@astrozoo So, there aren't dogs barking on rooftops every other house in Merida?

you could learn Spanish or Mayan language ... Mayan language is still use in some parts of Quinta roo or Yucatan
I'm hoping to be much more conversational in the next 6 months.

Correct.

You about to get Senor Ross killed in Mexico. We love this man don't do that to us 😆
Great friend chemistry.
You can stay in Mexico for up to 180 days, then you have to leave and come back in and the 180 days starts over.
Or not... They have been giving out much shorter visas lately and the days of border runs are over... Fyi. Time's are changing.
Not so easy to get any more... They're cracking down very hard right now.
