Thank you so much you made this video. I was so annoyed everytime it beeps especially during bedtime.I replaced the battery of our kidde smoke detector easily after I watched this video. You showed it very clearly! 👍👍👍
Thank You for the step by step. I would not be able to change it if I didn’t see your video. All my kids away home , they are who help me before, now I can do it myself. A big Thanks to you again
Thank you - the hardest part is how to get it detached from the ceiling mount, which you showed very well. One detail missing is the polarity of the battery. It turns out this information is on the underside of the battery cover, but it is very hard to read, as it's in raised letters in the plastic, and there is no contrast between the letters and the underlying plastic. So just use a flashlight or your mobile phone light to make it all readable. On the model HD135F that we have, the polarity markings are near the hinge of the cover.
Thank you for this informational video. Couldn't figure out how to disconnect the wires to change the battery and the video with steps made it alot easier. Thanks again!!
Thank you so much for this meticulous video. It took me through every step, especially explaining the little red plastic piece that fits UNDER the battery (I never thought of that). I'm very appreciative of your effort. Just great.
In the middle of the night my smoke detector went off. Husband can sleep through anything so I had to search videos to explain how to replace the battery. Yours was the best video by far getting right to the point and clearly explaining everything. I struggled a bit trying to insert the battery before realizing I had to turn it over. Who knew... but now I can go back to sleep. Thank you!!

Thanks so much!! Question I broke the red plastic strip in the battery compartment, because i watch this video afterwards lol, is the alarm still good?
Thank you so much for this! I think I just be missing a step though. I followed everything to replace the battery and it was still chirping, but, not beeping. I put in the batter two different ways to test it out. I put the battery in and the red battery reminder clip went down too. Closed everything up, screwed it back into the ceiling, pressed the test button and it did a series of beeps. About a minute later, it is still chirping. Not the super loud alarm, just a chirp. Thank you for your video! It’s really helpful. Just a quick question, will the smoke alarm still have flashing red light after changing battery? For some reason, mine still have flashing red light but no beep.
I have seen mine blink Red without any sound. If its every 60 second, then it happens when smoke battery is changed and reset. This happened for 10 minutes. After that LED flash every 10 minutes.

The red light flashes on other 4 smoke detectors as well, which I presume means their batterries are running low. But why is the one that I replaced still flashes with red light? Is it because it is connected to the rest? Thank you!
Hello, As per Kidde Website, below can be the reasons- Red LED Indicator: The red LED will blink in conjunction with the alarm sound. Therefore, the red LED will blink during a smoke alarm, a low battery mode chirp, a unit error mode chirp or at end of unit life.
Do i need to turn off the power source before touching the wire of the smoke detector? Looking at the internet, some say I should turn off the power first before removing the smoke alarm unit. Any advice?
Hello, If you are removing the unit to change the battery then you don't need to turn off the power and its plastic adapter that directly goes into the unit and doesn't expose you to any wiring. But if you are planning to replace the smoke detector unit then, recommended to turn off the power. Also, if you dont feel safe taking the adaptor even though its safe, i would recommend turning OFF the breaker so you don't feel hesitancy of any kind.

Hello, May be your smoke detector is wiyh fixed 10 Year battery. This needs to ne replaced after 10 years from Manufacturing date on the smoke detector.
Hello, May be try using bit of added force, also, make sure you are turning it on the clockwise direction to open. Latching system on these Smoke Detector is very simple and doesn't require any special tools. Sometimes if paint or paint touch up is done after smokes are installed, paint drips to the frame and dries off. Try cleaning that and open. Please also check if your Smoke is with a built-in battery, which doesn't open but need whole unit replaced. Check face of smoke detector to see which one is it. There might be manufacturing date, if Smoke mal-functions within 10 years, it has a limited warranty and Kidde can be contacted for a replacement unit. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other question.

I try to replace my Kidde but this model don't have battery in the back so I'm thinking to replace with new Kidde.
Hello,
May be your smoke detector is wiyh fixed 10 Year battery.
This needs to ne replaced after 10 years from Manufacturing date on the smoke detector.
Thank you 👍😊
You're welcome.
Glad to help
Thank you so much
You're welcome.
Happy to assist.
Do i need to turn off the main for that ? Or just remove the wire ?
Hello Kimberly,
Yes, Please turn off the breaker from the Main Electrical Panel.
Thanks
I’m twisting it really hard and it’s not coming off. What am I doing wrong?
Hello,
May be try using bit of added force, also, make sure you are turning it on the clockwise direction to open.
@@How2 Thanks. I finally figured it out. It had a pin that needed to be pried out that was preventing it from turning. The pin was in that little notch on the side that is visible on the one in your video.
@@How2 Also, once I removed it I found out that it is the version that does not have a battery in it. It does have the wires plugged into the ceiling though.
@@ion-shivs In this case, if it is still in 10- Year warranty, you can get in touch with Kidde Customer care and request replacement. They will mail it to you.
@@How2I didn’t know that. I will get in touch with them. Thanks for the quick responses!
