The Mummy on Nintendo DS looks like one of "those" games on the DS, where they had to shoehorn in as much touch screen gimmicks as possible (as that was the style at the time), much to the detriment of the game, even more so with the left handed control setup.
I remember really enjoying Quackshot back in the day. It's almost a metroidvania. IIRC you have to take the plane to another destination where you met that dude and planted the flag. Games back then weren't quite as obvious as they are nowadays haha
Presume they weren't obvious so that frustrated kids (and their parents) end up calling the hotline number for hints/tips. Well I never called the numbers and if a friend didn't have the game, and couldn't help me, that was it, game went back in the box never to be seen again. Most notably Bart vs the Space Mutants!!
Your short fuse with the DS games was quite enjoyable to watch. Funny how you said you wanted to punch the enemies and the next encounter tells you how to do just that.
Ah, Quackshot! My childhood! I don't blame you for hating that. Without a manual, you're SOL until you look it up online. This game is a little tricky to understand. When you meet the dog explorer, you're supposed to call your plane by accessing the pause menu to get to the level select. Basically, it's a Metroidvania type of game.
I really hope Hawktober this year covers some Tony Hawk clones/ripoffs such as Grind Session, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, Thrasher: Skate and Destroy, Aggressive Inline, etc.
My theory for Hawktober. Movie reviews of stuff like: Mind the gap Rocket Power Race Across New Zealand Disney Channel original movie: Brink Johnny Tsunami Johnny Kapahla: Back on Board and then to top it all of --- A reaction to 2 hours of skateboard fails.
Almost another one of those torture game testing episodes, also FrameRater did a full analysis on Raze's Hell I recommend you give it a watch but yeah another good video dude, you should do more DS testing videos in the future too...
Yeah the plungers as tools or some item I assume I don't know for sure never played it but just a guess but still for back then was probably confusing with a pretty bad piece of dialogue there. It's why I like games with using items in the environment it makes level design fun, you use things for more than combat and you have to think outside the box in a way.
I will not accept any quackshot slander 🤣Easily one of my favourite megadrive games EVER!! I grew up with this game and when you actually understand how to play it, it’s so so so gooood!! The haunted castle and Dracula level is the best!!!! And the Viking ship! You really need to take time to play it and you’ll appreciate how good it is!!
Scooby doo looks kinda cool! 👀 13:46 Having to use the stylus on a ds is the whole purpose of playing on the ds no?😅 I just bought the mummy for ds the other day and loved it! Cool puzzle game, but wait.. that is not ok O.O in mine I actually use the d-pad to move 🤔strange maybe its the ntsc version??... it seems it ruined the game completely for you :/ but to shoot you just need to click in the direction you want to shoot, not swipe in the direction. And for avoiding get killed just position yourself better ;) I had no problem in the begining and hope the game gets harder after. Good video tho 😅👍
Who the hell would program a DS game where controlling the main character involves using the symbol buttons? Someone has been smoking weed when developing The Mummy DS game. I unfortunately own the PS2 version of that game.
quackshot is 1 of the best games on the megadrive lol, you should give it another chance. Youve gotta use the flags to go to different areas then return when you find the new items and equipment
Now I don't know about that DS version but I did really enjoy Scooby Doo Unmasked on Gamecube as a kid, and I tried it again recently and it felt pretty decent
bruh I remember when my parents gave me the DS port of Mummy 3 for Christmas of 2008, stopped playing after I got stuck in the first mission for too long :P
These testing episodes always have games never heard of and is always a surprise of some cool, dull or average game gems or trash. I remember Raze's Hell or some similar game at some point (I think from the channel Framerater if I remember correctly) and it was an odd OG Xbox games with a cute/dark vibe. The characters you play elimination of the others for whatever reason I don't know having not played it. It seems alright. Different but interesting. The enemies look/sound like Grunts from Halo or Spanx from Whiplash going on and on with quips. Got Battle Engine Aquila vibes with the shooting sound effect and Scaler vibes with the roll (besides yes Pitfall). Heard of Quackshot no idea of the quality besides the footage here and others that have covered it. A heavily controllable shoot em up with lower environments that don't seem to serve much purpose and the story is probably average at best. Fine idea of switching character types with different moves but the touch screen stopping yeah it didn't need it. Not the Mummy Demastered by Wayforward ah so unfortunate. That button layout seems like a left handed control scheme as the default is odd. One for the emulators to rebind then sigh, unless it is still bad of a game. Or No Man's Sky having sprint on right stick for... Some reason because I think some other function is used. Very odd but I guess. Then again I struggle to play Geometry Wars Galaxies with the buttons or stylus because the layout is possible but not the way I'd like left or right handed. It's playable just not in the layout I'd prefer it to be. I have considered using the 3DS circle pad even if it's moving the same but feels better to replicate the d-pad I know it doesn't give analogue because it wasn't programmed for it.
Well Square Eyed Jak that The Mummy DS game seems to be one of the few tie in games for the third movie Tomb of the Dragon Emperor which was weaker than the first two Mummy movies, anyways the movie got a Wii Version which is pretty good aside from the occasional Waggle Tech that the console usually provided, that game got ported to the PS2 that replaces the forced Waggle Tech that was used for occasional puzzles with the right stick and it's an even better game because of it, Jak my man if you want a better game based on those movies the PS2 version of Mummy 3 might be you're best bet dude. Also there's Mummy Returns on PS2 but we don't talk about that one.
Holy shit! I remembered quackshot being a game i got really immersed in when i was 3 or 4 on the megadrive, but i never remembered that it was my first experience with metroidvania elements! I was going along thinking my first time was that first level of lego star wars where you nee a tiny character to go through the crawlspace for that collectible, but it was MFing needing the grapple gun in quackshot, wild. Not having nintendo consoles pre-ps2 was a strange bizarro world where you had all the same experiences nintendo players had but second hand in worse titles.
On Quackshot, where you talked to the dog character, if you press START to bring up the menu, you can call the plane to take you back to the Level Select (the plane can only be called where the green flag is). Shame the dog doesn't explain this. To find the other tools, you need to check the Mexico or Transylvania. :)
Soooo with quackshot. Not saying it’s a you problem. But as a kid when you play a game and you see your main character has a plunger gun, your usual first instinct is yo I wonder if I shoot walls and use the plungers to climb! Lol I mean that’s me channeling my inner kid as I watched and was like bruh when didn’t see u even try that idea lol. Also curious if your check out skater XL or session that just “released.” I couldn’t get into xl myself and was sorely disappointed even after getting outta a bargain bin at Walmart. Session while has its hang ups I have found some fun in now I figured out the controls and played a few days, heck I was even able to recreate my real life board I built in the game ( the welcome zombie love deck, with black trucks, and green wheels, just put neon green grip on it in game though cause my real board I used clear grip so could the welcome logo on it green deck.) like to see your input on those site games.
Come on Jak, you didn't even play any of the amazing (insert sarcasm) mini-games on Winx Club QftC! XD At least Winx Club on the PS2 was actually an okay Harry Potter style adventure game, rather than a bunch of terrible mini-games. The GBA of Winx Club QftC is actually worse than the DS version, just for including a shitty version of pong.
▪️ I hope you make a video on metroid one day. It's my favorite series by far. If you never messed with Metroid, I'd say start out with Super Metroid. Don't even bother wasting time with 'other M' - actually on second thought - DO play it so you can roast how bad it is in comparison to other metroids. Most would say Prime 1 is the best out of the 3 primes [and I'm one of those people]. I bought a Nintendo switch just for metroid dread, and all the hype around it. I'd say it lives up to that hype. Can't wait for Hawktober. So excited to see what you have in store for us this year.
lmao the shaggy and scooby voices were perfect

I love Quackshot- I wish it got the same recognition that games like Castle Of Illusion got
Yeah, it would have probably been in the manual, but obviously no good if you had either a rental or just the bare cart...
@@bretton_woods Bart vs the Space Mutants, on the other hand, IS a shit game :D
Game testing is such an underrated series.
"I can't figure out how to play Quackshot, so that makes it one of the worst games I've ever played."

"Is this a kid's fuckin' shit"?!
Square Eyed Jak - 2022
I’ve never heard of that Raze’s Hell game but it gives me a lot of Oddworld vibes
DS testing, now this should be fascinating
I really hope Hawktober this year covers some Tony Hawk clones/ripoffs such as Grind Session, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, Thrasher: Skate and Destroy, Aggressive Inline, etc.
Noice man! DS shenanigans let's goooo
Always excited to watch a new game testing video. Also that camera quality is amazing.
"Before we do Scooby Doo,we NEED to play Winx Club."
Priorities. XD
My theory for Hawktober. Movie reviews of stuff like:

Bring on Hawktober it's going to be huge :D
I love these videos.
the childlike wonder you have when you laugh at how weird these are. GOOD STUFF
The words hawk and (oc)tober combined should not make a better combination.
Can't wait to see it
Best series on RUclips!

so excited for hawktober! crack on mate, absolutely loving the frequent content as of late!

Thanks for making these awesome videos Jak!
Hey mate. Quackshot is pretty much a Metroidvania game. It's super cool once you get into it. Need to use that flag to fly to a different area.
The video quality is excellent Jak. A new camera? The channel is truly on the up now ♥
4:45 I got this game when I was little from Family video they were closing and had a huge sale the game definitely stuck with me lol
Another great video 😁 love your Shaggy impression 😂
0:34 The Winx Club fanboy in me is screaming in jealousy and excitement
The DS has to be the home of most shovelware poopoo out there.
Wii
What the Hell maaaaaaaan?! Quackshot is an awesome classic.
I actually use to love Scooby-doo Unmasked as a kid! Good to see the gameplay again ngl
quackshot is 1 of the best games on the megadrive lol, you should give it another chance. Youve gotta use the flags to go to different areas then return when you find the new items and equipment
Great impressions on the Scooby characters. Made me laugh. lol
I'm excited for Hawktober!
Where's that Cortex tee from?
Now I don't know about that DS version but I did really enjoy Scooby Doo Unmasked on Gamecube as a kid, and I tried it again recently and it felt pretty decent
bruh I remember when my parents gave me the DS port of Mummy 3 for Christmas of 2008, stopped playing after I got stuck in the first mission for too long :P
Heck yeah Mr. Eyed Jak! My water tells me this is gonna be a good one.
Got that potty mouther 6:54

I actually had the Scooby doo game as a kid though I have no idea where it is
That Raze's Hell game was wild 🤣
came here to check on Hawktober. Not disapointed!
It looks like the mummy game was made for left handed people.
You know what DS game are a peice of work? The WWE games on DS, 2010 is the only genuinely enjoyable one out of the 3 released
I used to own Raze's Hell & forgot it existed, holy fuck lol
Whenever I see a new upload from Jak:
INSTANT HAPPINESS ✨
It's a shame the DS Mummy game is so terrible because the PS2 version is actually a really fun time. It's almost like Uncharted before Uncharted.

Instant classic testing ep

Why not play Elebits Wii?

i never played Raising Hell on XBox before so i don't know about it
I'm ready for Hawktober
Problem with these crappy licensed DS games is they need some excuse to use the stylus. I friggen hate the stylus dude!!
Come on Jak, you didn't even play any of the amazing (insert sarcasm) mini-games on Winx Club QftC! XD
