Ok im sorry it smells soooo heavy so chocolaty its just such a redundant smell in my opinion but when i left on about 3-4 hours that strong chocolaty smells dissipated and it smelled really nice but not enough for the price and performance but yea its prob one of the worst ever fragrances that i have ever worn

Bought a 125ml for 180€, and considering what designers cost nowadays I’d say it was a pretty good deal. No it’s not beastmode and having the curse of being compared to the likes of carlisle you might be disappointed. But it’s nowhere near a weak scent, and the siage and ladies reaction is out of this world. I must say the scent was a bit underwhelming at first but now that the bottle has macerated a bit the scent has gotten even stronger. I suggest giving it a proper wearing before you pass judgment.

This video is a perfect example. Maybe not blind hate. But a cursory first impression from a reviewer should not result in a "I beg you not to buy this" video.
To me it smells like a extremely super high quality more interesting niche boss bottled intense with a sandy feel , I would say the hype is real and is so worth it!!

I like Althaïr, I might be in the minority but that's ok. I have a sample which I'm testing and, will get a full bottle at some stage, but not at full price.
This is the point of a "niche" fragrance. Some love it some don't. Pretty much what something niche should be. PDM (to me) is an amazing house with some really good offerings, it's "overhyped" for a reason. This is my problem with fragrance channels. We are basing a fragrance on one individual opinion. And that right there defeats the whole point of a niche fragrance. Again some might love it some don't. What's the point of making a fragrance if you are already expecting what is smells like compared to other similar fragrances. My way of doing this is: Expect nothing... because the metal illusion of hype and over expectation is the absolute killer of joy. Have a nice day gentlemen.

I would like to comment on the fragrance name. If we understand correctly that this name is an Arabic word Althair, then note that this is different than the word Altair, which is the name of AC character. Altair means the flyer, which is now clear why the AC character had this name. But Althair means the rebel, or in some context might mean the seduced or the sexually attracted... where we can see here why the fragrance is named after this name.
I found the opposite to be true with a Fragrance. I spray two sprays on my arm, and my wife smelled it from about 12 to 15 feet away. Also, I wore it one time in about six or seven hours after I had sprayed it my wife walked into our bedroom and asked me if I just sprayed something, so it doesn’t last as well. The only problem is my wife and my daughter absolutely hated it on me so there’s that.
I liked it a lot at first. But I’ve worn it recently and it became sickly sweet on me. And I really like sweet fragrances normally. But it was just too sickly on my skin. Pegasus is not my favourite from the brand but for some reason it’s a compliment machine on me and I think I’d spend my money on that rather than the new release.
I'm sorry bro, but PDM Althair is an absolute banger, the orange in the opening is so good, and the dry down of vanilla is so damn good. This might be a top 3 PDM fragrance alongside Herod, and Layton.

It's a "been done before" scent. It's good but essentially a let down. I think the house is grossly overrated imo. You are right. Givenchy prive is in the same vein and absolutely better
It’s literally the niche version of Mercedes Benz Club Black 👊. Althair is more airy and faint and a little vibrant from the orange blossom. Where Club black is more dense, thick, amber, vanilla & in the dry down they are identical. Save your $$ and go for Club black. If you want both or have both you can use Althair in the day & Club black at night for reference.
Together with Greenley the best they have to offer cause done with Herod and Layton. The rest i don't even like. But longevity and sillage is a bit too short indeed.
Tried this in my local Brown Thomas recently and it instantly reminded me of Azzaro Wanted By Night Parfum (which is also don't like) but with a little extra nuttiness and maybe some honey. Was fairly pleasant but not my style personally

I liked Althair for 30 minutes, but after a while, it became sickly sweet. I had to change clothes and shower after all day since the lingering smell was nauseating. It smells very nice, but for some reason, it makes me sick. Edit to add: CV19 destroyed my sense of smell in 2021, and some of it has been restored, but I still can't smell some things or some components of them. I might not be able to smell the complete fragrance in some cases, if at all. I can not smell carlisle, percival, or sedley except maybe a small component that smells like glycerin.
I tried it a few weeks ago and was really disappointed. I was kind of expecting something that would challenge ATH Forbidden in the powerful gourmand league. A big, thumping, pudding style scent, not a snack size Mars bar. At least with the money I saved I was able to get Soma Nocturne and Tom Ford Noir Extreme Parfum.

I was about to purchase it, but got a better deal at another shop. La Nuit De L'homme and Black Suit from the Les Infinis collection by Geparly. For about the same amount. My opinion, way better deal. Especially since the La Nuit De L'homme was an older 2018 batch than a current 2023 batch. I guess to each their own. I would still eventually like to own a 75ml of Althair.

Pegasus minus Almond and lavender plus lots of sweetened Vanilla and a little cinnamon. On the left wore Althair, layered Mercedes Benz Club Black and Armaf Craze on the right. Took votes from friends and family... Craze + MCB 5, Althair 0. Lasted longer, too. So, yeah, not buying a bottle unless my 5ml wins me over this winter somehow before it runs out...
I got Althair in a discovery set recently and was very disappointed. First impression was lovely but super soft projection and that was even on my clothes! PDM really dropped the ball.

@@samscaff oh I believe some people do like it but it’s nothing special that hasn’t been done before. It’s very similar to other vanilla fragrances. Some reviewers are hyping this fragrance up and making it seem like it’s really special and one of PMD’s best releases when it’s not. If people what to buy something that’s been done before that costs a lot less than this PDM just so they can have the newest release in a pretty bottle that’s their decision. For me it’s a very boring fragrance.

Honestly my favorite vanilla (favorite fragrance actually) is lune feline by atelier des ors. It smells to me like roasting a marshmallow by the fire and nothing has come close to getting near the level of love I have found for it. The extrait is the best way to experience it but I have started seeing the regular version come up for under ~150USD and it's 1000% worth it at that price
Love PDM, but this was a let down for me personally. I can see some people liking it, but it just wasn’t interesting for me. Just a straightforward sweet vanilla scent. The performance was good for me but the scent profile itself was just too soft.
Totally agree with your assessment if I say so myself. Well, it leaves room for the Althair Exclusif. What about Nichane ANI or Diptyque Eau Duelle for the vanilla vibe.

I tested 1 spray of Althair on my wrist, and to me it smelled like a more understated Initio - Rehab (The sister-company of PDM), so to me they had cloned themselves. And I like Rehab, so I like Althair.

They are the same! I’ve tested and tried both. I own Club black you’re good with that. Althair is just more airy, faint and light (vibrant). Club black is a little more dense, warm, somewhat boozy but yummy & it has amber. In the dry down of both fragrances they’re the same. Now performance. The new batches of Club black are not so good but you save a lot of $$$ either way and it’s discontinued. Althair performance is pretty good I got about 10-12 hours and being a skin scent after probably could of gone for more if I applied more but I just applied one spray

Mercedes Benz Club Black smells a lot like le couvent maison de parfum cologne of the missions and is easily available in the US at about for around $40-50 price. It is also a influencer favorite in the US.
Vanilla + Tonka + Amber + Tons of Ambroxan. That's the trend. I feel PDM is overpriced and over discussed. Some of their originals still make sense. I would prefer investing in unique Rojas instead.

This is why perfumes are subjective, I enjoy it and appreciate it for what it is. I think perfumery in general is overpriced at the moment.

Althair is a masterpiece formulation. Longevity is a problem but apart from that very big problem it is outstanding.

Yeah I agree with your review, I thought it smelt like MYSLF by YSL with some vanilla added to it.

I don't think honesty is the problem. Some people like it, believe it or not, and some don't.

Some reviewers are hyping this fragrance up and making it seem like it’s really special and one of PMD’s best releases when it’s not. If people what to buy something that’s been done before that costs a lot less than this PDM just so they can have the newest release in a pretty bottle that’s their decision. For me it’s a very boring fragrance.

Just because you think it's been done before (I disagree) doesn't mean everyone is being dishonest. I believe there are fake reviewers, sure, but your logic is flawed. You're stating as fact that it's not ONE of the best PDM... I couldn't disagree more, along with the many other fans. So i'm pretty sure this isn't a fact.

Althair means "the rebel" in Arabic and its not the same as Altair "the flying one" the Assassin Creed character.
There should be a video guide posted soon, a what will happen when you purchase a scent that’s forbidden by the Fragrance Apprentice.

It's not Altair from AC (flying eagle) its Althaïr which means ( Rebel ) in Arabic.
It is pronounced with a (th) not (t).
Honestly my favorite vanilla (favorite fragrance actually) is lune feline by atelier des ors. It smells to me like roasting a marshmallow by the fire and nothing has come close to getting near the level of love I have found for it. The extrait is the best way to experience it but I have started seeing the regular version come up for under ~150USD and it's 1000% worth it at that price
Pegasus strikes me as more almond,heliotrope, powdery..

Yeah, it was a bit underwhelming. But I've yet to be overwhelmed by any fragrence this year.
Love PDM, but this was a let down for me personally. I can see some people liking it, but it just wasn’t interesting for me. Just a straightforward sweet vanilla scent. The performance was good for me but the scent profile itself was just too soft.
Totally agree with your assessment if I say so myself. Well, it leaves room for the Althair Exclusif. What about Nichane ANI or Diptyque Eau Duelle for the vanilla vibe.
Absolutely love it, even the eagle has landed by dua is great.

Its good...but its so familiar when I smell it, it doesn't inspire me to buy it. Thats ok though, cause I have a few PDM and will be getting one more soon.
I tested 1 spray of Althair on my wrist, and to me it smelled like a more understated Initio - Rehab (The sister-company of PDM), so to me they had cloned themselves. And I like Rehab, so I like Althair.
Did you really Test the Original. It lasts almost 24 hours on Skin and weeks on cloths

The title of this video is pretty stupid tbh you shouldn't tell someone not to buy this just cause you don't like it I got a 1.5ml tester and I love it yes the peice is up there but all parfume de marly fragrances are so why would this one be cheap

Still credit you for turning me onto Eau des Missions with that brilliant review back in the day George. 🚂 So glad I listened. And when it was still like 10£ for 200 mL!! Speaking of discontinued or soon to be discontinued vanillas, currently Zara's Vanilla Vibration a great cheap vanilla while it's around. Totally agree about Vanilla Flash too. On the uber expensive side, just saw Guerlain's extrait of Vanilla Planifolia come out... 😬 I wannit I wannit I wannit I wannit 🤣
How would you compare Althair to Mercedes Club Black?
They are the same! I’ve tested and tried both. I own Club black you’re good with that. Althair is just more airy, faint and light (vibrant). Club black is a little more dense, warm, somewhat boozy but yummy & it has amber. In the dry down of both fragrances they’re the same.
Now performance. The new batches of Club black are not so good but you save a lot of $$$ either way and it’s discontinued.
Althair performance is pretty good I got about 10-12 hours and being a skin scent after probably could of gone for more if I applied more but I just applied one spray
Anyways Layton is the 🐐of all PDMs.

Althair is Mercedes Club Black on steroids with more powdery orange blossom leaning slightly feminine
Mercedes Benz Club Black smells a lot like le couvent maison de parfum cologne of the missions and is easily available in the US at about for around $40-50 price. It is also a influencer favorite in the US.

Vanilla + Tonka + Amber + Tons of Ambroxan. That's the trend. I feel PDM is overpriced and over discussed. Some of their originals still make sense. I would prefer investing in unique Rojas instead.
Or get a bottle of Ted Lapidus Altamir for around $25 or less. Althair is Altamir if it had all its teeth pulled.
PDM is not good to me overall. Layton is the second worst fragrance I’ve ever smelled.
