I saw a recent interview with Jane, where she knew she didn’t have long and was still organising. World needs fifty of her. RIP.
RIP Jane McAlevey, Enlightening entity devoted to enhancement of knowledge and analysis of real world research into the mechanism of labor and production the crux of the dichotomy of capitalism.
So exciting to hear about the documentary, Katie. ❤️✊RIP Jane McAlevey✊❤️ And, yes, let’s get rid of pollsters. You are deeply missed, Jane. Thank you for your invaluable service to humanity. You will live on in our hearts and in all you worked tirelessly for. Way to go.👏✊❤️
I just read the Wikipedia page on Jane McAlevey. What a powerhouse of devotion to the workers of the US and the world she was ! Truly an amazing and inspiring person . Her legacy is profound and her work will go on. RIP Jane McAlevey .
Katie, James Connolly said: slavery wasn't abolished because of morality. It was abolished when the capitalist realised it would be cheaper to free the slave and hire him back for a dollar a day out of which he would have to feed himself rather than keeping him 24/7 whether he was sick lame or lazy.
This is a brilliant conversation. I learned so much. I'm sorry for this loss.
I didn't know she was ill 😔 Keep organizing. Democracy at your workplace must be fought for. The rich concede nothing without a demand.
RIP Jane! I remember this episode. Her insight on how to make people less prejudiced through union organizing and collective class struggle is so powerful. There was a research study I learned about in college about how racial prejudices in a group were reduced when they had to work together to reach a common goal. What she said are real life examples of that working. Btw I miss these long episodes from the height of COVID where you just got people to just talk about what they're knowledgeable about. May have to go back and watch some over.
RIP Mrs. McAlevey. Couldn't agree with everything but learned a lot. 🙏
Wow, most people have “hindsight is 20/20,” but Jane had serious foresight. Thank you, Katie!
Tadgh is pronounced like the word tiger but without the r.
