It’s true that they didn’t really explain how this game’s world came about beyond that there was a war, so for now it’s up to fan speculation. I like the fan theory that Jon over in the channel ThoughtBubble came up with. The kingdom is named “Euchronia” which is derived from a real word “Uchronia”, and a uchronia is a form of speculative fiction where historical events go in a different direction (like all the what-if stories about the Allied Forces losing WW2 for instance). His theory combines that fact with the info about the war, all the magla you can see in the air like radiation, and that all the tribes of the kingdom used to be human. He thinks this world is an alternate history where humans discovered magla rather than nuclear power, and the arms race and war that resulted from that discovery eventually led to this world. But hey, that’s just his theory, a post-MatPat game theory!

With the magic academy restored, can you image this sequel or a spinoff: You're a new student in the Magic Academy, restored a decade ago. You befriend a girl on royal scholarship named Maria. The first night at the academy, you're pulled into a mysterious room while you sleep. A man with a cat head sits at the desk. "Welcome to the Academia. My name is Plateau. This place exist between mind and matter, fantasy and reality."
I loved this game so much I played through it 3 times. I _still_ teared up at More's ending narration when the video got to it. Thanks a bunch for playing through this and sharing your experience. It was honestly a delight. 😊
What an amazing game this was. Back in the prologue we were all joking about how this game was more or less just "Medieval Fantasy Persona", but the game really did succeed in forming its own identity! The story, the characters, the voice acting, the artstyle, they were all S-tier, and absolutely worthy of this game's nominations and awards won at the Game of the Year awards! Well done, Atlus. Even with SMT & Persona dominating your repertoire of games, you've proven that you can make amazing standalone games as well :D
It may not even remain a standalone game. With its popularity and sales there's a very good chance that we'll be seeing a sequel sometime in the future.
Seeing the player's name is a perfect aww moment The ending scene of this game feels like something from AFK Journey. Add Edge of the world and it's hard to not see it.
Let me just get this out the way first, BEST Protagonist, no question, just having him be able to say more than like,3 fricking lines, made it go a long way, other than that, watching this game was great, but I still think P4 is a little better for me because I liked the characters a tiny bit more there. But again, this game, story, characters, art, everything was amazing, and it was a blast watching it all!
I dont know what you have in mind for next but I reccomend The Legend Of Heroes trails in the sky, the first game of an amazing franchise with great characters, not voice acted so you two can do voices which I know you like to do. Prob best female protaganist of all time and just its a great series. The remake may be coming out this year but the games carry over saves and levels between entries, and this way you won't have to wait for the second one to get remade
Atlus last year really did a good job in developing awesome games, I hope they keep doing awesome experiences like Metaphor or Persona (story-wise) and SMT (gameplay-wise) also I hope Atlus someday remaster or remake classics like Digital devil saga and Devil survivor I think you guys probably will love this games.
I got no clue where they’re planning to go with a Metaphor 2. Will it be… _any_ of the same characters at all? Idk man. But either way _distant Simple and Clean approaches_
The sequel could take place on another continent in the game world or even a different world altogether. There's no rule saying they have to use the same world and setting continuously after all.
I was certainly pleased with the ending this game has. A 4.5 out of 5 stars for me. Kind of sad Atlus teased us with Eupha’s romance stuff to all end up being nothing…
I really liked metaphor and this game and the three persona games are all more or less the same level for me (overall) Saying that persona games never played a role in the official GotY awards is pretty unfair though and part of it simply not true. P3 ( P3 reload doesnt count because remakes never win GotY) and P4 were released 2006-2008. Back then JRPG's were a very small niche, a genre/games the vast majority of gamers never even had on their radars. They wouldnt stand a chance for GotY be default, no matter the quality of the games. The only JRPG series that was somewhat relevant/known back then was final fantasy. In case of P5 your statement is simply not true. P5 was just as high up in the GotY awards 2017 as metaphor was in 2024. As far as I remember either 2nd or 3rd place after zelda breath of the wild ( an incredibly mainstream franchise). If they released P5 in 2024 instead of metaphor, the game would probably just as high up as metaphor. JRPG become more and more mainstream suitable in the last 6-7 years.

First Atlus game I actually completed. I quite enjoyed the journey.

Man, what a fantastic game. Persona 4 is still my personal favorite, but i can't deny that this is easily the best rpg Atlus has done so far.
I think the same, P4G and Metaphor have become my favourite Atlus games.
Reading the credits with all the characters' full names... did we ever learn Neuras's full name? I don't recall that coming up in his social link.
An interesting detail is that all of them are animal names except for some villains who are named after plants.

I see the old ATLUS never ending epilogue lives on in Metaphor. I skipped almost 30 minutes of the video.
