You be happy to know this game is inspired by Rodriguez movies. So you know it is going to be exactly that. Not super realistic who gives a fuck do whatever the fuck you want along with John Woo and Tarantino mixed in. Like many of stuff you can do in the game are references to those movies especially most fun and dumbest gun you can get the sub machine guitar case gun
Total Overdose looks like a real fun, over the top time. I'll have to try it out. I'm so glad the game testing videos are back. Thank you so much. I hope you're doing well.
Cheers dude! Yeah i can't wait to play some more of it and I'm glad to back doing some testing. Hopefully the live stream format is something that works out well! 😁
I got to meet 3 of the developers of this game at a game dev meet up in Denmark last year, they were very nice. they were also very shocked when i came up with a copy of the game for them to sign as it wasn't something they'd thought a lot about since. they talked for a while about how much they were experimenting while making the game and because the publisher kept there was very little executive oversight. So they kind of got to do what ever they wanted. it was also while talking to them i found out two of them are founders of Ghost Ship Games who made Deep Rock Galactic. idk I just think this kind of dev story is really cool. Where the people that made niche budget games 20 years ago are making the indie hits of today. it probably happens all the time and we just miss out on those stories because the names of devs is not something most people are aware of.
The only thing this game has in common with Max Payne is bullet time. I can see why you'd make that comparison since it's staring right in your face but it's way more over the top and the tone is nothing like Max Payne.
I played total overdose as a kid but I don’t think I ever finished it and after I started playing games like cod and gta more often I completely forgot about it but every now and then I remember it and kind of wish I could play it again
It's great to see this series back! I always look forward to watching them. Keep up the great work, mate. I'm sure there's lots more of these to come because that box is huge, and it's probably gonna get bigger.
I am always surprised on how few people know about total overdose nowadays. I clearly remember the big marketing campaign the game had with billboards and magazine ads left and right in 2005. Fun game with a great soundtrack, one should really play the PC port tho for obvious performance reasons.
Total Overdose is legit great. Not only is it fun, but the soundtrack bangs. It introduced me to the world of Mexican hip-hop by way of Control Machete, whom I now adore. Cannot believe it's been a year since the last game testing video. Time really is relative.
I played Total Overdose a lot on my potato PC like 15 years ago, I really loved that game, played it through a few times. Really silly fun! And the music is supriringly great in it, too.
Dope to see these Game Testing videos again dude, here's to many more, also, Total Overdose was one of those games I never got the chance to play years back, as the disc I rented was scratched to absolute shit lmao.
Total Overdose is a game I've heard it's praises time and time again, after seeing Jak's experience with the title, well it just made me more interested in checking it out, plus considering how actually amazed Jak was with Total Overdose, it wouldn't shock me if we see a full review video of said goofy game, like with what happened with Apocalypse.
Yea! Game testing's back, mates! Glad you're back to doing this and finding hidden gems amongst the pile, as well as having to play some shit in that pile.
Nearly 6 years later and Jak finally got to test out Total Overdose. I'm glad it was finally worth the wait. Also I'm happy to see game testing back. Oh and I love the Crash shirt. Where did you get it?
Didn't expect to see some Blast action here... The Jumanji game they did is probably gonna be better than National Geographic the game 😂😂😂! Glad to see Testing is back, definitely interested to see what's been added to the big crate.
After a lot of thought, I’ve settled with streaming on RUclips. I might setup duel streams in the future but I’ve gotta kick myself in the ass to do them regularly first
Hey there Jak! Love your Crash Team Rumble shirt! Did you know Neversoft would've turned 30 years old this July? Activision sure finds new ways to p*** off consumers!
First time I hear somebody calling Total Overdose a Saints Row something. It was always "GTA clone in Mexico" or whatever back in the day (probably because it was still 2 or so years before Saints Row, lol). And that's sad. The open world crap always weighted this game down. The core gameplay and story missions are fun as hell and gta-esque padding just doesn't mesh with them. Welp, at least there's half-port half-remake for PSP with no open world (and much more ridiculous story which isn't for everyone's taste).
Yeah Total Overdose the Saints/GTA clone I'd always heard of as bad but to me it's just silly, the hat detail is cool, the Max Payne slow mo move too. Polish/personality may not but still it works I guess. Not my type of game but always seemed as good as those even if not as polished. Ok wall walk kills are awesome. Why do we not see them nowadays always Cutscenes or something. Need more Max Payne, Stranglehold, Wet and more kind of games/movesets not grounded games with boring protagonists. Can we not have acrobatic characters again in games not bore fest generics. We don't need superheroes to have great moveset with characters and disbelief. What an interesting riding animals but particular jumps (even Last Tinker PS4 level safe jumps). Some Lion King platforming. An ok kids game/shovelware I guess. An Africa setting game is cool but they need more to it but it's Blast so yeah quality. Those animals scared of fire and no human level instincts with the fire. No guess with water/other objects. Other good shovelware ones yay. XD The skating one seemed fine. Also dragonfly wow some Enter the Dragonfly task on a skating game. Typical shovelware helicopter game when better exist.
LMAO as a Mexican, realizing Molotov was in the soundtrack of this game, and just the sheer act of playing a video game set in a shitty, Hollywood-cliché Mexican Border city was just amazing, even if the game was an entertaining mediocre pile of shite.
What are you talking about... his videos are nothing like AVGN's? Maybe his earlier stuff had some shades of it, but really it was just a common format for game commentary and review.
Total Overdose reminds me of the fact that games don't have to be realistic, but that they can be silly, over-the-top experiences.

I remember playing Overdose a lot as a kid, I loved this game as much as GTA, so fun. Amazing video, Jak

Thanks a lot for sharing that story😊
I always think of it [Total Overdose] as Max Payne with an Open World.

Jesus a year since the last video game testing video??? Time flies! Glad to see you here again Jak.
Man i love your game testing videos! You either end up with hidden gems or games that defy comprehension.
It's great to see this series back! I always look forward to watching them. Keep up the great work, mate. I'm sure there's lots more of these to come because that box is huge, and it's probably gonna get bigger.

Agree. You should just continue this series in streaming format so that you can spend as much time as you want for each games
Thank you Jak for playing total overdose my favourite game and thank you for who ever sent the game to him for this game testing
Saints Row x Total Overdose would be insane and make me lose my mind. Instant 100/10.
The “REAL” Saints Row though, 1 & 2.

Almost thought you were doing the Saints Row reboot
When I saw the title, I thought that as well. But when I see the thumbnail sith it's protagonist, I thought "Max Payne but in an Open World"
What’s the font in the thumbnail?
Damn man you been losing weight? Looking slim!
Do you stream on twitch? I notice you've done youtube streaming in the past but I never really look there for streams myself
After a lot of thought, I’ve settled with streaming on RUclips. I might setup duel streams in the future but I’ve gotta kick myself in the ass to do them regularly first

The revulsion is evident. Don't do em if you hate em bro

So you have been watching some old videoes from Cinemassacre? you are cool, wish you stop trying to be him tho.. Every video is like his
What are you talking about... his videos are nothing like AVGN's? Maybe his earlier stuff had some shades of it, but really it was just a common format for game commentary and review.
Both are way different than each other
Operation Air Assult is no Ace Combat
