If you would have taken the train ride they talk about the history of locals working the plantations, it isn’t just a touristy ride through the plantation. It was very educational!
Nice Orlando City shirt...I'm from Orlando now living here on Pearl Harbor. You guys give some really great information on your trips. Thank You so much...it has been very helpful. Wish you blessings and success on your channel and new life in Hawaii.
I agree 👍 I am a vegetarian for 13 years ,I was a vegan for 17 years !! I am planning to visit Oahu next January for my mom's birthday celebration as she used to live there ( briefly in her 20's ! )& we both love Hawaii ! We'd love to know affordable vegan restaurants that are good in Oahu ,especially Wikiki area ! 😋 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏝✈️💞
If you want to see touristy go to Polynesian cultural center. I think the Mormon church or missionaries founded it. There's a cool botanical garden in wahiawa, too. I went to the Catholic elementary school up the road from it way back in the late 1970s.
9:51 sorry that is not correct. I worked for Maui Pine in the 90's supervising pickers. Color 1000% matters. Green = not ripe Yellow = ripe. Think of an old fashion thermometer as the pine ripens it turns from green to yellow starting at the bottom. A ripe pine will be yellow at least half the way up. Color should be uniform. - Yellow patch on top portion is usually from sun bleaching. Even in Hawaii finding a truly ripe pineapple can take a bit of work - most of the fruit sold in stores (even in Hawaii) is picked 2-4 weeks before it is fully ripe.
Oh! I read that on an informational sign at the dole plantation. It’s also on their website. But it could be wrong of course, so thanks for giving us this update :) Mahalo!
I know the Dole plantation is a tourist spot, but I like it! I LOVE pineapples and this place celebrates them! I also have tried Dole whip in a few places, and nothing has the pineapple flavour that you get at the Dole plantation. Next time get the sundae with the pineapple fruit topping- SO good!! Again, I love pineapples, and I could shop in that store all day. I haven't done the maze or the train either, but I think they would be a fun thing for a family to do.
Nice video seem like Nikki more comfortable am been in the camera an talking more , I sometimes when I get recorded I freeze up lol , am going in September 1,2022 with my girlfriend she never been to Honolulu , so it going to be fun . I kinda know my way around been there many times I lost Count🤔
I have to agree with you on that Dole plantation !! I have visited there twice as people I traveled with wanted to both times besides I loved the pineapple 🍍 ice cream .But,I felt bitter about the facts behind Dole's success ...not a right thing to do !! I liked both of you clearly stated that ,it would had been more authentic to include the truth ,not just his success & all about him !!! 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💕💞
Love your videos! Me and my wife have been planning on our Hawaii move for a long time! I was wondering if you could help us with a few worries! Do locals not care for you guys there? I know the history but I’m scared they will be rude to us in person. How bad is the job market we have a supply chain degree and a psychology degree. Also do you like Florida more? We were also thinking about Naples FL
Thanks! We have not had any bad or rude encounters in person, we actually have very good experiences. Overall, you might feel the hurt of people on the island, regarding the history of what happened. I’m not too sure about the job market. I also have my degree in psychology and it was pretty easy for me. Florida and Hawaii are pretty different, so it depends what you like. If you want to chat more, don’t hesitate to shoot us a DM or email!
@@DennyandNikki thank you so much for your reply! I think this is what we needed to hear. When we took our honeymoon trip the main thing that made us want to move was the people. We were just scared because some comments that people post on RUclips. I’m glad you guys are enjoying it and we look forward moving one day!
Yeah, I think most people have good experiences on the island. And in our experience, the people have been really generous! :) and how exciting, that you guys might move here one day!
@@marcelosimon4972 Hello Marcelo, Denny and Nikki! I hope you don't mind me squeezing myself into your conversation. As a local, I wanted to share with you my insight regarding the impression I get and give to "newcomers". I have a special appreciation for people who want to move here and experience the culture. It actually makes me really sad to read and hear that people are worried or scared how they will be treated. The reputation of locals "not liking" visitors can feel unsettling. Of course there will be rude people here and there but that goes for anywhere you go. What I can tell you is, Hawaii probably has the least amount of rude people. I've worked for the tourist industry for 10+ years and I absolutely love meeting and talking to visitors. 99.999% of them highlight the fact that everyone is so nice here. It's a beautiful place with soo much diversity. I hope this puts your mind at ease :)
Yes and no!!! There is dislike of new people here. I have even been bullied by 13 year old girls! You just have to ignore it and keep living, but it is a hurdle here. Before we moved here I had no idea the dislike the locals have for new people. I think most people would choose to not visit here if they knew how the locals talked about them!!!
Ugh so glad I didn’t waste my time there 😂 I prioritized being in nature over touristy things. Plus I have Dole whip at home, there are two restaurants here in Austin owned by Hawaiians (born and raised there but not ethnically Hawaiian as far as I know) and they sell dole whip. (One is Pokeatery in case anyone wants to know, can’t remember the other place.)
@@DennyandNikki nope, you’re not critical of everything, or even most things, this person is exaggerating lol plus my friends who are born and raised in Oahu hate the Dole plantation and it’s history. The Dole family were not good people, it’s ok to criticize them and y’all weren’t even doing that 😂
Yeah their genuine is trying to be different try hard style, they recommend more boring places just to be different and ends up making them sound elitist. There are obviously tourist traps and first time must go places and you guys always bash on the first time places. How many locals on SF actually care about going to the Golden Gate Bridge but no local is gonna say no need to go there. This isn’t keeping it real, this is just being a big party pooper
as a tourist, I like doing "tourist traps" its like a one time experience for me. I can always revisit and do "non tourist things"

Aloha!!! Interesting video in Oahu!!💚💥Thanks!☺️
Interesting review on Dole Plantation. Never been there, ‘guess I didn’t really miss much. Thank you and Aloha!
Yeah, we try to keep it real! We don't think you missed that much. Aloha!
That place is just good fun to go to and hang out.
Was over there and toured Dole in 2008. What a treat to see it again!
Sounds like it might be time for another Oahu visit! Glad you liked the plantation :)

Another fellow Floridian 🤙 thanks for your nice comment! Aloha to you and much love and happiness sent back to you!
I love the Dole Plantation. We go there at least once every time we go to Oahu. The Dole Whips are so much better out there.
The Dole Whip is tasty!
love this!
Would love to see more vegan food in Hawaii reviews! Love your in detail video about cost of living breakdown too 🤗
Thanks for watching! There is a large vegan community in Hawaii, so plenty of food to review.

It has been a while since we went up there and enjoyed the good ol' Dole Whip.
It’s also a matter of time before we get our second Dole Whip
Why don't you do own version cooking with leftover..I'm going look forward see both you cooking.
That could definitely be one of our next videos! Great meeting you :)
10:43 visited the Dole Plantation last month and thought the same thing - wish it was a little more transparent with the history
Definitely!
Is it worth the visit ?

Why is touristy a negative thing?
MAYBE THE TOUR THAT YOU DIDNT TAKE TALKS ABOUT THAT
🤦♂️
You definitely didn’t get the whole experience. If you actually decided to partake in more activities you probably would have felt different.
Wanna go to a random farm and see a pineapple instead ? Maybe that’s less touristy for you
