- Travel with the train driver as we travel from the Tunnel to Healesville station on the Yarra Valley Tourist railway. This is the full length the train can travel at the moment as the track past the tunnel is undergoing a major rebuild. We look forward to being able to travel into Yarra Glen in the future.

Fond memories of those little rail motors when I was a boy in rural Victoria, they were like a mobile oven in summer! Great scenery along the way, nothing like a train ride at a leisurely pace and not going like a bat out of hell!

It was mooted that the line between Lilydale and Healseville would be reinstated, back in the '80s. Local war cry was "Where's our train, Cain?" John Cain Jr was Premier at the time. Never happened.
Then there was talk of Coldstream.... 🤔 hmmmm. 👍😀

How long until this line is fully up and working? It's been so many years and they're still not past the tunnel really.
There is a lot of work being done. It's a complete rebuild of track and bridges. All being done with volunteers. Should be good when it is done. 👍😀

It's taken donkeys 🫏 years to get the line to Yarra Glen..
It's a complete rebuild being undertaken without the resources of the government and relying on volunteers. Looking forward to completion. 👍😀
@@driver667 understood. The trestle bridge over the Yarra was completely burnt during the 08 bushfires I'd doubt that would ever be rebuilt.

Fantastic video...I noticed recently a turntable atop a flat top goods carriage at Yarra Glen. To be installed to enable a steam locomotive to be turned for trips to Healesville hopefully?
I'd love to hear of a J class or k permanently deployed there for tourism in the area
