Best travel hacks I know are: 1. Never travel just before or just after a major holiday. 2. Try to travel only on Tuesdays or Thursday AM. 3. Drive as much as you can. 4. Create a Media pass if you're a freelancer to increase baggage allowance. 5. If driving, avoid major cities during peak AM and PM rush hours, especially on I-95.
Good video. Don't forget that annual credit card fee is tax deductible. And if you get airline status (Delta is the one I'm most familiar) you can check bags up to 70lbs. That extra weight has saved me many times over the years.
Definitely going to use it as a deduction! That overweight bag fee approach sounds great. I haven’t had the need for it yet. Anytime I’m over weight or size, I show my media badge and it’s airline agnostic.
Fun fact: channels with videos that talk about finance have remarkably high CPM rates. Have you tested titles with things like credit card review etc when you are talking about cards?
Yes I have one data point for that. I did a video about the Amex and called it the traveling filmmakers credit card. It did ok. I’m hesitant to put review since 60% of the video is still about video production.
I haven’t flown in a while, but they used to have a media waiver for the checked bag 50lb weight limit, maybe they still do. Back when I used it all I needed was my “Press Pass,” which was really just my company ID, which I made for myself.
It's interesting you decided to put up to 8 hours on your price sheet. I typically don't find productions accept anything less than a 10 hour day rate. I'm sure you flux, but that was one of the big takeaways I noticed from this one. Keep up the great work man. I'm sure I'm bound to run into you eventually within this Florida market.
One thing to mention: the Sennheiser G1/2/3/4 basic lapel is just basic, ordinary to be fair. This changes when you pair it with a better one like a mke2 or a sanken/dpa one.
That last little bit about missing a connecting flight because they overbooked the first flight is one of the reasons I try to avoid flying. 😄 Don't need that hassle.
Traveling for photo/video jobs was a wonderful experience when I was younger. I'm glad I got to have all of those wonderful memories of far off places. Enjoy the ride sir :)
So worth it!!! Also having tsa precheck/Global entry + Clear makes you breeze thru security. Clear is a cherry on top and is not every airport has it but tsa Precheck/global entry is accepted at most airports and only costs $100 for 5 years.
Great stuff, bro!!! So funny! I literally just did this same type of shoot. 3-day conference in Atlanta. I had to drive 7hrs though. Jealous of that airport lounge access😅
@@davidmorefield If I have to bring a ton of gear I prefer driving. If it's just me and minimal gear I would want to fly! I gotta look into that Amex card man! Those lounges look clutch.
@@JoelGabrielsen theres quite a few different cards that allow access to different types of lounges. I recommend getting one that aligns with your home airport.
Honestly it’s a super easy program. I did most of my vlog on this channel with iMovie on my phone then switched to CapCut for a little more control. A perfect edit would be me talking while I film the clips and have it make a chronological story. Then going into CapCut and putting them next to each other. Simple and fast.
@@davidmorefield just your opinion on it. Some people like it, some people don’t. And it’s kind of a tossup, depending on what content you like to shoot as a videographer. It’s basically saying that if I can get the client their goals, even faster, then I’m gonna charge based off ofthe value. Like if the videos I create for you on social media or on your website take you from $500,000-$1 million in a year, then I should charge a lot more for that I provided.
@@FishVisions yeah I can talk about that. It largely depends if you are a freelancer for a crew position (like is am) or the production company. I charge for my role whereas a production company charges for what problems they are solving.
A lot of cards allow lounge access. Look at what lounges are in your local airport and go with what makes sense. Tons of free research in all these cards on YT

Number 4,is it also applied abroad?
This channel is going to do super well people want to see this bts not over produced content where they can learn and relax haha
That’s how I feel too when I watch others content that is similar. Thanks.

I use my intern badge from when I was in college over 10 years ago. Still works perfectly good haha.

Most of my work is corporate. They usually don’t even run 8 hours.
I love the 200x and 60x combo. So lightweight.
I think I should get another 200x. They are so versatile

You’d rather drive for 2-3 days from TX to Fl than arrive 3 hours later on a plane? I’ll pass on that 😅
@@davidmorefield Luckily we don't have those types of distances here in Germany, at the most it's a full travel day of ten hours driving.

The Sennheisers are actually really good. Just have to change the lav.

Amazing! It sounds super easy and not draining. Normally, I'd put all the footage on the computer and edit on PP. But it's a hassle.
Can you add a section of you talking about how you feel about value based pricing
Sure but can you explain a bit more?

Whoa southwest made you check your carryon? That sucks
Yeah all the overhead room was taken
What percentage of RFP's want a second camera?
Maybe 5%
Hey man, love your vlogs! Are your accommodations covered? Or paid by yourself?
They should always be paid by the client. Flight, hotel and Uber. I wouldn’t accept a job that does not cover it. It’s industry standard.
