  • Western Action Shooting in Australia,Pat Garret Competition. This involves the use of a rifle calibre rifle as well as the pistol calibre rifle and revolvers, and 12 G shotgun.A small hiccup with the '94 Winchester when I didn't rack the rifle correctly, and an extra round loaded to complete the set of 7 shots,as the gun only holds 6.Match rifle, shotgun and revolvers worked well and a clean stage,no misses or penalties.I'm not the fastest, but still very passionate about this game after starting pistol shooting and Western Action 5 years ago at 53 years old.Giddyup!

Very cool stuff mate. Is your recoil control top notch or are you downloading the 30-30? Seemed to barely move
You running your 1873 in 357 mag?

30-30 is loaded with about 6.3 gr of trail boss to comply with minimum power factors for competition. The Uberti .357 mag '73 is running 38 special with 3 gr trail boss.Recoil control is a big thing for this shooting with single action firearms, the gun is locked into the shoulder and the levering/trigger pull hand is kinda floating, not actually gripping the stock at all.Cheers mate

@@MrMacca6969 Very nice setup you have going there. The 1873 actions are by far the smoothest I've ever handled, but they seem to cost a fortune. I'd love one in. 357 to run 38 specials as you do. Do you fit more in the tube since the 38's are a bit shorter?
Do they run these single action shoots with just rifles and shotguns? Us cat A/B guys would love to join the fun, but all the comps I've seen include wheelguns as a part of the stage

@@mattholley3642 wheel guns are a big part of it,but you can always track down your local group and they will always let you have a try with their guns, cowboys are generous people, you can also get into a pistol club as a non-member with your ID and A/B licence. My Uberti rifle is short stroked and modified for faster operation,we basically take a new gun and 'wear it out' lol to make it work.Maybe put one or more extra rounds in,but it's rarely required in comp anyway.Have a look at my other videos, there are some more good ones.cheers mate
