  • Travel along the Puffing Billy Railway from Lakeside to Fielder in the Dandenong ranges in the East of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on the 2ft 6inch gauge railway which was once the lifeline connecting this area to the rest of the state. Now a magical ride for tourists, it runs through the beautiful scenery that the ranges have to offer. Well worth the trip and easy to get to with the connecting Melbourne suburban railway at Belgrave.

Great video!! This section of line goes (literally) past my backyard and I walk through the surrounding forest most days. Brilliant to see the driver’s view of my favourite train - thanks so much!

Excellent set of videos of the line. Love to hear the loco working hard up the inclines. Is there a gradient profile of the line available?

@@driver667 Thanks for the link. Looks like a great place to find info about the railways in your area. Living in UK I didn't realise how many heritage lines you have.

Why didn’t the train go any further up the line there?

This area is so incredibly green, it's no wonder they named it Emerald.💚
Does the train run year round, or does it shut down in the fire season?🤔🔥

It runs all year except for Christmas day. 👍😀

@@driver667 I think on total fire ban days , a diesel locomotive is substituted for a steam one. btw Great video.
