Winners should get a supporters shield badge on their kits.

When your partner talks about the types of assists, he forgets something very important, and that is the quality of Messi's goals and compares them with Suarez. Messi's goals are mostly amazing goals, authentic gems, while Suarez scores many tapins (typical goals of a CF).
And Messi has only taken 1 penalty, the less from all the other candidates.

Loved this video cause both topics are important to discuss. Regarding the Messi MVP point, I was the same as you until recently thinking if he won it would feel hollow. But what changed my mind was A. the stats B. the fact that weirdly the MLS APPLTV commentators seem to be so anti Messi getting the award that they kept moving the goalpost. First they said he should be DQed because he wouldnt play half of the games. Now on the most recent broadcast when it was seen Messi will play 18-19/34 games, now they say hes not the MVP because Miamis PPG with Messi is currently the same as their PPG without him. While true on the surface level it is true when you look at the actual quality of results for those PPG its not even close. For the 17 games With Messi, Miami has +20 Goal Diff. For the 15 games without Messi the goal dff is +5. So although the number of wins is the same, each win without Messi are matches tha could easily have benn losses if 1 thing changed. I think guidelines should be made.
As for the Cup vs. Supporters Shield argument, for me Supporters Shield. But what I hate most about this argument is that whenever someone says "the entire world decided a league shows who consistently the best team is so why not the US" an American wil give the same as answer as Favi and just say "Well F the World. We are MURICA so we do playoffs".....But never actually explain WHY the playoffs matter the most. I bet that if tmw Don Garber announced that a team can earn a Star on their badge/ crest for winning EITHER the Shield OR the CUP, then the average fan will argue the Shield is better. Sorry for the long post :)

Really good point about the supporters shield vs MLS cup. Eastern conference is much weaker than the west this year so getting to play those teams twice is a big advantage.

Messi has only 1 penalty goal. And also Messi goals are most of the times bangers. Messi barely scores a tapin.

MLS Cup has always been the Pinnacle of MLS. Winning Supporters Shield is a great achievement but should never be held higher than winning an MLS cup.

"You don't get to play every team" - that's BS
do you play every team in the playoff? You play fewer teams in the playoff than you do in the regular season, how does that make you the best team if you apply that logic?

MLS media used to clown on the supporters shield and then suddenly it matters now that messi won it. Be consistent MLS media.

You can’t make him MVP just because he beat the Columbus crew. Let’s pump the brakes. They got a one goal win😂 Yes Messi is the 🐐.
