I have two Alicera Pacific Nova 'Okika' I have mine in a shaded area in a South window. Why aren't they blooming? I water them like you said and it's been a year since I bought them. What am I doing wrong? Please help. Thank you
One this most of the videos I find miss is type of fertilizer. Not just what you use but the nutrients the plant might want to flower or lifespan. I’ve use fish water to get it to flower. Good video but It seems that there isn’t a detailed video for the more experienced growers
Hi Luke, just need to ask a question. I have a couple of Oncidiums. I have a terrible time hydrating them. The bulbs just seem to stay wrinkled. The roots were not in to good of shape when I repotted. so I assume it if from that, but any tips on how to help. I want another one, but I don't think I'm doing the right thing. Also concerned about where to get lighting correct. I know I need to buy lighting, but I don't know where and what kind. I have a lot of plants that I have bough from Larry's this summer and now I am worried that the winter's here in lower Missouri won't supply enough light. HELP again. Thanks so much. Susan Spencer
Make sure you mist the growing medium every 2 days. Also, regular fertilizing is important to building healthy roots. The last thing is for artificial lighting, I always recommend anything more than a 75W CFL.
I have an Oncidium Rex Van Delden 'Pink Bees' that has recently bloomed. I bought it because the description listed that it was fragrant; however I haven't been able to detect fragrance yet. Does this onc. need to be really warm to release fragrance?
EDDIE VANOVER some omcidiums fragrances release at different times of the day..could be early in the morning or sometimes in the afternoon! For example...if it releases Fragrant in the morning you may not smell it in the afternoon. hope that helps!
Great video. I received an oncidium..not sure about how to care for it.. I learned a great deal from this video. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your experience.
What medium you prefer for oncidiums?
Hongyu Zhang We prefer a bark medium with about 4 parts bark, to 1 part perlite, to 1 part charcoal.
Mine love being wet but not dry. They really react to dryness.
