Regardless of what we think of Adrienne, she was a good example of what to do when you don’t feel right in a relationship. Never settle. It may be embarrassing that you’ve invested all this time but if he is not the one for you, he’s not and I rather be embarrassed before any huge commitments rather than after getting married and possibly having a kid and having all of that stress and heartache attached to me.

In this case, if Adrienne feels that affection is important to her then she should find a man, which she did, who will satisfy that need. Thank you so much for telling this story. I wasn't previously aware of the situation, but I can relate on many levels. I was in a relationship for years, and towards the latter I was discontent. I just kept telling myself that we already put so much time into it, we should make it work. When it finally came time to talking about long term, I knew I had to walk or I'd be unhappy. Has nothing to do with him being a bad person, he just wasn't for me. But he will make a woman very happy one day. I'm happy to say that I am happily married now.

I'm happy to see her happy. I deeply empathize with her when it comes to saying yes, even though it didn't feel right. When you're with someone for so long, you WANT to see it work. And even through the ups and downs, there's a quality to the person that keeps you intrigued, whether it be the hope of things working out or changing, or the special moments between you two that feel right...I'm just happy she listened to her gut and broke off the engagement versus having to get a divorce.

*Nikki C* no it's not about the classic blind in love. This hit me hard cause I been in the EXACT same type of realtionship that she had been in. Let me tell you deep down under all the lies and fronts she poorly tried to force herself to fit into for the world, the real and lenny she knew. She tried accommodate and change ehrself or just put up with it out of moral obligation and to stick it out. This was a mental realtionship more than emotional, they mentally loved each other but did not love from the heart. Cause the fact he never grew to take risks or at least try to grow and be more affectionate let alone give her a key or whatever that shows it all.
Like look at her face after announcing her engagement to Lenny versus her engagement to Israel. The joy in her eyes seemed force versus genuine as it was with Israel. So glad she was able to listen to her heart and it led her to her true heart's desire of a man! 💜

When you really love someone and you're all in, its only natural that you would want public displays of affection reciprocated. I couldn't imagine a lifetime without affection and longing for that in a relationship, much less a marriage. When you have to gauge whether to approach the topic or even the inclination to touch or hold your boyfriend for fear of rejection, you could only imagine what that feels like as someone's wife
