    That must hurt. One fish shy, with the big one he missed on the hook set. Jason Christie seen lots of fish under docks that wouldn’t bite the chatter bait. Switch up, Senko, swim bait or crank bait/ jerk bait. I thought that’s why you have multiple rigged up rods in the boat?

    I wish they’d stop trying to turn this into the Super Bowl. I get why they do it...they’re competing with a lot of other media but still. I miss the days when bassmaster was dignified and all about the fishing. Now they have guys riding chariots into arenas, hosts imitating joe rogan and “the bite of the day brought to you by Burger Shwing (where you can have it your way)”. It just doesn’t have the same magic it did 25 years ago on TNN.

    How do you get into bass fishing, seems easy to only catch few fish with some weight. Im an upcoming perch/pike fisher in Sweden. Mostly perch fishing.

    • @jeffsmith8958
      @jeffsmith8958 5 лет назад

      You move to the south or west of the US preferably, spent thousands on gear and a boat, pay big entrance fees into tournaments, and hope you catch five big ones in 8 hours. It looks easy, but these guys are reallllly good at this, it’s their livelihood and they practice constantly. They go all over the country to different bodies of water, use an array of tactics to fit the conditions and you’ve got to constantly be catching fish to be competitive. On a positive note, tournament fishing is super fun it’s enhances the rush of catching a big fish by a factor of 100.

      Christies a powerfisherman,, jordan lee is simply more versatile,, and versatility is the most important factor in winning at this level.

    • @stonehorn4641
      @stonehorn4641 6 лет назад +1

      j c I don't necessarily agree. I've fished a lot of tournaments. 8 this year so far including Canadian FLW and Bass Pro (my sponsor) Cups. I fished around both these guys multiple times, and Lee is great, but Christie is every bit as good. Fact is you can't fish bass that aren't there, but if you second guess yourself and bail on your plans, things just get worse.
      I mean, nobody is better than KVD, but he gets trounced all the time. Fishing is as much luck as skill at that level. I won tournaments I thought I had no business being in, and lost small local tournaments on lakes I know so well I shouldnt even need a fish finder.
      Christie is a much better bad weather fisherman than lee. Lee is a better low water top water fisherman by far. Other than that, is say they are pretty even.

  • @chriscosby51
    @chriscosby51 5 лет назад +1

    coming from a dude that fished hundreds of tournaments including the bassmaster open series..you can almost tell by the attitude whether they have a shot to win or not. I admit when I first heard of mat and Jordan lee..i instantly didn't like them you have to understand the old school fisherman had to fish their way to the top. There was no way to buy your way there. Everyone at the time earned their right to be there. Jordan and matt lee had rich parents that got them into a rich school, where their father funded the entire fishing team. Don't get me wrong, he has earned his way ever since in fact one day hes going to be a truly great fisherman. All about the attitude..why Jason Christie is always bridesmaid never the bride..attitude.

    • @jeffsmith8958
      @jeffsmith8958 5 лет назад +3

      “One day he’s going to be a truly great fisherman” ??????? I’m sorry but last I checked parents money can’t just get fish to bite a lure! Jordan Lee is already a truly great fisherman!

    • @chriscosby51
      @chriscosby51 5 лет назад +2

      @@jeffsmith8958 highlighting your own replies now lol. you got to pick out one bad part of what I said. No money cant buy a bite, but takes money to get to that level of tournament. His dad completely funded his high school team and then made sure he got in a college that had a fishing team. Money cant buy it all, but money helps. I know truly great fisherman that have never and will never fish a BASS or FLW tournament for 1 reason lack of money. No he isn't great hes done great things. And if you ever fished before youd know that sometimes you can get lucky. But credits to 20 year old Jordan lee with 70 years bass fishing experience lol.

    • @chriscosby51
      @chriscosby51 5 лет назад

      @@jeffsmith8958 he does have more talent than his brother will say that, that boy spent half the 2018 elite season not even getting a 5 bass limit..yet hes still there.. Money my friend money.

    • @chriscosby51
      @chriscosby51 5 лет назад

      @@jeffsmith8958 on question..have you ever fished a B.A.S.S Tournament. Federation, open or otherwise?

    • @jeffsmith8958
      @jeffsmith8958 5 лет назад +1

      Nope never fished a BASS event. I don’t know how to highlight reply or what that even means so not sure what that is about. Matt Lee is a different story but Jordan Lee is already a great fisherman, no matter how he got there. Perhaps his brother shouldn’t be there although he’s made a number of 12 man cuts but Jordan doesn’t need to ever fish another tournament and he’ll be known as a great fisherman. Again, parents money can bring opportunity but it can’t put fish in your Live well. Plenty of fisherman have wealthy parents who’ve bought them $$$$ boats, all the gear in the world, own multiple lake homes, etc., but they don’t have 2 Bassmaster Classic trophies. I understand you’re overall point, I do, but to deny his greatness is silly.

    2. They do not go to the West Coast.

    • @jeffsmith8958
      @jeffsmith8958 5 лет назад

      I disagree after watching the first MLF event. I just don’t like the format I think tournament bass fishing should always be the heaviest 5 bass limit wins. I don’t mind the releasing of fish, the penalties, but the 3 periods and change of the entire scoring process just didn’t meet the hype for me. I liked MLF as kind of an offshoot type deal, kind of like a change of pace to BASS or FLW. The technology aspect and live scoring is nice but BASS can add that too!

      It would be awesome to have some more people. I think it is gonna take a lot more underrepresented groups to start trying because bass fishing is purely meritocracy. Fish dont know or care who you are and only the biggest bags can win.

    • @skydiver6711
      @skydiver6711 5 лет назад +1

      Why should BASS have to do anything about it? There is not one single rule or condition for fishing their tournaments that does one single solitary thing to prevent ANYONE from fishing in their tournaments. There is not one single thing in any sporting goods store that would keep anyone of any race from purchasing any piece of fishing tackle from the plastic worms to a bass boat. I have seen plenty of people of color who have bass boats and fish on a regular basis and have better equipment than I do. If you are black, white, brown, red, green orange or blue. You are welcome to come fish in a BASS sponsored tournament. What do you think BASS should do about it, have an all black fishing tournament? Kinda racist thing to do don't you think?
