I was at the game he scored the own goal at in 94 at the Rose Bowl against the USA and the one against Romania. I was just a kid and it was crazy to me to hear that he was killed when he got home. So senseless.

Back in the late 80s, early 90s, AC Milan was the top club in the world. Andres was actually concerned that AC Milan had lost interest in him because of his own goal, but they were still keen on signing him. Maturana, Colombia's coach concerned about the death threats recommended Andres to stay in the U.S. and vacation with his family before heading out to Milan. Instead he chose to go to Colombia, and there he met his demise.

Colombia is a country I will always be very proud of.
