A great-looking e-bike. Russ, salads are great, but watch the add-ons! Because I lack strength (because of age and health issues), the weight of the e-bike is a problem. My e-bike is 60 pounds, and that's my limit. I have a ramp to load the e-bike, which is fine. Temperatures in Northern Virginia are in the 60s and 70s, and yesterday in the 80s. The date is 4/22/23.
I like the look and the performance of that deer. I like those cut away to the 360 view too. You look very comfortable on that bike and pretty aggressive look as well.
Great review!! I just bought a green Deer for me and a white Ocelot Pro for my wife. This thing is a beast. I'm 6'2" and 245 lbs. and it carries me up hills like I'm half that size. I love it! My wife loves her Ocelot Pro also. Your reviews really helped us to decide on the Magicycle. Thanks!
Gorgeous bike Russ. With a second battery to extend your range, I think this Magicycle Deer will be your go to #1 bike. You'll go 70 miles on one trip, and with full suspension and a bikearoo saddle, will be a very comfortable ride. A front basket and the 2nd battery on rear rack you'll be set for long excursions. I think MC has an upgraded battery bag too. Ride on Russ🚲
I just received my Deer and I'm quite happy with it. The build quality is exceptional. Note it's heavy plenty of power and really nice going on roads that are to say not in the best shape. I can see easily getting 60 plus miles on the 20 AH battery but Wont take it down to low. All In All it's a great E Bike...
Nice video review Russ!! You can tell eBikes are coming into their time, when more vibrant colors are appearing!! Great job, naming that color too!! Nice, you can also see the rear suspension working, even on a smooth path! Looks pretty comfortable!!
That is cool that you named it Neon Green which it is. I like the looks of this. A bit too big for me but I do like the style. I know Rip1Outdoors loves his.
If I was in the market for a new bike, the 'deer' looks like a good choice for the money. I did wonder about the range. Otherwise, good review. You have nice bike trails to access without trailering your bike.
Russ, I would think that because of your knee issues, it would be less stress on them if you used a step thru instead of having to swing your leg over to mount the bike. Or does it not matter?
Russ, You and I need to rideoften to get some weight off before our cruise. You know we gonna gain some weight that week. LOL. I gained some back during winter too. On the road to loose some before Alaska.
I gained two pounds after the three Vegas buffets but lost four pounds when I got back. I need to lose 20 lbs so I can gain 10 on the cruise. Hahahaha!
Hi Russ, FYI there is a firmware update I saw from another reviewer (maybe yours has it already?) but it’s under Advanced Settings on a line called “Pace” and you can select Off to cancel Cruise Control. Hoping it appears on my Cruiser Pro but not sure it will happen on its own so hoping you can ask Magicycle? Keep up the good work my friend…
@@RussIsRight True. Maybe double check your advanced settings and look for that “pace” setting as someone with a Magicycle Deer has it in his settings and he showed it on his newer RUclips channel.
Russ you really need to start testing the Aventon bikes they are UL Certified and that is becoming a serious concern for battery safety! Keep up the Great Work enjoy your videos.
Great review I see you are from Deer Grove area I am in Buffalo Grove Neighbor :)) I just bought Xpeak should I return it for this one ? I love the looks of this bike and the range , but I also purchased spare battery for the xpeak . Mainly I need enough battery to get me to work on throttle only (no pedaling ) and back which is 19 miles one way . What you say shoud I return the Xpeak ?
Up to you. I have not had any experience with the Xpeak so I can’t advise you about it. The Deer has a lot of power but to do 38 miles round trip on throttle only, you would likely need a second battery for it.
Don't really have a favorite. Each bike seems to offer something that the others may not. But overall, I like the larger 26 inch wheel bikes best over 20 inch wheel bikes in general.
@@RussIsRight thank you. I will likely be purchasing one in the next month or two and the variety is daunting. I’ve been leaning towards an Aventon but have not totally decided. 👍
Hi Russ, enjoy your reviews but you didn't talk much about the rear suspension. Is it just a steel spring or a small hydraulic shock or piston? Is it adjustable or replaceable and will it last the lifetime of the bike? What if there is a large weight difference between riders? Is the bike rideable if it breaks? Maybe Magicycle can inform us through you. Thanks so much!
It is not adjustable and is just a spring. No idea how long it will last since it's essentially brand new. If you are heavy like me, you'll notice the smoother ride, but I can't say how it will be for a lightweight rider (since I am not one... ha!)
What manufacturer makes the motor & battery for the Deer? Is the rear suspension adjustable? I’m a bigger fella like you & notice it bouncing too much when you were peddling. I would take that bounce out. The suspension should be for bumps. Is it UL certified? It’s a very nice looking bike! That’s for a nice review.
The batteries are LG batteries. Not sure who makes the motor for Magicycle. The suspension is not adjustable. I don't believe it is UL certified as many others are not as well.
How do you keep from getting a sore rear on long rides? Is it just a question of finding the right saddle? For me after 20 miles or so I'm ready to get off and walk it.

Hey Russ, I’m 62 and thinking about this bike. What would you suggest? I’m looking at mainly looking to ride paved trails and would like it to be comfortable.
This is a big and heavy bike, just so you realize. I'm 5'10" tall and just barely clear that top tube. You could also consider the step thru version as well which would make it easier to mount. But sure, this is a good bike. An alternative would be to consider something like the Cruiser Pro and get a suspension seat post and a good saddle. But having the full suspension bike is nice of course.
@@RussIsRight thank you. I’m am more about comfort. I used to ride a road bike years ago. I was training for a 100 mile ride but only made it to 50 miles. Thank you.
The Deer only comes one way. But the Ocelot and the Cruiser have pro versions. These bikes add hydraulic brakes, a stronger motor, a hydraulic front fork and a a longer range battery.
It is a 3D printed thumb throttle that I had done at my local library. If you look in the description of this video I did on it, you'll find a link to the file. Good luck! ruclips.net/video/OPPBwhGP-Ns/видео.html
I have never tried a cruise control bike before, but I just don't see the point of it. Seems a little unsafe until you get used to it. Besides, I pedal 95% of the time so it would never kick in for me. But I guess it's useful for others.

I don't know why it is out of stock or when it will be in stock. Maybe it's been too popular? Who knows. No, they are not discontinuing it. It will likely be back in stock as soon as they are able to get more here to the USA.
I prefer the responsiveness of the Deer 26 but the suspension of the D7. The Deer has a quicker response time when you push the throttle or the pedals. The motor reacts immediately. It also has cruise control which comes in handy. The D7 has a slight delay before it responds. And it doesn't have cruise control. But the suspension of the D7 with its air suspension in the rear and inverted front fork suspension is better. No bike seems to have everything.
@@RussIsRight Thanks for your reply. I ended up getting the D7 and unfortunately the Canadian D7 is built in another factory that is not Himiway's main facility. Why bikes manufactured in 2 different factories differ in features is beyond me, but there was no mention of the differences. When I received the D7, it had the King Cobra display, different forks, the plastic fork protectors weren't installed and no manual. After a week of dealing with customer service, I returned the D7 and currently awaiting a refund. I may try the Deer since Himiway left a bad impression.
