  • The New York Jets opted to go with Olu Fashanu with their 1st-round pick, deciding to protect Aaron Rodgers instead of giving him a new weapon. Colin Cowherd and former Jets HC Eric Mangini reflect on the pick, and the shocking selection of Michael Penix Jr. by the Atlanta Falcons. Plus, they ask if Bo Nix will be a good fit for the Denver Broncos.

And to the other guy, there’s no need to jump and get excited when you get Nix bc 1) it was almost certain at that point 2)they put in all the other work (smoke screens, misdirections etc) to assure they got the guy they wanted without trading away picks. Bo was Sean's guy all along, at least in the batch of 3 "2nd tier" quarterbacks available. He baited Minnesota to move up a spot for JJ. The post-pick interviews have all been positive for all 6 quarterbacks, but I think Denver knew they couldn't reach far enough for Williams-Daniels-Maye, so they focused on Nix-JJ-Penix. Out of those 3, Bo was always our choice.

Who are the Bears going to throw the ball to? Bears have "4 receivers" already on the roster. Imagine the pass rush with just 4 Defensive Linemen if they added BYRON MURPHY II. The best interior defender in this year's draft, Murphy brings an explosion inside that the Bears need. How many Superbowls did Tom Brady and the Patriots win with a “trio of #1 wide receivers”?

    I said the same thing on the Denver Broncos RUclips channel 8 o'clock this morning, Peyton and the general manager did not look excited picking Bo Nix! in fact neither of them said they were excited till they were six minutes into the press conference. history shows you're lucky to get one quarterback in the entire draft that will go on to be a successful starter. The Broncos have a project quarterback and maybe in a season or two he will be ready. Look how much benefit Jordan love had sitting on the bench for three seasons, Mahomes, Brady, Lamar, Aaron Rodgers most of the really good quarterback sat on the bench for several seasons. Broncos better hope Peyton can get Wilson to improve or it's gonna be a long season or two!

    It shows they are dysfunctional from the owner down. I'm ok with that.
    And why are all the "sports pundants" expecting ATL to win the NFC South ? Really ??
    I think Jason Licht might have something to say about that, certainly Todd Bowles and definitely Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans.

    Eric Mangini knows what he’s talking about, especially with the Falcons head scratcher. That’s not team building. Penix is excellent but he’s played A LOT so he’s going to be ready to start but Falcons don’t have an out with Cousins until after the third season. Then again at Cousins salary if they bench him he will beg for a trade if anyone wants him. Just a mess in Atlanta.

    Weird take since he drafted 2 in one rd granted he was the best talent evaluator they have had in my lifetime and the line he built was the top unit in football

  • @codyhughes4472
    @codyhughes4472 20 дней назад

    Not one person mentioned that cousins could be traded even. You’re getting at least a first round draft pick and they take on the contract. They have a guy that’s a solid nfl qb and get to evaluate the guy they loved in the draft. New England during their dynasty gained alot of draft capital from developing back up qbs. And Tom Brady was drafted right after drew Bledsoe signed a big contract. Also I think it was Flynn as a back up to Rodgers signed a big contract with Seattle just to draft Wilson. Cousins would at least have trade value. I think cousins and Dak are about the same level. I probably take cousins. Good to great at times. Not elite.

  • @andreroti3195
    @andreroti3195 19 дней назад

    Jets brought in 3 o line through FA, that is true, yes. But Morgan Moses and Tyron smith are both 33 years old and Tyron smith hasn’t played a full healthy season since 2015. If your franchise LT is there at 11 you take him. And he can learn from both of those guys. I guarantee he will start. Our o line can NEVER stay healthy. It was a good pick. TE Brock bowers was the luxury pick but Olu was the necessity pick. Ruckert and Conklin will be fine.

    Bo Nix was 3rd on SPs QB board. You can disagree all you want but there's a reason why Eric Mangini is making marginally coherent arguments on TV shows and Sean Payton is being paid $20M per year by the richest owners in sports to coach an NFL franchise.
    Mangini's take is so bad. The proof that SP liked Bo better than JJ is in the trade up by Minn and relatively low cost for it in the end. If SP wanted JJ he would have blown that trade out of the water, but SP wanted Bo all along. The Minn trade was to protect against the Raiders not the Broncos. The Raiders guy got nabbed at 8 and that made Minn a little worried about losing JJ to them, JJ being Minn's second choice behind Maye.
    Maye was too much of a fundementals project for SP. Payton isnt the kind of QB guru who fixes bad fundamentals, thats not what he looks for. I dont see Sean Payton as the kind of QB guru who would have fixed Josh Allen, but he is the kind of QB guru who will scheme a system to fit a guys strength and Bo's strengths are all the things SP wants in a prospect.
    If you cant see how Bo Nix could legitimately be the 3rd QB on Sean Payton's QB big board then you just dont get it. Disagree with him all ypu want, but that is how SP saw it. He has said it and I believe him.

    Mangini is so wrong, so often. He would've applauded Bowers at 10 for the Jets. Well...Douglas took Fashanu, who most consider a top3 O-lineman in this draft, then having only ONE pick in day 2, he gets WR Corley, who in play style is very similar to ....guess who? Bowers! A weapon who breaks tackles, lines up in a variety of places & some call a "mini Deebo".

    Well atl can trade cousins to raiders if penix works out early. Kirks making 2.6m a game so why should he care for the last 2 years of his career. Penix isn’t young either , no need to waste a rookie contract. Hopefully morris can coach up the defense. It does have some gaps.

  • @FalconSprint86

    Mangini is way off on his comments. If Denver wanted Jj McCarthy, they had plenty of capital to trade for him including picks or Pat Surtain if need be- who’s worth anywhere from a 1st and a 3rd to 2 1st round picks. There’s a reason Mangini don’t coach anymore. Go Nix. Go Broncos.

      The problem is joe Douglas signed 3, THREE offensive lineman in the offseason, re- signed Hansen, so that’s FOUR offensive lineman. And then he drafts another who won’t even be playing ..... that’s the issue. It’s a waste of a top 11 draft pick. Could’ve had the best playmaker and weapon of the entire draft.

    • @DyslexicIm
      @DyslexicIm 20 дней назад

      Manginis point is they used an 11 pick to draft depth on their line. A guy that won’t even start barring an injury to one of the many lineman they picked up in free agency. All while Brock bowers was just standing there waving at them.

    • @jetsclaps
      @jetsclaps 20 дней назад +3

      @DyslexicIm then he should have said that lol not some rambling diatribe about "30 guys." LT is the second most important position, and the Jets current starter is old and injury prone. if you don't see the value of this pick then you don't know football.
