I love my X3…so much I bought the X4 on launch day. The extra resolution is fantastic. ❤️ #insta360 makes the best 360 cameras on the market and their software makes editing easy and straightforward.
Would you recommend using it as a travel camera? I'm thinking about mounting it on a peakdesign capture clip on a camera backpack shoulder strap. Something like a road cam but when walking.
What about Virtual Tours? The 1 inch is still the king right? Any new 1-inch coming out soon?

How does the picture quality compare at the stitch region?
Make sure to get the lens guard and use it all the time. They cover the water damaged unit, but if they find a very small, telescopic scratch from lens they will void warranty and charge 4/5 of the unit cost. After 3 months holding unit and numerous follow up calls they declined the warranty repair - as they say there is very tiny scratch on the lens after inspecting the lens unit with magnifier. Luckily for me, the store sold the unit coped it and gave me the brand unit, but I would look for alternative option in the next purchase.
i have x3 and only jalous for those quick attachable lens guards on x4, but the rest i am happy what x3 captures

With a couple of hardware and software changes this could be the greatest dash cam ever.
I want all this and have it also streamed to my bicycle handlebar-mounted iPhone, so I can view what's coming up behind me in real time.
If they put in a rolling delete function and enable the gyro to sense impacts, then it would be a very nice dash cam indeed.
I was about to pull the trigger on the pocket 3, and now I'm stuck again. They're both great id say, and both would work for what i intend to use them for, a mix of vlog and pov photo walks...
Any advice that could unstuck me?
So, I was in a similar situation and then realized that the perspective I get from Pocket 3 is pretty much the same as my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Handling is almost similar because you have to point the camera to where you want to capture. Insta360 allows me to reframe later and that means I can just point the camera wherever and just enjoy the view/environment when I travel. I can then edit/change perspective later.
Another plus for Insta360 for me is that it is waterproof and also rugged. Both are positive features when traveling. I can also let my kids handle it when traveling without worrying about anything breaking.
For me, the freedom to now have to constantly be worried about whether my framing is correct was worth me picking up the X3. I had it with me in Disneyland walking around on a hand mount and was able to enjoy the moment more. I was even able to spot things that I didn't notice in the moment. The flexibility is fantastic, and almost entirely worth the price of admission on its own. One of the weaknesses of my X3 compared to my hero 9 black was the quality and FPS, but with the X4 they've bridged that gap quite a bit, looking forward to picking this up as soon as I can sell my X3.

I'd be interested in a video by you devoted exclusively to stills photography using the X4 and how this would be different from other action cameras.
Dedicated camera as advantages due to much larger sensor sizes so can not compete on quality but can not do 360 extreme action sports and be 100% waterproof.
Of course! That's not the point. The question is what might a professional photographer do with this camera shooting stills. Obviously it is not designed for this purpose. It just might be creatively interesting.@@Windsurfingaddict
Fair enough, I see other comments on Utube about the single screen photos and they say they are ok but nothing to write home about.
Insta360 needs to release their own wireless microphone compatible with their cameras.
I've been spoiled by my DJI wireless mics, it would be great if they could have built in receiver capability while maintaining the weather resistance, would allow me to hook my in-helmet mics to the camera. It supposedly has bluetooth capability but the samples I have heard were not ideal as the mics on helmet comm systems tend to isolate voices and eliminate exhaust noises. The mic I have for my chin mounted hero 9 black is dialed in for a balance of voice and exhaust, while minimizing wind.

I still don’t understand why they can’t add 10 bit or LOG to their cameras, but this is easily the best looking 360 camera available.
Insta360 has LOG. Even X3 has LOG.

I use 360 to film and keep in 360 for VR.

Bear in mind that the Pocket 3 provides real 4K video. The X4 provides only 2.7K when reframed. But it really does depend on what you plan to use a new camera for.
