- Here is my complete guide to Firefly (and SAM !), the newest DPS in Honkai: Star Rail 2.3 and a top tier damage dealer at that! I do have one problem with her, but everything else about her is amazing! I fully explain her kit, and I also go through Firefly best build with her best relics, best light cones including her signature and main stats. I talk about how to maximize Firefly with her stat goals and eidolons, but also her best team, so you can get the most out of her!

GUOBAFLY AND G.U.O.B.A. (Guide to Understanding Overlooked Battle Attributes) want to know if you're pulling and how many copies / sig?!?!!
NOTES: - After the stream I realized I forgot to explain but E2 Firefly has a turn cooldown that means it goes FF kill/break -> FF extra turn -> FF turn -> FF can kill or break again for extra turn. So 2 turns per state (which I calculated for) but possibility to get more with advance buffers :) stupid mistake to not explain but yeah the CD is there in the e2 description to help my skill issue
- For sustainless (AND E1) FF, Sparkle came up higher DMG than gallagher in my calcs (E1S1 Bronya works likewise), but like run Sparkle on your first team, I just wanted to give other team comp ideas so it wouldn't be a one team comp vid lmao. In my opinion into more aoe Gallagher could end up winning again due to his toughness being so dang good.
i cope for e2s1 but i will probably only get e1/e1s1 firefly please come home..
e2s1 is the goal but I'll cope with e1s1 until her rerun. Still considering on getting Ruan mei's LC.

So FF is the best at proccing HMC's Superbreak, and HMC allows FF to achieve ungodly break damage potentials with their buffs. Someone at Mihoyo is a captain of this ship for sure

You can pull FF LC and achieve the same outcome in a different way in Break teams. Hook, Xueyi, Misha, even for Blade you can make builds like that xd
I run my Xueyi on "her sig", Under the Blue Sky, which I find works wonderfully. Jingliu has hers, but yeah Clara and FF will have to share Aeon for now most likely. Eidolons are looking too juicy to resist trying over the LC. If only they put Indellible Promise on the banner... At least there is MotP since her team now wants 2 S5 of that LC 😅 (I have S5+S2 already at least)

@@guobacertifiedAppreciate your videos. But the light cone section I always wish there were more average options shown. Everything always the S5 versions or 5* cones shown in the ranking. Can you put S1 versions in the list too?
I started playing when Sparkle came out. I don't have all these things yet! My Aeons LC can't even be S5 yet because I maxed the hunt one first for Ratio and got a preservation S1 for Aventurine.
Firefly's HP manipulation mechanic hopefully indicates that they'll add a characteror mechanic similar to Furina's fanfare sometime down the line. Please hoyo PLEASE indirectly buff Blade with this I'm begging you!

It is probably just for new sim uni and reworked destruction psth.
I think Jade will be a great DPS pair for Blade, given what we know so far. Jade drains HP for an ally, and she gets extra stacks for each enemy hit by this ally.
I mean if it's like Furina and it buffs dmg% then it won't do much for Firefly, but it would be huge for characters like Blade and Jade since it would turn Jade's HP drain into just another form of buffing

16:53 the reason why e2 ruan mei doesnt work is bc her e2 atk buff applies to the attack itself, rather than being a "buff" in the stat page, so ff wouldnt be able to convert it for more be
Yea, that's why I feel it's misleading as they didn't specifically mention that the attack % increase is for that damage instance only, and the wording stated seems to imply it would appear in stat page. I personally feel it's a bug, as a similar thing happened to Firefly's E1 during beta test where the 15% def ignore didn't apply to super break.
Question: I saw Brax mention that Asta’s attack buff would help FF, but if it’s like E2 Ruan Mei, then it wouldn’t right?

Asta’s atk buff increases the atk of the party, so it works. Ruan Mei E2 is unique because it boots atk of actions ONLY vs weakness broken.
@@Villain_of_Overhype nope asta att buff directly increase the att of the team thus FF can convert it while RM is buffing att of said character only on their actions which if u want simpler version
asta : increase att on ur stat pages for certain amount of turn
rm : increase att when u are in action or ur attacking turn which sadly cant be converted

@@caseydanchou nah it would be a bit worse cuz you should be rolling for ruan mei first then firefly since if you get firefly first you'll end up a pretty bad unit that you cant use until you get ruan mei. It would be best if it was ruan mei first then firefly later.

Other way to think about it is how strong she is right now with Super Break only now becoming a thing and her team being the only current good units for it. Once the supports that are even more break oriented than Ruan mei star coming out she's gonna be even better but anyways thank you so much for the guide we are ready for Firefly gaming now!

When it comes to support I'll pull for their meta value, but when it comes to dps I'll only pull for characters I like.
Which resulted in me not getting a single new dps since blade banner, and never have I felt regret.
Quick and informative as always! The light cone info is exactly what I was looking for. With Aeon being pretty good, I think I'll only try a few pulls for the signature so I can save. My pulls for Robin were abysmal, who I didn't even end up getting so I could save for Firefly. I'll make up the difference by spending months farming giga relics for her.

Manifesting my E2S1 best girl 🙏 Ideally with lots of Gallaghers showing up along the way
got myself a BUNCH of relic parts to use to get her set resinless, and 6 self modeling resins to try and sniper main stats, worth every time
same here, i might get to 10k before she drops. also saved up 500 tickets and a bunch of fuel, 2.3 is going to be so fun!
There's no point, 2 relics have set main stats and getting atk% is not that hard on body / orb. Speed boots are worth, and break effect rope is decent, but generally I would only spend resins on speed boots or energy regen ropes for supports since you have to farm for substats anyways.
@@Dragonboy55564 i would never use resins for boots. you have a 1/4 chance of getting the right mainstat. orbs have way lower chances of getting the right one, bodies are almost as hard to get. rope only has 5 main stats so its also not nearly as bad as orb/body. having lots of resins is great anyway since the set is new and most people have their supports built already while trying to get great relics on firefly, not just ones with the right mainstat.
@@Sparkofshurima It's not exactly 1/4 because the attributes have different drop chances. Speed boots only have a 10% drop chance while the other main stats have 30% each.

same i skiped her because i dont like her character and now ff is very meh without her. i am thorn between pull bot or skip both. i think I will skip since I have E6 acheron (from saving) so I dont really need to worry since my second weak side has 10 cycles to clear.
@@lucaskp16 You could also pull FF and wait for another break support, which will undoubtedly happen at some point, if only to allow for two break effect teams.

It's pretty obvious that she just doesn't. Like, straight up, do not bring her to bosses that lock their toughness bars.
I don't think it's necessary to explicitly state it when on several occasions he mentions that FF is a break DPS. He doesn't also need to say "if no break, no damage."

There’s been quite a few showcases of her completely decimating bosses like Sam and Yanqing. She kills things so fast when she can weakness break (these bosses usually have windows where you can) that generally it doesn’t matter too much.

@@imyournme6632 Himekos follow ups are triggered by fire weakness breaks, firefly implants fire weakness and shreds toughness bars fast so himeko can follow up lots.
The synergy is fun but fireflys 4 normal team mates are so necessary for her that it would probably feel bad to use in anything but pure fiction.

TY Gouba for the in-depth guide! I was planning to use Firefly as a flexible back up for whenever my team needs a fire dps. Yet again having to use specific supports/light cones with no real alternatives to have a character perform somewhat decent is for me the biggest problem of HSR. For example not having pella build or owning the pearls of sweat light cone and having some characters debuff count on Acheron’s stacks and some not made me already almost not pull for her. It was only by getting lucky on Gallagher that I did.
Guoba everytime I somehow find you in my recommends once in awhile your guoba models always baffle me 😂😅

I was going to pull for firefly, but she just looks so bad to play. I need to use her with both harmony trailblazer and ruan mei, and she does no damage at all when enemies arent weakness broken. I'm really thankful that this guide actually talks about firefly objectively with all these calculations and graphs. One of the things I really like in HSR is that I could mix and match characters for different situations, but firefly losing 40% of her dmg without ruan mei, and 68% without harmony trailblazer is ridiculous.
The e2 looked so cool because it was like seele's resurgence but with a cool mecha, but I'm now planning on skipping firefly. I never pulled for ruan mei and still dont want to simply because I dont like her kit or design. Thanks for the great guide!

From of all the leakers, theorycrafters, content creators, and even the livestream, they all concluded that Firefly still needs her racoon boyfriend/girlfriend (and Ruan Mei) to deal a lot of damage

With Gallagher on QPQ you can theoretically have a 1 turn Ult rotation, just have to play with rotation a bit and hold on support Ults for a bit for QPQ to go to Firefly.
I don't know how good this option is, considering that we want to use Gallagher as a battery for generating SP. And another LC is better suited for this purpose.

I don't see people talk much about this, but because FF realise so heavily in HMC, that when the MC gets a new path, it will render her useless and thus not be future proof.
I'm not a FF hater and for a fact I would love to pull FF (and hope for E2) but this looming idea is the only reason that's stopping me
Yes we could hope that new break supports come out maybe with higher heights than HMC. But it would be same case as Kafka.
If you can have 2 superbreaks support you will want use that instead, like how Kafka will excell with another DOT enabler

Ruan Mei is mandatory if you want to play Firefly
instead of asta, could you use hanya? as a f2p idk if im able to get ruin mei this patch so i need a sub till then. my thought prosess is that hanya is more skill point friendly, (then asta) have the speed buff that mei would normally give though less consistent. and boosts attack for that atk->break conversion. thoughts. - for your ask guoba vid ❤
Hanya could be worse because 1) Not being a fire unit means she can't contribute to breaking; 2) Hanya's ult buff will run out very quickly considering how fast complete combustion SAM is.
Asta's attack buff is based on her own turns, which means Firefly can use the buff throughout her 4 actions in complete combustion. SP will only be a problem if Gallagher isn't fast enough or you're using skill on Asta too frequently.

Asta is great because her atk buff works well with firefly and the speed boost + her break dmg being not negligeble is pretty great for firefly.
Hanya could be okay if you're really worried about sps, and asta is kinda too sp hungry without enough eidolons.
If you don't have asta eidolons you can use pela, since break and super break dmg scales of def shred

as someone who has never fully maxxed the Abyss in genshin, I'm glad that I don't have to pull for Ruan mei, she's like the most eh character design I've seen in a while so it just sucks that she's so broken in the game, same with bennet.

Can you pin a comment explaining why Ruan Mei is so strong with no alternatives? This would mostly be a very large break extension (bigger superbreak window) and a massive break efficiency boost to get the initial break much faster, especially on chunky enemies with lots of toughness. She also buffs damage thru res pen and etc, but that can be done with alternatives to some extent
Firefly got that Hoyo signature E2 bait, I surely haven't fallen for multiple times....
On the one hand, I want to play Sam so much, on the other hand, I absolutely hate little girls as playable characters, so I have to skip this with clenching teeth. Sigh, is it hard to just give us an independent robot for once?

Little? She is literally one of the tallest characters thst use the "maid" model, if you put her next to Jingliu and Bronya you would be shocked to find out Firefly is slightly taller than them

She's not really powercreeping anyone though. Firefly is a Break DPS, she has a condition and excels when you can build a team around that condition.
If you can't break an enemy or don't have Break-oriented supports, Acheron is still the top choice for dealing straightforward damage. And if you want to stomp bosses/single-target content, Boothill is still doing more damage than Firefly in that scenario.
Dude, stop. Break is an archetype, not a single team for your favourite Boothill. There should and will be variance

I know the FF stans are incredibly toxic, that doesn't mean I don't think it's absolute bullshit when a break DPS is followed by a break DPS which does more damage, is usable in more scenarios, gets its own relic and planar set. She gets two(!) Fire 5* debuffer and healers in the upcoming two patches to boost her further. You can get f***ed if you think licking up to your Chinese corpo overlords is good just because they gave you a loli mech.
This release schedule sucks, plain and simple. And a lot of people see it this way, which is an issue for the game and should be listened to. If they repeated this cycle every patch everyone would think it sucks. That alone is testament to how bad this release is.

To be more constructive, you can't assume JQ will be "Firefly's support" just because of him being fire. You can also say the same about the second one. I don't wanna talk leaks here, but if there is a debuffer, they benefit EVERYONE in the archetype. Same goes for buffers. If Jiaoqiu benefits Firefly, he will benefit Boothill too. As he will benefit Xueyi. And the others. The element doesn't mean anything by itself, only which enemies' toughness will be depleted when they attack, and the type of damage they deal. Most enemies have three weaknesses anyway, there are plenty of enemies with fire+phys combo.
Don't be so pessimistic. They are not making supports with one specific unit in mind. Not yet, at least.

Wouldn't putting ruan mei's signature light cone on hmc be better ?
the insane 60% break effect it gives would increases hmc's E4 teamwide buff, thus giving more break effect to firefly while also still helping ruan mei hit 180% break effect.
hmc also having higher ult frequency would help keeping the damage buff at 100% uptime (although it doesnt really matter in that case), while also recovering more skill points, helping with E0 firefly sp consumption. (the extra sp from this could also make you able to run "What Is Real" on gallagher (his signature) instead of multiplication, giving him some personal damage while helping with his A2 healing buff, though I'm not sure if you'd be sp neutral or not.)
It would also allow you to run "Memories of The past" on ruan mei, helping with her ult uptime and hitting 180% break effect, while also gaining some more energy from her signature on hmc, which gives 10 energy to the team per wave.
As a Boothill and future Firefly Main, I will LIVE in that new relic domain
