It's a technical marvel for sure. You have Doom running on something that has absolutely no right to be playing it and it works surprisingly well for that.
fantastic work! those sound effects back then are enough to make me want to do a swan dive into hell personally ROFL, obviously you are prob limited on what the hardware can produce, just cracks me up.
@@Charles-mv7sv There's always a way. Just depends on how much time you're willing to invest into it. There are guys that have gotten old versions of Windows to run on modern hardware. Getting DOS to run is no big deal, in comparison. But why bother? Your 2019 hardware can easily run Doom on DOS in a virtual PC, and probably emulate something better than a stout Pentium 1 if you're really bored. Or you know. You could just pick a source port like everyone else has been doing for 20 years.
@@Charles-mv7sv The real question is "Why is third party software bad?" It is entirely possible to run Doom under DOS on your hardware. You are just too lazy to do it, and so is everyone else. So either get DOS running on your system, or quit being dumb.
This port is about what Doom could have looked like on my first computer, a 286. It didn't have a sound card, so pc speaker effects was the only option. Wolfenstein 3D has a hidden option to play digital sound effects through the pc speaker. I might try to add that to this port.

I still cant believe how efficient this engine is
This is really impessive. I would love to play it this way!
There's now a download link in the description.
@@DookNookim I will absolutely check this out soon!
The pc speaker sound effects lol.
It’s time to kick ass and chew bubblegum. Oh wait.

Absolutely beautiful!
This would look good for old Nokia color.
So crazy! And now I’m in the mood to play some Commander Keen 😂
Ooooh, clean.
Ugh, thanks for reminding me how borderline-brutalist EGA was lol
Cool! Is it in pure graphics mode or a combination of graphics and characters?
Just the regular EGA 320x200 16 color graphics mode.
@@DookNookimthanks
awesome!
holy fucking shit that's impressive stuff
My eyes!
impressive
What madness is this?!
Would that run that well on a proper 8088 machine?
I guess it needs more speed improvements.
wow, the graphics look decent now in EGA mode
is there gonna be one for wolfenstein 3d? or was it already done?
I would expect WolfensteinCGA to support EGA as it does support the Tandy 1000 160x200 16 color graphics mode. But apparently it doesn't.
What's stupid is my computer from 2019 can't run my OG copy of Doom that I have on a PC-CD
It can. Skill issues
@nneeerrrd you think it's possible without third party software? I highly doubt it.

@@Markworth how is your solution not third party software?

You should swap out the pc speaker effects
He doesn't have to

@@DookNookimif you are talking about the PWM via beeper, that will kill performance even on 286
@@nneeerrrd I have played Wolfenstein 3D that way, with a shrunken screen.
the problem is the enemies don't look like anything
How to tell your age without telling it😂
Use yo imagination of 16 yo. Oh wait...
Otherwise this video would be age restricted. 😆
ужасно.
