- The perfect boutique double-cut for today's player. The body is swamp ash with a highly figured quilt maple top, we then perfect the body with the addition of real flame maple binding. The maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard with a compound radius, this is made for today's more complex playing requirements.
The 1965 is upgraded with our Epic Eleven electronics mod. With this hot rodded approach you can access 11 unique sounds. The '65 comes with Rockfield pickups voiced specifically for this guitar.
We finish this off by adding a smooth two point tremolo and locking Grover tuners. Get your hands on a 1965 for yourself to enjoy this perfect combination.
Epic Eleven Mod:
The Epic Eleven electronics hot-rod mod delivers maximum sonic versatility. With Epic Eleven you get to break away from the typical 5 tones limitation of a traditional 5-way switch wiring. The secret sauce is the added mini-toggle, which allows you to add in the neck pickup into configurations where it would not normally be available. The second way that the Epic Eleven Mod adds sonic options is with a push-pull on the Master Volume which allows you to coil tap the bridge humbucker, switching from hum to a vintage single coil tone.

Bravo. Once again. Your playing is soo awesome. Somewhat Steely Dan'ish. You have gotten me verry interested in this Beautiful Guitar. I just need to sneek it passed my wife. She told me (One more Guitar in this house? & I'll be renting storage for it... or an apartment for her) Thank's again.
Sincerely: James Tippens.
Ps: I don't care about how truely authentic it is? It looks like a highly crafted guitar. If you want a true vintage guitar? Then buy a true vintage Fender. This guitar is awesome. No matter what other's might think?
Nice looking guitar sounds good bought Micheal kelly years ago great for the money rock field pickups sound great had many guitars over the years big names still nothing to close to my blade rh2 but these guitars can't beat for the money
Loved that stuff you opened with Mark!
Great feel and playing Mark! Really enjoyed this one.
Mark makes me want to buy any instrument he can plays.
Wonderful sound
think ill get one, Great guitars for the money
id like to try one out👍🙏🎸
As always, excellent playing and review! Seems to be a very versatile guitar...
Mark's tone is always gorgeous! Don't matter what guitar he has... :-)
beatiful guitar and excellent guitarist. joe from argentina.
This dude is great at reviews... fantastic player too
Very nice and great playing as usual, cheers!!!!
Sounds and looks beautiful.
This guy plays awesome guitar
one of your best playing
Nice axe too! I may have to "Wait A Little While" before I can afford something like that.
Beautiful clean tones. I know that’s usually the best way to tell if they’re high quality but for versatility sake, I wish you would have demoed them with classic rock overdrive and even heavy metal distortion and overdrive to see how versatile the humbucker is.
Im thinking of purchasing a brand new Michael Kelley tele. Think its good for the price 😎👋💯🎸🎸. Sounds good 👍😊
Just keep playing Mark that will sell that baby!! : )
Nice guitars. On my list of potential new.
bien mark...... felicidades!!
I need a bigger music room / office , more money to buy more guitars , and a new job to pay for it all !!!
So many mid priced guitars had Fender Ultra features long before the Ultra existed.
Is this a Sam Ash owned company? Great demo🤙🏼
No mention of tremolo tuning stability
B.C.Rich was useing those pups last i knew
I would change out all those Rockfield pickups. And put in some Seymour duncans. Then it would be a fantastic sounding strat.
MK already has the 1967 Double Duncan
I would agree your own personal preference of pick ups will change any guitar that you play you would have to customize it to your preference of sound
How is the tremolo? Stable?
I like everything except the headstock
Is Birdseye maple wonderful fretboard, The looks of a headstock don’t equal to the passion play ability of the instrumentalist who rarely thinks about that while he is enjoying his chops.
Something tells me the pickups sound less than desirable with overdrive.
I catch the feelin that guy thinks that thing is a piece of shit haha
No the pick up selection it’s just overwhelming he is right it takes a lot to get used too, it’s really too much for most people, choices, choices = perplexity. He does a wonderful job to explain the 11 differences.
Did you use the tone control with the neck and middle pickups?
I thought I woke up in an elevator with than intro.
I don`t know ,but,it seemed like Mark was searching for acceptable words in describing this instrument...didn`t give me a lot of confidence.....
I'm sorry, but why call this a 1965? In no way does it pay homage to a classic strat from any period. The woods are not traditional, it looks like it has a slabboard, which wouldn't be period correct for a 1965. It has a two point trem, the list goes on...Great playing, but most boutique builders are obnoxious.
You consider a $499 guitar to be "boutique"?
Pedant. Who cares---it's just a model name. And I don't think you could describe Michael Kelly Guitars as boutique. It's a budget brand.
It's the 3-tone sunburst.
Get a grip, it's only a model name :)
A budget brand?.....heaps more mojo than Mim Fenders, heaps better quality in my opinion.
Are these made in China or Korea ?
Made in Indonesia
Korea
Headstock screams "cheap import guitar." I can't understand why manufactures get everything right but the cheap saddles, truss rod & headstock presentation?
Not sure what you're seeing. Looks almost exactly like a tele headstock. I don't think anyone would call those cheap. Michael Kelly is a really good brand.
That’s a warmoth neck, it’s awesome, jumbo frets and ebony fretboard. No complaints.
Jazz on a Strat? Umm, ok then.
