WattsCraft - Braid Runner 2020

The WattsCraft Steel Eel is back in action for summer. Navigating some premium Dart River channels.
Jet boats is a 3.4m (11ft) WattsCraft custom hull with 14degree dead-rise and Hardox 450 steel keel. Power is a Kawasaki 15f jetski engine and Saco 160mm river jet pump. See www.wattscraft.com if you want a jet boat hull kit.
The #gopro 9 is hard mounted to the windscreen and the new horizon levelling and stabilisation is ridiculously good. ND16 filter helped with bright conditions.

Yeah we love it, cant really fault it apart from fuel use and pump noise.

What's the upstream and down stream GPS speeds looks fast! And so the steel keel is that a bolt in section that is in place of the alloy keel in the hull flush mounted and sealed with some sealant ? Or does it bolt over top of the alloy ( like how UHMW plastic is installed ) and has it dented at all , so far ?

Boat is going between 60-75kmph. Go pro wide angle makes it look way faster. Steel is bolted in without alloy above it, we have a earlier video showing it in detail. Leaks a bit but this was the prototype and subsequent boats have more bolts etc. no dents at all on steel so far. Next build is using 3mm steel so that will be interesting.

Most kits we sell with steel have it as an overlay with a complete alloy hull above. no leaks but a little heavier obviously.

Total weight is close with the steel only keel plate. If you put the steel over a normal alloy hull it would be a fair bit heavier than plastic. Much more durable than plastic and alloy.
