It was weird, because his songs aren't really played on any of my local stations. I turned it up. When the song was over, the DJ broke the news. I cried all the way home.
It’s worth mentioning that he was stone sober when he died. He’d been successful in cutting off drinking and drugs and even in whatever dark time preceded his death, he didn’t relapse.
Elliott Smith and Jeff Buckley are two of my favorite musicians ever. They both died in such crazy unbelievable ways. I sometimes dream of the music they would have made if they weren’t taken away so soon.
Tim Buckley, Jeff's father, had a similarly tragic death at the age of 28. I also wonder what beautiful music we were deprived of as a result of his passing.
His mom was my first grade teacher. She brought him in the year he was nominated. He played a song for us. I will never forget his fingernails bitten down to the bone. He was so kind and soft spoken. His mother is an angel. ❤ Walt's #2 is about her I believe. Forever a fan.

I’m glad the case was never closed. I never thought it was suicide. I’m so grateful that he shared his mind and talent with us. 2:45am, angel in the snow and no name #3, three of my favorites by him. And of course miss misery, but that’s a given!
I also read that his girlfriend Jennifer Chiba, the one who said he abused substances to try to forget about his childhood, was also using. Although he was clean off everything at the time of his death. Her alibi that she was taking a shower when he allegedly stabbed himself to death is oh so dubious. Would be more likely that she took a shower after the stabbing took place, which would indicate that she as the perpetrator. I so much appreciate the legacy of music he left us. His mum was a very pretty junior school music teacher. He had a tattoo of Ferdinand the Bull who didn't want to go to the fight, but went anyway. Ferdinand's story ended with back in his peaceful meadow. I sincerely hope and pray Elliott is at peace too.

I lived in Portland Oregon for 9 years and my birthday is also August 6th so I like to think that that gives me just a little bit of connection to my favorite musician ever.
Neighbors heard a fight. Elliot allegedly stabbed himself in the chest multiple times. His girlfriend decided to take a shower and wait an hour. Then called police.
I seriously believe it’s his girlfriend, there are people that’s been a suspect of murders that literally have no connection to them but here are clear dots that they still haven’t connected.
I looked into it I don’t think it was murder although I heard she was pretty terrible. I do believe if they never dated he could have lived longer though, since she was known for being toxic. I honestly am not 100 percent though I think it could be either but I think it’s more likely a suicide. I do agree that he is the greatest musician ever.

There are numerous things his girlfriend did months after to try to cash in some money from his death, but more importantly - if you stab yourself, your muscles automatically lock up around the knife and your brain won’t let you pull it out yourself as a defense mechanism, someone else has to do it. It would therefore have been impossible for him to stab himself twice. It’s the same thing about how you can bite through another human’s finger as easy as biting a carrot but you can’t do it to yourself, your brain stops you from biting too hard. RIP Elliott. You were too pure for this world.

I got scrapes & bits of grit all up my legs bc I had stripped off most my clothes & goodness knows what- no woulds on my hands at all.

It's possible that someone got away with murder.

I honestly think about killing myself daily but I do care about the pain I’d cause others. With my disorder I am literally happier on the streets or in jail than I would feel being untreated for my condition and hurting others. But the trauma I’ve endured has literally altered my brain chemistry and I would sometimes purchase strong alcohol because I thought that maybe it could convince me to just man up and do it already. Bang..done. I wanted to be gone and repeated that desire internally like an obsessive mantra. If Elliott really did experience abuse at the hands of his step dad while his cluster B mother just let it happen then I honestly have unconditional sympathy for him.. As a druggie guy or a blessed person. Honestly, the clear minded dropout who’s looking down upon the the junkie struggling to exist.. it comes off close minded and a little lame..maybe I misunderstood.. Exactly and I know from experience sadly lol that your body doesn't just let you thrust a knife into your chest full force first try lol. If it was a suicide there would be multiple hesitation wounds and most likely not two massive stab wounds.

@@PInk77W1 I have bipolar type 1 and grand delusions brought on by the manic cycles psychosis and schizotypal symptoms. Had my share of trauma. I honestly think about killing myself daily but I do care about the pain I’d cause others. With my disorder I am literally happier on the streets or in jail than I would feel being untreated for my condition and hurting others. But the trauma I’ve endured has literally altered my brain chemistry and I would sometimes purchase strong alcohol because I thought that maybe it could convince me to just man up and do it already. Bang..done. I wanted to be gone and repeated that desire internally like an obsessive mantra.
If Elliott really did experience abuse at the hands of his step dad while his cluster B mother just let it happen then I honestly have unconditional sympathy for him.. As a druggie guy or a blessed person. Honestly, the clear minded dropout who’s looking down upon the the junkie struggling to exist.. it comes off close minded and a little lame..maybe I misunderstood.. I always try and at least attempt to empathize.. we have no idea what others are going through.. maybe situations but we’re all going to react differently…maybe I’m disappointed in what you said out of my own misunderstanding.. to me.. your reply just,

What does Elliott sound Like
For the most part he was an acoustic artist. Just a mellow indie sound.
He was very influenced by the Beatles White album and the movie American Beauty wanted to use the Beatles song Because but it would have cost a million dollars. Then they realized that the company making the movie also had Elliot under contract in their music wing. Elliot was given some studio time and hammered out the song in one night and used the valuable extra studio time to record a couple of songs for his next release
Oh yeah it is at the very end of the movie for the closing credits
