The most expensive thing I got was a ruby medallion for $6 - compared to the previous price tag of $20 this is an absolute steal. I can only see the medallions going up but again, even if it goes down I'm already satisfied with the current price point I got it at.

I'd be curious what you define as nothing b/c I'm sure there are cards in there with value financially or in play, you can't possibly open 2 boxes and get "nothing"

I have been telling my group for days that the settle point on a majority of cards will come within 1-2 weeks from main release as people opening product race to the bottom in order to move their stuff.

I bought a booster box (non-collectors) for my brother (still a minor) who just got into magic for his first real set. We got some stuff, got an emrakul which he really wanted but in overall price we opened a little more than what the box was worth so it's okay I guess. He did learn a valuable lesson about cardboard crack. Side Note: My goodness the damn commander decks are exploding. Good thing I ordered the precon eldrazi incursion at 70
Bought 5 boxes at prerelease, sold half of the stuff I didnt want, or feel it would remain high. Used the proceeds to fund 3/4 of my next full foil modern deck. Approx 1/2 of what I spent, and still have all the fetches, good foils, and bunch of trade stuff. Feels good.
Part of the drop here is in chaff though. Even chaff has a "high" price tag when spoiled. If a chaff uncommon was spoiled and the price was set at $0.99 and then drops to $0.07, you get a huge % drop. This adds up quick when 90% of the sets is mostly unplayable. So the overall set value will almost assuredly drop a ton. But the high value cards will likely not drop that much. Obviously it just falls to speculation, but the numbers used here are not that helpful.
This is what i tell ALL my friends, the only exception i tell them is if you are going for hard to find foils, cos they don't move too much. Like popular foils.
This set is just fun to play... people are selling out their pre-release events and everyone is finding the set super fun. Limited Play is going to outsell singles, bringing the prices on singles down, predictably. But, yeah, you should be playing the set to have the most enjoyable product engagement with Modern Horizon's 3.
Let's not forget that Fury and Force of Negation were $7 and $25 each at release and they did nothing but climb to the moon after that. Can't say whether buying Flare of Denial right now or later is correct though. $20 ain't bad but it could be $80 or it could be $7 next month.
It depends if MH3 is print to demand like MH2 or limited like Ravnica Remastered. I'm assuming it's print to demand, otherwise prices would get wild fornthe staples.
I've had Arna for 3 days. Did i spend too much? yes. Will Arna continue to fall in price? also yes. But is it worth it to be able to play her at my lgs when i could just use webcam and proxy her? not really...omg what have I done.
They printed the shit out of mh2 set boxes and collector … mh3 cb is a single run and set if way more powerful … the 2 are not comparable … prices will stabilize and then increase
@Matteo.C because you can get away with proxies at tournaments if you sleeve properly, quite easily. I wouldn't be surprised if a good amount of players at big events don't own any the expensive cards A legacy deck could cost thousands of dollars, and you can get one that looks nearly identical without a magnifying glass or microscope for a tenth the price. Or you can build edh to play casually or w/e

I'd wager they'll drop as the MH3 hype dies down, stablize for a few months then go up depending on the cards. Incubator I'd wager going down due to being good in singleton formats while fetch lands will slowly rise because they're in demand bloody everywhere. Check back in 1~3 weeks or monitor those cards.

I recommend waiting 90 days before buying a Magic card. If you can't wait 90 days, wait at least 21 days from release before buying a card.
