A great-looking e-bike. Russ, salads are great, but watch the add-ons! Because I lack strength (because of age and health issues), the weight of the e-bike is a problem. My e-bike is 60 pounds, and that's my limit. I have a ramp to load the e-bike, which is fine. Temperatures in Northern Virginia are in the 60s and 70s, and yesterday in the 80s. The date is 4/22/23.
Hi Russ, Good to see you out riding , reviewing the bikes. The Deer appears to be a nice bike.
Great review. Now I want one of those to go along with my Ocelot Pro.
I like the look and the performance of that deer. I like those cut away to the 360 view too. You look very comfortable on that bike and pretty aggressive look as well.
Very nice ride today Russ, thank you.
Nice video review Russ!! You can tell eBikes are coming into their time, when more vibrant colors are appearing!! Great job, naming that color too!! Nice, you can also see the rear suspension working, even on a smooth path! Looks pretty comfortable!!
Great review!! I just bought a green Deer for me and a white Ocelot Pro for my wife. This thing is a beast. I'm 6'2" and 245 lbs. and it carries me up hills like I'm half that size. I love it! My wife loves her Ocelot Pro also. Your reviews really helped us to decide on the Magicycle. Thanks!
great review russ you have a lot of nice trails near winston park area pedal with power great.
Hey Russ, I have the Suntour NCX seat post and I dont experience the uo and down movement you spoke of. Love it
That is cool that you named it Neon Green which it is. I like the looks of this. A bit too big for me but I do like the style. I know Rip1Outdoors loves his.
I like this bike, so far i'm considering this one great review . thank you for your time
If I was in the market for a new bike, the 'deer' looks like a good choice for the money. I did wonder about the range. Otherwise, good review. You have nice bike trails to access without trailering your bike.
Gorgeous bike Russ. With a second battery to extend your range, I think this Magicycle Deer will be your go to #1 bike. You'll go 70 miles on one trip, and with full suspension and a bikearoo saddle, will be a very comfortable ride. A front basket and the 2nd battery on rear rack you'll be set for long excursions. I think MC has an upgraded battery bag too. Ride on Russ🚲
I just received my Deer and I'm quite happy with it. The build quality is exceptional. Note it's heavy plenty of
power and really nice going on roads that are to say not in the best shape. I can see easily getting 60 plus
miles on the 20 AH battery but Wont take it down to low. All In All it's a great E Bike...
Good job Russ. @9:50 you said it’s cold out here and there was a girl with booty shorts walking lol. I couldn’t pass that up 😅
I carry 60 amp hours 😀 been waiting for review for awhile I may still buy this bike as a spare bike to have
I recognize some of the areas you ride. I live further NW now, but lived the area a long time.
You’re getting wild Russ
😉🤣
You should do a review of all the screen functions on each bike
Russ you really need to start testing the Aventon bikes they are UL Certified and that is becoming a serious concern for battery safety! Keep up the Great Work enjoy your videos.
If they send me one, I will test it.
Russ, I would think that because of your knee issues, it would be less stress on them if you used a step thru instead of having to swing your leg over to mount the bike. Or does it not matter?
Nothing runs like a deer!
Russ, You and I need to rideoften to get some weight off before our cruise. You know we gonna gain some weight that week. LOL. I gained some back during winter too. On the road to loose some before Alaska.
I gained two pounds after the three Vegas buffets but lost four pounds when I got back. I need to lose 20 lbs so I can gain 10 on the cruise. Hahahaha!
@@RussIsRight Thats my plan as well....Loose 20 and prepare for 10lbs back after trip. LOL
@@RVEnthusiast Hahahaha!
Hi Russ, FYI there is a firmware update I saw from another reviewer (maybe yours has it already?) but it’s under Advanced Settings on a line called “Pace” and you can select Off to cancel Cruise Control. Hoping it appears on my Cruiser Pro but not sure it will happen on its own so hoping you can ask Magicycle? Keep up the good work my friend…
Not sure how you can apply a software upgrade to the existing bike as it does not have any kind of port or bluetooth ability to access the software.
@@RussIsRight True. Maybe double check your advanced settings and look for that “pace” setting as someone with a Magicycle Deer has it in his settings and he showed it on his newer RUclips channel.
Can you review Xpeak when you get your hans on it . Thanks 😀
I only review bikes that are offered to me. So far Lectric has not expressed any interest in sending any of their bikes to me.
How do you keep from getting a sore rear on long rides? Is it just a question of finding the right saddle? For me after 20 miles or so I'm ready to get off and walk it.
Yes, a better saddle makes a lot of difference.
Russ. Do you currently have a favorite bike? A go to that you just love? Or maybe your top three?
Don't really have a favorite. Each bike seems to offer something that the others may not. But overall, I like the larger 26 inch wheel bikes best over 20 inch wheel bikes in general.
@@RussIsRight thank you. I will likely be purchasing one in the next month or two and the variety is daunting. I’ve been leaning towards an Aventon but have not totally decided. 👍
Good morning Russ! Where can I purchase the thumb throttle you have on your bikes.
It is a 3D printed thumb throttle that I had done at my local library. If you look in the description of this video I did on it, you'll find a link to the file. Good luck! ruclips.net/video/OPPBwhGP-Ns/видео.html
Great review I see you are from Deer Grove area I am in Buffalo Grove Neighbor :)) I just bought Xpeak should I return it for this one ? I love the looks of this bike and the range , but I also purchased spare battery for the xpeak . Mainly I need enough battery to get me to work on throttle only (no pedaling ) and back which is 19 miles one way . What you say shoud I return the Xpeak ?
Up to you. I have not had any experience with the Xpeak so I can’t advise you about it. The Deer has a lot of power but to do 38 miles round trip on throttle only, you would likely need a second battery for it.
@@RussIsRight even when I can charge up my battery at work ?
In that case you will likely only need one.
@@RussIsRight thanks 👍
What manufacturer makes the motor & battery for the Deer? Is the rear suspension adjustable? I’m a bigger fella like you & notice it bouncing too much when you were peddling. I would take that bounce out. The suspension should be for bumps. Is it UL certified? It’s a very nice looking bike! That’s for a nice review.
The batteries are LG batteries. Not sure who makes the motor for Magicycle. The suspension is not adjustable. I don't believe it is UL certified as many others are not as well.
Russ I just ordered mine how long shipping to IL ?
I have no idea. It is all up to their stock status and how long FedEx ships from California to Illinois.
Hi Russ, enjoy your reviews but you didn't talk much about the rear suspension. Is it just a steel spring or a small hydraulic shock or piston? Is it adjustable or replaceable and will it last the lifetime of the bike? What if there is a large weight difference between riders? Is the bike rideable if it breaks? Maybe Magicycle can inform us through you. Thanks so much!
It is not adjustable and is just a spring. No idea how long it will last since it's essentially brand new. If you are heavy like me, you'll notice the smoother ride, but I can't say how it will be for a lightweight rider (since I am not one... ha!)
@@RussIsRight Thanks Russ!
On the website it looks like the step over model is out of stock, in all 3 colors. Do you know when they may come back. Or are they not selling that model any more? Thanks Russ
I don't know why it is out of stock or when it will be in stock. Maybe it's been too popular? Who knows. No, they are not discontinuing it. It will likely be back in stock as soon as they are able to get more here to the USA.
Are there any other e-bikes that are belt-driven besides the magicycle commuter bike? Like the idea of the belt-driven bike. Would like a throttle.
There are many other Ebikes with belt drive on the market.
We own Gazelle Ultimate that are belt driven.
My wife’s is an 8 speed and mine is a CVT
There is no throttle on the Gazelle but I like the mid drive Bosch motor and UL certified battery.
23:30 he didn’t gas it out there, it was a diesel. So I don’t know what you would call it, he dieseled it out there.😂
Hahaha! OK... I was Vin Diesel'ed. :)
Would you choose this over Eupree Stellar Falcon ?
Two totally different bikes for different applications.
Hey Russ, I’m 62 and thinking about this bike. What would you suggest? I’m looking at mainly looking to ride paved trails and would like it to be comfortable.
This is a big and heavy bike, just so you realize. I'm 5'10" tall and just barely clear that top tube. You could also consider the step thru version as well which would make it easier to mount. But sure, this is a good bike. An alternative would be to consider something like the Cruiser Pro and get a suspension seat post and a good saddle. But having the full suspension bike is nice of course.
@@RussIsRight thank you. I’m am more about comfort. I used to ride a road bike years ago. I was training for a 100 mile ride but only made it to 50 miles. Thank you.
Looks very attractive. However, I don't understand why they put hub motors on frames, that clearly fit mid drive motors...
The suspension and the controller is in that area on this bike.
@RussIsRight
Yeah, I saw that, cool idea!!!
It's all good, enjoy the rides...
im in ontario canada .... where can i get the DEAR in Canada ??? help
Magicycle sells in Canada. Not sure how to find the Canadian division though. Contact Magicycle and ask.
I have a question what is the difference between the pro and the long range
The Deer only comes one way. But the Ocelot and the Cruiser have pro versions. These bikes add hydraulic brakes, a stronger motor, a hydraulic front fork and a a longer range battery.
Hi Russ. Do you prefer the Cobra D7 or this Magicycle Deer?
I prefer the responsiveness of the Deer 26 but the suspension of the D7. The Deer has a quicker response time when you push the throttle or the pedals. The motor reacts immediately. It also has cruise control which comes in handy. The D7 has a slight delay before it responds. And it doesn't have cruise control. But the suspension of the D7 with its air suspension in the rear and inverted front fork suspension is better. No bike seems to have everything.
@@RussIsRight Thanks for your reply. I ended up getting the D7 and unfortunately the Canadian D7 is built in another factory that is not Himiway's main facility. Why bikes manufactured in 2 different factories differ in features is beyond me, but there was no mention of the differences. When I received the D7, it had the King Cobra display, different forks, the plastic fork protectors weren't installed and no manual. After a week of dealing with customer service, I returned the D7 and currently awaiting a refund. I may try the Deer since Himiway left a bad impression.
@roundgraf6907 Sorry you had a bad situation happening with Himiway.
@@RussIsRight Thanks Russ. Thanks for your replies and your videos. Keep up the good work.
grasshopper would have been better name.
I have never tried a cruise control bike before, but I just don't see the point of it. Seems a little unsafe until you get used to it. Besides, I pedal 95% of the time so it would never kick in for me. But I guess it's useful for others.
Throttle users would like the cruise control.
I like the cruise control that you can turn on only if you want it. Mine has that feature. I just hold down the minus button as I use the throttle.
@@pedrofernandez8729 good point. I didn't know that you could turn it off. But I'm sure it costs more so I personally wouldn't spend the extra money for something I wouldn't use. Nothing against it, just not for me.
@@theflyingfinn6057 Mine has it and I didn't even know cause I rarely use the throttle, I found out by experimenting. It also has walk mode which I never use.
I put in russ300 and it only took off 100
It could have expired since they issued the original discount.
How turn on and off cruise control ?
In the Advanced menu, look for Set Pace.
@@RussIsRight i did put set pace on but how to actually use it ? I see the green gage on my screen now but I have no idea how to use it or disable if I don’t need it ?
@michalmisio64 Holding the throttle in the same position for at least 8 seconds will set it. To cancel cruise, either pedal forward or tap on the brakes.
if Mrs Right joined the channel, would you change the name to the 'Rights are Right"?
Hahaha! Luckily our name isn’t really “Right”! 🤣
I think it would be "She's Always Right with Russ"🤣
@@paulketchum6819 I like that better. Maybe when Mrs R retires this will happen
@@pedrofernandez8729 😅👍
@@paulketchum6819 I can't believe we're planning Russ' future with his channel. He must think we're two crazy, old fools.
Also maybe a ride with your wife
