    + Charles Werbick. Really like this, brilliant project. iv been trying to build it, but im getting error messages from the Bike Alarm sketch -
    Bike-Alarm:708: error: 'class Adafruit_FONA' has no member named 'getGPSlocation'
    fona.getGPSlocation(gpsdata, 80);
    Does this look familiar to you?

    A good idea, but me personally If I saw a bike standing with a bag on the bag at the back of it AND if I were a thief, curiosity would make me want to look in the bag BEFORE i moved the bike. In doing that and seeing a light of any sort I would pull at any wires I saw hoping that would be the supply to the device. If it still functions after that then it is a good idea.

      john a - acknowledged... this was merely a demonstration of the prototype functionality. The final design has the hardware and ebike battery plastic-welded together in polycarbonate. But even as a prototype, it was still usable. I concealed the circuit within the space INSIDE the battery allotted for the BMS circuitry (most ebike batteries have empty space inside for the BMS circuit board, not all of which is used) and put a duct-tape pocket on the battery itself for the RFID card. The only indication at all was the chirp of the alarm arming/disarming. (Also i figured out how to kill-switch the bike battery with the alarm by connecting it to the BMS ;-)

    Ummm, this is awesome! Are you going to put this on kickstarter or soemthing?

      Adam Potaznik - Thanks! If there's a demand I'd definitely consider it. Until then, it is an open-source project and is documented on hackaday.io (with thee source available on github) if you're a 'maker' type of person. ;-)

      Charles Werbick Unfortunately, I am more of a "plug and play" type of person :D However, I do have a BBS01 and am thinking about getting an N360 like you, so more security would be good to protect my investment.

      Adam Potaznik Right on. If I get the chance to produce it, the details will go up on on Hackaday...
      BTW - be careful with the n360 if you get one. I lucked into mine for DIRT CHEAP and it is working fine. But I've heard more than a couple of stories about them totally self destructing in ebike setups and using any motor larger than 250W voids the warranty. :-( so I baby mine...

      Charles Werbick Yeah, I am really unsure about it because I can't get service, and I will need help installing it because I am pretty n00b at bike tech. I know about the warranty thing but I think on your BBS02 instead of your GF's 01 it has a much higher risk. Plus Melbourne is flat, I want speed not torque. My issue is that gear changes are clunking with my current 8 Shimano groupset, if I want to upgrade to a clutched derailleur (which are only 10 speed) I also need to get a new hub, cassette, shifter and chain so it will cost me AU$350 to get all that so might as well get the N360.

    I'm unfortunately much like Adam Potaznik, a plug & play kinda guy, but after spending thousands a on build much like your own BBS02 with a Nuvinci and all manner of custom parts ( about 5k spent so far ).. gps tracking is the only way I'm going comfortable leaving my ride unattended.. i know of at least one system that can be installed in the head tube and intend to grab that, but more options would be a relief.. i reckon it'd be worth your while trying a kickstarter.. if i could incorporate a tracker into my handlebars and frame I'd drop that cash at the speed of light..

    What's the standby time on this thing?

      sanshinron - how long will it sit running before it kills the battery? a couple days armed depending on signal strength. longer disarmed as the newest version of the software puts the cell phone into standby mode when the alarm is disarmed...

    Why did you not turn this into a consumer product?
