After 20 years of family practice and palliative care experience, Dr. Maté worked for over a decade in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side with patients challenged by drug addiction and mental illness. Gabor is an internationally renowned speaker highly with expertise on addiction, trauma, childhood development, and the relationship of stress and illness. His book on addiction received the Hubert Evans Prize for literary non-fiction. For his groundbreaking medical work and writing he has been awarded the Order of Canada, his country’s highest civilian distinction, and the Civic Merit Award from his hometown, Vancouver. His books include In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters With Addiction; When the Body Says No; The Cost of Hidden Stress; Scattered Minds: The Origins and Healing of Attention Deficit Disorder; and (with Dr. Gordon Neufeld) Hold on to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers. His next book is The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness & Healing in a Toxic Culture is due out on September 13, 2022. His next book, Hello Again: A Fresh Start for Parents and Their Adult Children is expected in 2023. Gabor is also co-developer of a therapeutic approach, Compassionate Inquiry, now studied by hundreds of therapists, physicians, counselors, and others internationally.

No it's not ! Anti-Semitism has always been a matter of slander and defamatory accusations repeated over and over again so that they become truths in people's minds. So criticizing Israel's policies, or calling for a just solution for the Palestinians is not anti-Semitic. Speaking of tree terrorists, I recently saw an interesting article on the tree situation- the gist was that most of the trees planted were native to Europe, not Palestine, to give the newly transplanted European settlers a better, more homelike feeling. In an ironic twist, these trees are apparently not doing well and are easily ignited, and many of them have been burning now as the conflict with Lebanon smolders.
Interesting, I visited many years ago on a work tour and notice a lot of gum trees , apparently a gift from my country Australia.
Israelis destroy olive trees.
Meanwhile settlers tear out olive indigenous trees that are over a thousand years old just for spite, ecocide, cut ancestral ties to subsistence for Palestinians and in general try to break spirit of Palestine.

One thing I love about hearing Dr. Mate talk about the conflict in how he is always telling both sides of the story and how the Palestinian people are dehumanized by policies of the Israeli government. Balance is what is totally lacking from the Israeli rhetoric on the issue as well as the western media’s telling of the situation, but balance is what is needed for a healthy discussion.
I lived near "Canada Park" in Israel, which was mentioned at the end of the interview (by a gentleman from Canada).
It is smack in the middle between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
In the old days, left-wing people avoided it since they knew these trees had been planted on top of some villages that were there not long ago but somehow miraculously disappeared.
The Tsabar (Sabra / Opuntia) Cacti stubbornly marked the contours of villages that were no longer there for decades, all across Israel. They were easy to spot. Some still are.
In our imagination, the Tsabar represented the new Jew, the prickly, ragged Israeli. In reality, it marked the ruins
we left in our wake and the immense scope of the problem we work very hard to pretend we don't have to deal with.
Now, most Israelis are utterly oblivious to the places that are no longer there. They have no idea it is even a thing.
Even the line between the 'original' Israel and the occupied territories, aka the green line, has faded from the memory of all but a few. If it is not under the control of the Palestinian Authority, it's Israel.

For me one of the critical moments that changed my overly naive and infantile notions towards the State of Israel was when I learned about their involvement in propping up the South African apartheid regime and fascist juntas in Latin America.

If we watch anything to do with the holocaust there is bound to be some repetition, however I find any interview with Gabor and Katie is based on genuine first hand experience and is always so up to date because they have the connections.
Israel and the West like to point at the Chinese and Weegas, wrong spelling I know. But Israel is doing what happens to them. I've heard Palestinians testify of being used for medical experiments, being raped and tortured. Then there are mothers whose children are missing in the prisions. The Qur'an specifies that the Land of Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people, that God Himself gave that Land to them as heritage.
The Israelis did not colonise Israel, the Jews are the indigenous people of Israel not Moslems many of whom came with the colonialism imposed on the Jews by the Ottoman Empire, also before that the invasion in the Levant region of the Rashidun Caliphate who were the previous colonisers bringing Islam in the region.
