  • My name is Bulama Lamino Abdullahi, representing the Tandari Mashamari community. I had the privilege of participating in the GHIV Africa MIYCN and Referral Pathways program in Jere LGA, This program implementation has led to the formation of father-to-father and mother-to-mother support groups at the ward level, aimed at effectively implementing the program's objectives.
Through my active participation, I gained valuable knowledge about proper nutrition and breastfeeding techniques. Previously, many women in our community were unaware of effective breastfeeding practices-some used only one breast, while others neglected feeding when their child fell asleep. Now, we understand the importance of using both breasts and exclusively breastfeeding for the first six months, which has greatly improved our children's health.
Since adopting these practices, our community's health has significantly improved. We are healthier, more informed, and deeply grateful to GHIV Africa and IRC for these transformative nutritional services.
I highly recommend this program to other communities, as its impact has been truly life-changing.
