I guess better is subjective, but which team do you think performs better overall?
i'm def pulling robin, but i'm also gonna try pulling topaz too after guaranteeing robin since i wasn't playing when she released. i'm not pulling on 2nd half though since i have enough main dps units for now (acheron and ratio)

I am not taking away from other CCs at all, respect to all of them and their effort, but this is the importance of having a proper theorycrafter in early access or even betas. You get a really detailed video that explains all the intricacies of the character and answers all your possible questions rather than just have a general impressions video based on a CC's eyeballing. As a certified Ruan Mei user(most used unit since her release according to anniversary web event), I'm gonna go for Robin anyway lmao. People should just stop being salty about powercreep. Plus, RM is not even the *main* victim here, it's Tingyun. Double the buffs that too teamwide with more uptime, "Nah, I'm broken" moment indeed. Cannot wait for the day some character to be able to just fill a full energy bar. It's almost the same and situation like Bronya and Sparkle : Doesn't matter is one is better than the other, most endgame content has two teams. PS : Pull if you like the characters people. Don't just throw your jades away for meta. It's a PvE game.

I didn't really want her at first, but I find myself in need of a 2nd team wide buffer, and with no Sunday in sight so far I decided to go for Robin. Especially in Teams with Aventurine I will probably prefer being able to be hit for his follow up instead of having to wait when everyone is broken so long with Ruan Mei
this main reason I'm going for Robin, i rather get full team buff why i love Ruan Mei, Mei's still better set up is duo DPs and break, Robin i can go hyper carry with sparkle, but my sustain can do extra damage being Loucha or Aventurine
I managed to get Topaz and Robin on my alt account. Considering I have them on a team with Ratio and Aven, I'm basically going to be living in the Grand Duke cavern for the foreseeable future. Give me strength.

In fact even with me not going for speed on a prefarm set I have too much speed to make a difference. I'm going to have to rethink what I'm going to do there. I also thought that her SP generation might be a problem so I'm glad you mentioned it.
omg i knew it. Robin is gonna be as universal as RM and Sparkle who excel in a niche but not restricted to those to be good. she's technically 5 star tingyun for your entire party 😩 and her FUA trace is like Sparkle's quantum dmg bonus, just bonuses and not necessities. the devs really just said "f*ck balancing" when they designed the trio of limited 5 star harmony.. the teams that work with ruan mei which is many teams also works with robin. advance forwarding plus party buff is just that bonkers 🙀 the dps gain is almost similar. thanks Guoba for the super informative vid!!!
Super informative video. As someone who is not a Ruan Mei haver, I’ve been struggling with whether or not to get Robin. This showcase really breaks her down perfectly clearly without the “SHE NEEDS TO BE ON FUA TO BE GOOD” narrative people kept pushing. Hey Guoba great video! If you do decide to do another video for her release I think her synergy with different carries would be nice. While the RRAT team is very obviously good, many people only have dr ratio or clara like me would like to know what other good team choices are. Keep up the good work!

I have e1 ruan mei, and love my fua team, but if I get robin I lose a debuff for ratio, and then his follow ups become super inconsistent should I pull for topaz s1 or robin? I think topaz will be pretty timeless for fua but robin is the obvius power choice, it's just that I can't see e0 robin being that much better than e1 rm even in her niche.

Congrats on getting in the testing server!! As someone who couldn't pull for Ruan Mei during her banner (I was saving for Kafka at the time), finding out that Robin can be a good alternative to Ruan Mei in DoT teams has made me so excited to pull for her now!
ayy congrats, awesome to see that you got into the creator experience server! i always appreciate how thorough your guides are, for example thank you for going so in-depth about what robin's speed needs are and *why*. something i'd love to see you talk about, both for robin and just in general, is trace level goals and priorities. what i mean by that is, what traces are the most worth to max out and which ones dont need to be absolutely maxed to be effective. obviously i know that higher traces = better, but in a game with limited resources, i'd love to know how to prioritize and know when the gains are or aren't worth the amount of trailblaze power they take. just like how you do your stat goals on your infographics, i'd love to see trace level goals too! i've heard people say that, for example, leveling kafka's skill and burst to 10 is really important because of how it scales her damage since dots can't crit and all (and i suspect that maxing traces on most dps units is worth it?) is this accurate? and i'd especially love to know for support characters like robin what a good level of trace investment is, like for instance should i be maxing my pela ult for the def down or is it too expensive resource-wise for relatively little gain, and thus can be lower on the priority list? haha sorry for the long winded comment and i hope i was able to explain that in a way that made sense! love your videos!
Ruan Mei vs Robin discourse is silly to me bc like, yea. Robin has better *numbers*, but Ruan Mei is the only source of Break Efficiency, which is a completely different niche! They do different things!
Yeah they both excel everywhere, and excel even further in other places! :) Ya dont need Robin if you dont want her, but shes still very strong just like Ruan Mei is :D
I wasn't planning on pulling for Robin but this video might just have convinced me. The multiple AV forwards from Robin + Bronya sounds really fun. Jingliu, Bronya, Robin, Luocha seems like it would be such a fun team.
Robin is the superior support than RM, plain and simple. Numbers and simulations show this. Even in break teams with Boothill, you can find private server leaks that Robin is superior to RM. Can still change but I highly doubt it. 100% action advance for the whole team is just way too OP of a mechanic. I don't believe in mains as I see these characters as tools in your toolkit for team building and Robin is just the superior harmony unit. That said, I already have RM and will be skipping Robin since I can clear everything easily anyway. But if I have to pick only one of the 2, it'll be Robin all the way.
I've been saying this for a while, but Robin is replacing RM as the overall best unit in the game. She powercreeps supports more than Acheron powercrept DPS. This is coming from a RM simp btw.
I personally think RM is still more versatile.. Ruan Mei's buffs can be used by any team comp, crit DPS, FUA, Break Effect and even DoT Robin can be used all of them as well ofc.. however DoT isn't as good cuz her crit dmg buff is wasted.
Her Powercreeping Ruan Mei more then Acheron Powercreeping DHIL/Jingliu sounds like a Exaggeration. Acheron just Straight out Powercreeped DHIL/Jingliu with numbers that Compare to a E2 DHIL, While Robin vs Ruan Mei is complicated to Say the least. At a High Maintenance Level Robin does Peform better then Ruan Mei in Many teams, Though in Some teams you either Prefer Ruan Mei, or Robin doesn't work as well in these Specific teams (Ie: Blade teams) Though Unlimited Bladeworks would be an Interesting thing to Watch with Specifically a E2 Robin at the Mr Pokke level of "Relatablity" or at a more Cost efficient (Can be done at E0) then Pokke's Unlimited Bladeworks with 174 SPD Bronya and Sparkle instead opting for Enough SPD to go 2 times a cycle. (So Robin can Add a another turn in that Cycle on top of that with her 100% Teamwide AV. Ruan Mei doesn't need any Maintenance other then to get the Most out of her Break efficiency, Match the weakness of the Enemy. Robin needs way more Maintenance to get her to her most Optimal peaks. Robin vs Ruan Mei is team to team, it's no where near Acheron vs DPS (Where it is just a Night and Day difference in Every team), In FUA Robin is a lot better then Ruan Mei as Robin is Perfect for FUA teams. Robin Sidesteps Ruan Mei in DOT, Second Harmony, Dual DPS, & Break Teams (While I would Prefer Ruan Mei in Break teams). DHIL and QQ teams are gonna need the other Teammates to regen SP or be Loucha/Pela/Aventurine E1 levels of SP positivity to make them work with Robin, and Blade can't Take advantage of Robin's ATK% Ultimate buff, while Jingliu is utterly Saturated in ATK%. At High Investment, High Maintenance Robin is better then Ruan Mei in a lot of Teams but can your Average player reach not exactly High investment but High Maintenance on Robin without some work. I doubt it. So I either Place Robin in either a Sidestep to Ruan Mei or Trading blows with Ruan Mei back and fourth in every aspect of the Game.
With all the testing and calcs I did, I dont think this is true. I tried to explain it in the ruan section, but Ruan Mei is still very valuable and strong, Robin powercreeps her only specifically in FUA teams, especially RAT. Otherwise they're similar / Ruan Mei is better in her niches. It seems theres a limited harmony for each niche kind of :)

I pulled for her mainly because I was gonna do a bronya varient team with her, ruin mei, Dan hung, and coffin boy. I didn't realize that stacking her with mei is basically overkill, and switched her over to my acheron, pela, huoheouo set up. Also your 4x atk turn with bronya was exactly what I was thinking of trying with blade, now I have to try that. He hasn't been getting as much love as I'd like lately, and that's a perfect excuse for me to bring him back into rotation.
Before her banner is up, it would be great to have a Robin/Ruan Mei analysis for Boothill team comps! Action advance v break build for our new dueling breaking space cowboy 😄

Super video thank you ! For suggestion about the next video, what I would like to see would be : Robin with Asta. Asta giving speed on whole team allow all of them to do 3 actions per Concerto. Also, her atk buff amplify Robin's atk buff. And Asta can even give some fire damage for Topaz or Himeko that are both good Robin's teammate. Thank you again, that's super quality content here !
Great video as always. My plan had been to finally go for Topaz this patch so I can finally round of the FUA team,after watching this, now questioning whether Robin is actually the better option.

If I win her LC, I'll get her since I do have guarantee on character banner. Funny enough since I didn't plan for her, I've never bothered look at her relics option, even so, I have all the piece she need (yea I never throw away any good looking piece regardless of their set), she'll be sitting at 4k3 ATK, 123 SPD and ofc, 119.4% ERR

Ofc nothing beat her sig LC, but then may I ask in your opinion, beside that sig LC give more buff and personal dmg overall, how much comfort is the sig LC compare to f2p one? 15% ERR seems quite huge to me esp she basically want to ult all the time

On the topic of energy, how about Gallagher with QPQ? I plan to run ratio-robin-pela-gallagher, and after robin's ult, he can immediately proc QPQ twice with his own ult (as long as he's faster than ratio), which gives robin massive energy
good point, survivability might be a problem. still, since I'm getting e1s1 robin, I guess the enemy will have to die before she does :) worst case scenario, I can switch to luocha for better survivability, but I like gallagher's debuffs (for ratio) and double QPQ better
13:53 I really agree with this, especially since my Acheron hits harder when I increase her attack +200 with 30% less CD. She hits even harder during her second ultimate because of a 90% self-buff

If you do a follow up i would suggest doing a team comparison of Topaz and Robin (ideally both e0s0) with Ratio and Aventurine as i've lately been seeing a lot of people say that they can only get one of them and are wondering which of the two should they pull for their follow up team, so that would prob be a nice topic to cover 🤔
I currently have a Sparkle/Dan team, and Ruan Mei is on my follow up team (Ratio Topaz Aventurine). To me Ruan Mei is essential, you are able to get off so many follow up attacks with res pen, extra break, extra round CC... it's hard to see Robin being better but sometimes raw damage can outclass everything else. Tough decision
very proud of you, amazing growth. also i am happy with robin, i always wanted a unit that could do something similar like this, for those of us who just hate or dont want to speedtune everything and everyone. Like.....the only speedtuning i have done is bronya speed less than dps. and even then, its painful. so i hope she is helpful to all those lost souls like me there. One day, we will have an energy focused unit too, which will be really cool. However sad that since robin is harmony, and sparkle is too....the chances of sunday being harmony is like almost zero. It would have been really nice, but alas.....rip my dreams. I will pull and see, I would love to bring home sundays sister, but first gotta get sunday, and a kafka rerun for my black swan, andddd the pink foxian boy.
She seems really strong! Although I feel like her being skill point negative is going to balance that out a lot. If I do end up pulling her, I'm going to have to pull the trigger and buy a second Bronya light cone from the shop
I just started an alt account (it helps with saving for characters on my main) and Robin is a must pull for newer players who don’t have a support yet in my opinion. Since Ratio was given out for free, it kind of sets up a really top tier team. Beyond that tho… who is gonna miss out on our idol queen?
Looks like I’m missing out on Fu Xuan again. As a low spender, my pull philosophy is Personal appreciation > gameplay. Diviner Fu might be a cute girl with pink hair who can act as a solo-sustain (my weakness), but her “opponents” are “psychic angel girl singer who buffs the whole team” and “best girl in a mech suit.” Fu Xuan is *good,* but she’s bracketed by Robin and Firefly. That just ain’t fair. I swear, if 5-star March 7th comes out immediately after firefly I’m gonna cry *so* hard, you don’t even know.

There is one thing i'd like to point out, sure Blade doesnt scale as hard on atk but he still could use Robin to buff his followup, have multiple turns to proc his followup w/ bronya and the dmg% on her skill.
Grats on the beta server access. I'll pull for Robin (and then maybe Topaz if they come early). Will try to hodl enough to pull Sam once she arrives. One kind of meaningful advantage for RM for me personally is that 10 speed. DoT set just does not drop speed for me to almost any pieces, and I want to run my Glamoth planars so having that 135 is a bit pain. I'm sure I can shuffle relics to keep the bonus, but there will be some losses on some stats, and it's a bit annoying to swap relics around.

Thank you for going into the speed break points. I had a feeling low speed was the way to go but I wasn't sure. In fact even with me not going for speed on a prefarm set I have too much speed to make a difference. I'm going to have to rethink what I'm going to do there.

omg i knew it. Robin is gonna be as universal as RM and Sparkle who excel in a niche but not restricted to those to be good. she's technically 5 star tingyun for your entire party 😩 and her FUA trace is like Sparkle's quantum dmg bonus, just bonuses and not necessities. the devs really just said "f*ck balancing" when they designed the trio of limited 5 star harmony.. the teams that work with ruan mei which is many teams also works with robin. advance forwarding plus party buff is just that bonkers 🙀 the dps gain is almost similar. thanks Guoba for the super informative vid!!!

Super informative video. As someone who is not a Ruan Mei haver, I’ve been struggling with whether or not to get Robin. This showcase really breaks her down perfectly clearly without the “SHE NEEDS TO BE ON FUA TO BE GOOD” narrative people kept pushing. It was so bad that I was under the impression that she only boosted FUA on her Ult, not everyone. Thanks for a super informative video. Really helped with my decision making.

Hey Guoba great video! If you do decide to do another video for her release I think her synergy with different carries would be nice. While the RRAT team is very obviously good, many people only have dr ratio or clara like me would like to know what other good team choices are. Keep up the good work!

I have e1 ruan mei, and love my fua team, but if I get robin I lose a debuff for ratio, and then his follow ups become super inconsistent should I pull for topaz s1 or robin? I think topaz will be pretty timeless for fua but robin is the obvius power choice, it's just that I can't see e0 robin being that much better than e1 rm even in her niche.

As someone who couldn't pull for Ruan Mei during her banner (I was saving for Kafka at the time), finding out that Robin can be a good alternative to Ruan Mei in DoT teams has made me so excited to pull for her now!
ayy congrats, awesome to see that you got into the creator experience server! i always appreciate how thorough your guides are, for example thank you for going so in-depth about what robin's speed needs are and *why*.
something i'd love to see you talk about, both for robin and just in general, is trace level goals and priorities. what i mean by that is, what traces are the most worth to max out and which ones dont need to be absolutely maxed to be effective. obviously i know that higher traces = better, but in a game with limited resources, i'd love to know how to prioritize and know when the gains are or aren't worth the amount of trailblaze power they take.
just like how you do your stat goals on your infographics, i'd love to see trace level goals too! i've heard people say that, for example, leveling kafka's skill and burst to 10 is really important because of how it scales her damage since dots can't crit and all (and i suspect that maxing traces on most dps units is worth it?) is this accurate? and i'd especially love to know for support characters like robin what a good level of trace investment is, like for instance should i be maxing my pela ult for the def down or is it too expensive resource-wise for relatively little gain, and thus can be lower on the priority list?

Ruan Mei vs Robin discourse is silly to me bc like, yea. Robin has better *numbers*, but Ruan Mei is the only source of Break Efficiency, which is a completely different niche! They do different things!
Yeah they both excel everywhere, and excel even further in other places! :) Ya dont need Robin if you dont want her, but shes still very strong just like Ruan Mei is :D
I wasn't planning on pulling for Robin but this video might just have convinced me. The multiple AV forwards from Robin + Bronya sounds really fun. Jingliu, Bronya, Robin, Luocha seems like it would be such a fun team.
Robin is the superior support than RM, plain and simple. Numbers and simulations show this. Even in break teams with Boothill, you can find private server leaks that Robin is superior to RM. Can still change but I highly doubt it. 100% action advance for the whole team is just way too OP of a mechanic. I don't believe in mains as I see these characters as tools in your toolkit for team building and Robin is just the superior harmony unit. That said, I already have RM and will be skipping Robin since I can clear everything easily anyway. But if I have to pick only one of the 2, it'll be Robin all the way.
I have e1s1 ruan mei and will get e1s1 robin. I'd love to see you show the power of e1 robin in a team you like playing. Great video!!!
I've been saying this for a while, but Robin is replacing RM as the overall best unit in the game. She powercreeps supports more than Acheron powercrept DPS. This is coming from a RM simp btw.

Ruan Mei's buffs can be used by any team comp, crit DPS, FUA, Break Effect and even DoT
Robin can be used all of them as well ofc.. however DoT isn't as good cuz her crit dmg buff is wasted.
Her Powercreeping Ruan Mei more then Acheron Powercreeping DHIL/Jingliu sounds like a Exaggeration. Acheron just Straight out Powercreeped DHIL/Jingliu with numbers that Compare to a E2 DHIL,
While Robin vs Ruan Mei is complicated to Say the least. At a High Maintenance Level Robin does Peform better then Ruan Mei in Many teams, Though in Some teams you either Prefer Ruan Mei, or Robin doesn't work as well in these Specific teams (Ie: Blade teams) Though Unlimited Bladeworks would be an Interesting thing to Watch with Specifically a E2 Robin at the Mr Pokke level of "Relatablity" or at a more Cost efficient (Can be done at E0) then Pokke's Unlimited Bladeworks with 174 SPD Bronya and Sparkle instead opting for Enough SPD to go 2 times a cycle. (So Robin can Add a another turn in that Cycle on top of that with her 100% Teamwide AV.
Ruan Mei doesn't need any Maintenance other then to get the Most out of her Break efficiency, Match the weakness of the Enemy. Robin needs way more Maintenance to get her to her most Optimal peaks.
Robin vs Ruan Mei is team to team, it's no where near Acheron vs DPS (Where it is just a Night and Day difference in Every team), In FUA Robin is a lot better then Ruan Mei as Robin is Perfect for FUA teams. Robin Sidesteps Ruan Mei in DOT, Second Harmony, Dual DPS, & Break Teams (While I would Prefer Ruan Mei in Break teams). DHIL and QQ teams are gonna need the other Teammates to regen SP or be Loucha/Pela/Aventurine E1 levels of SP positivity to make them work with Robin, and Blade can't Take advantage of Robin's ATK% Ultimate buff, while Jingliu is utterly Saturated in ATK%.
At High Investment, High Maintenance Robin is better then Ruan Mei in a lot of Teams but can your Average player reach not exactly High investment but High Maintenance on Robin without some work. I doubt it.
So I either Place Robin in either a Sidestep to Ruan Mei or Trading blows with Ruan Mei back and fourth in every aspect of the Game.

With all the testing and calcs I did, I dont think this is true. I tried to explain it in the ruan section, but Ruan Mei is still very valuable and strong, Robin powercreeps her only specifically in FUA teams, especially RAT. Otherwise they're similar / Ruan Mei is better in her niches. It seems theres a limited harmony for each niche kind of :)

I can maaaaybe try to sneak in pulling for robin if my boothill funds look good at the end of her banner, but cyborg bebop has my heart and wallet in a chokehold.

I pulled for her mainly because I was gonna do a bronya varient team with her, ruin mei, Dan hung, and coffin boy. I didn't realize that stacking her with mei is basically overkill, and switched her over to my acheron, pela, huoheouo set up.
Also your 4x atk turn with bronya was exactly what I was thinking of trying with blade, now I have to try that. He hasn't been getting as much love as I'd like lately, and that's a perfect excuse for me to bring him back into rotation.

Asta giving speed on whole team allow all of them to do 3 actions per Concerto. Also, her atk buff amplify Robin's atk buff. And Asta can even give some fire damage for Topaz or Himeko that are both good Robin's teammate.

Funny enough since I didn't plan for her, I've never bothered look at her relics option, even so, I have all the piece she need (yea I never throw away any good looking piece regardless of their set), she'll be sitting at 4k3 ATK, 123 SPD and ofc, 119.4% ERR
nice build but you could just pick her up and save the lc pulls for firefly IMO, but up to you ofc, good luck!

On the topic of energy, how about Gallagher with QPQ? I plan to run ratio-robin-pela-gallagher, and after robin's ult, he can immediately proc QPQ twice with his own ult (as long as he's faster than ratio), which gives robin massive energy
Gallagher needs to skill or use his aoe heal to heal Robin, her additional hits are not attacks
good point, survivability might be a problem. still, since I'm getting e1s1 robin, I guess the enemy will have to die before she does :)
worst case scenario, I can switch to luocha for better survivability, but I like gallagher's debuffs (for ratio) and double QPQ better
13:53 I really agree with this, especially since my Acheron hits harder when I increase her attack +200 with 30% less CD. She hits even harder during her second ultimate because of a 90% self-buff

If you do a follow up i would suggest doing a team comparison of Topaz and Robin (ideally both e0s0) with Ratio and Aventurine as i've lately been seeing a lot of people say that they can only get one of them and are wondering which of the two should they pull for their follow up team, so that would prob be a nice topic to cover 🤔
I currently have a Sparkle/Dan team, and Ruan Mei is on my follow up team (Ratio Topaz Aventurine). To me Ruan Mei is essential, you are able to get off so many follow up attacks with res pen, extra break, extra round CC... it's hard to see Robin being better but sometimes raw damage can outclass everything else. Tough decision

also i am happy with robin, i always wanted a unit that could do something similar like this, for those of us who just hate or dont want to speedtune everything and everyone. Like.....the only speedtuning i have done is bronya speed less than dps. and even then, its painful. so i hope she is helpful to all those lost souls like me there. One day, we will have an energy focused unit too, which will be really cool.
However sad that since robin is harmony, and sparkle is too....the chances of sunday being harmony is like almost zero. It would have been really nice, but alas.....rip my dreams. I will pull and see, I would love to bring home sundays sister, but first gotta get sunday, and a kafka rerun for my black swan, andddd the pink foxian boy.

I just started an alt account (it helps with saving for characters on my main) and Robin is a must pull for newer players who don’t have a support yet in my opinion. Since Ratio was given out for free, it kind of sets up a really top tier team. Beyond that tho… who is gonna miss out on our idol queen?

Looks like I’m missing out on Fu Xuan again. As a low spender, my pull philosophy is Personal appreciation > gameplay. Diviner Fu might be a cute girl with pink hair who can act as a solo-sustain (my weakness), but her “opponents” are “psychic angel girl singer who buffs the whole team” and “best girl in a mech suit.” Fu Xuan is *good,* but she’s bracketed by Robin and Firefly. That just ain’t fair.
I swear, if 5-star March 7th comes out immediately after firefly I’m gonna cry *so* hard, you don’t even know.

Nice to get a support that doesn't need ridiculous speed tuning to be optimal.
There is one thing i'd like to point out, sure Blade doesnt scale as hard on atk but he still could use Robin to buff his followup, have multiple turns to proc his followup w/ bronya and the dmg% on her skill.
Its a small buff in the grand scheme of things, but yeah that does work nicely

One kind of meaningful advantage for RM for me personally is that 10 speed.
DoT set just does not drop speed for me to almost any pieces, and I want to run my Glamoth planars so having that 135 is a bit pain.
I'm sure I can shuffle relics to keep the bonus, but there will be some losses on some stats, and it's a bit annoying to swap relics around.
